Smart education is leading the development direction of Chinese education informatization and becoming a main theme of education development in the era of which technology changes education. There are seven main branches of smart education, namely intelligent Tutoring system (ITS), smart campus, Big Data in Education (BDE), knowledge graph, educational robots, virtual teachers, and personalized education. Based on literature survey and market research, this paper gives a comprehensive overview of the research and application of smart education from above seven aspects and proposes its development based on the status of smart education development.

Teacher's Online Practice in Community (TOPIC) is an informal and practical online learning community that improves teachers' professional development. Domestic researches on TOPIC have begun to take shape. By sorting out relevant literature retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), this article summarizes research topics such as knowledge management, teacher professional development, and community management and summarizes qualitative and quantitative research methods commonly used by domestic researches. This article finally puts forward some limitations of current researches in this field and forecasts the possible future research directions.

Since objects in natural scenarios possess various scales and aspect ratios, learning the rich edge information is very critical for vision-based tasks. Conventional generative adversarial networks (GANs) based methods for edge detection don't perform so well due to model collapse. In order to capture rich edge information and avoid model collapse as much as possible, we consider the learning of GANs as an evolutionary optimization and propose a novel method termed as differential-evolution-based generative adversarial networks (DEGAN) for richer edge detection. In particular, built upon GANs structure, we introduce an improved differential evolutionary algorithm to refine the input of generator, with fitness function evaluated by the discriminator. Experimental results on the well-known BSDS500 and NYUD benchmarks indicate our proposed DEGAN can achieve state-of-the-art performance while retaining a fast speed and validate its simplicity, effectiveness, and efficiency. The high quality of our results on edge detection with proposed DEGAN may promise to make other vision-based tasks work better.

This paper proposes a peak-to-valley time-based electricity price optimization method based on NSGA-II with distributed power supply. First, the curve-fitting method is used to obtain the comprehensive electricity price response curve of users in the whole society. Secondly, based on the use of time-sharing electricity price, the peak-to-valley time-sharing optimization model is established. Then, based on the NSGA-II optimization method, the optimal model is solved, and the optimal electricity price is obtained at different time periods to change the peak-to-valley load and the valley load. Taking Ei Compendex (EI) and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) databases as the literature sources, this paper presented a bibliographic analysis of the blockchain-related literature between January 2011 and September 2017. For each literature source, we built a separate dataset. Authors' productivity and collaboration, affiliation of authors and collaboration amongst institutions were analyzed using techniques of social networks analysis on both datasets. According to the results, the CNKI authors/institutes raised their productivity and outperformed the EI authors/institutes since 2016. However, the EI authors/institutes show a higher level than the CNKI authors/institutes in collaboration. We also summarized the hot topics on the EI dataset using textual analysis and discovered researchers have shifted their attention from Bitcoin itself to the blockchain technology underlying it. © 2018 IEEE.

As an important task of video enhancement,a lot of video stabilization methods have been *** in many real-world applications,especially the systems with human-computer interactions,existing methods only remove camera motion in stabilized frames,the remaining object motion will also lead to deviations in manual *** this paper,we collect practical hand drawn bounding boxes which have been shown to contain serious *** we propose a target-focused video stabilization method consisting of a proposal-based detection component and a trackingbased motion estimation *** experiments demonstrate our method can remove camera jitter and target motion simultaneously,and also offer users a friendly and effective way to draw accurate target regions.

The vision-based target recognition and tracking have received much attention in the field of robotics. Existing methods mainly focus on the vision perception of individual robot with a single view, however, the performance is susceptible to illumination and occlusion. Multi-robot collaborative perception provides a potential solution to deal with the limitation of single-view observation, however, the challenging of environmental adaptability for multi-robot collaborative decision still remains unsolved. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a two-level adaptive target recognition and tracking method based on vision for multi-robot system. The problem of multi-robot target recognition and tracking is solved under a two-level framework, which contains the features fusion level of individual robot and the cooperation level of multi-robot system. In the first level, the features measuring results that influence the visual perception of individual robot are fused, while the second level combines the voting of each robot together to determine the target for multi-robot system. Both the features measuring weights and robots voting weights are adaptively updated according to their evaluation, which lead to a beneficial result where the features and robots with higher accuracy play major roles in the first and second levels, respectively. Therefore, a good adaptability to the environments can be guaranteed. The experimental results show that the proposed approach can realize the coordination of multi-robot system in target recognition and tracking with an effective performance.

In the area of computer vision, deep learning has produced a variety of state-of-the-art models that rely on massive labeled data. However, collecting and annotating images from the real world is too demanding in terms of labor and money investments, and is usually inflexible to build datasets with specific characteristics, such as small area of objects and high occlusion level. Under the framework of Parallel Vision, this paper presents a purposeful way to design artificial scenes and automatically generate virtual images with precise annotations.A virtual dataset named Parallel Eye is built, which can be used for several computer vision tasks. Then, by training the DPM(Deformable parts model) and Faster R-CNN detectors, we prove that the performance of models can be significantly improved by combining Parallel Eye with publicly available real-world datasets during the training phase. In addition, we investigate the potential of testing the trained models from a specific aspect using intentionally designed virtual datasets, in order to discover the flaws of trained models. From the experimental results, we conclude that our virtual dataset is viable to train and test the object detectors.

New intelligent era calls for new learners and thus urgently needs a series of artificial intelligence. As a good educational platform for teaching artificial intelligence, smart cars have aroused concern and practices of all parties. However, at present, most courses and training pay more attention to basic knowledge and technology of smart cars, seldom to training based on artificial intelligence curriculum system and comprehensive competency integrating science, technology, art and management. Therefore, based on concept of iSTREAM (intelligence for Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Art, and management) and Raspberry intelligent vehicle teaching platform, this paper introduced a smart car-themed artificial intelligence courses including basic courses, specialized courses, specialized technical courses and elective courses. This course can guide learners to develop smart cars based on visual cognition, in-depth learning, VR and 3D printing integrated artistic creativity. It combines disciplines such as science, technology, art, games and management to upgrade a single knowledge and technology course into a comprehensive competency course that integrates knowledge, skills, emotion and management. Practice in Beijing NO.13 and NO.101 High School shows that this course allows students to experience scientific research process, learn artificial intelligence related knowledge and skills, understand scientific way of thinking and scientific research methods, stimulate learners' responsibility and scientific passion, and cultivate leadership skills through self-learning and partly project management. © 2018 IEEE.

Background: The influence of rising global temperatures on malaria dynamics and distribution remains controversial, especially in central highland regions. We aimed to address this subject by studying the spatiotemporal heterogeneity of malaria and the effect of climate change on malaria transmission over 27 years in Hainan, an island province in China. Methods: For this longitudinal cohort study, we used a decades-long dataset of malaria incidence reports from Hainan, China, to investigate the pattern of malaria transmission in Hainan relative to temperature and the incidence at increasing altitudes. Climatic data were obtained from the local meteorological stations in Hainan during 1984–2010 and the WorldClim dataset. A temperature-dependent R₀ model and negative binomial generalised linear model were used to decipher the relationship between climate factors and malaria incidence in the tropical region. Findings: Over the past few decades, the annual peak incidence has appeared earlier in the central highland regions but later in low-altitude regions in Hainan, China. Results from the temperature-dependent model showed that these long-term changes of incidence peak timing are linked to rising temperatures (of about 1·5°C). Further, a 1°C increase corresponds to a change in cases of malaria from –5·6% (95% CI –4·5 to –6·6) to –9·2% (95% CI –7·6 to –10·9) from the northern plain regions to the central highland regions during the rainy season. In the dry season, the change in cases would be 4·6% (95% CI 3·7 to 5·5) to 11·9% (95% CI 9·8 to 14·2) from low-altitude areas to high-altitude areas. Interpretation: Our study empirically supports the idea that increasing temperatures can generate opposing effects on malaria dynamics for lowland and highland regions. This should be further investigated and incorporated into future modelling, disease burden calculations, and malaria control, with attention for central highland regions under climate change.
