Abnormal or drastic changes in the natural environment may lead to unexpected events,such as tsunamis and earthquakes,which are becoming a major threat to national ***,no effective assessment approach can deduce a situation and determine the optimal response strategy when a natural disaster *** this study,we propose a social evolution modeling approach and construct a deduction model for self-playing,self-learning,and self-upgrading on the basis of the idea of parallel data and reinforcement *** proposed approach can evaluate the impact of an event,deduce the situation,and provide optimal strategies for *** the breakage of a submarine cable caused by earthquake as an example,we find that the proposed modeling approach can obtain a higher reward compared with other existing methods.

Due to the prediction errors and diverse driving styles of surrounding vehicles, traffic congestion and even accidents can occur in the traffic bottleneck area where vehicles merge into the main road. To ensure that connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) can quickly and efficiently merge into the main road, this paper proposes a cooperative trajectory planning method based on optimal control for vehicle cut-in scenarios. A optimal control model is constructed, and a quintic polynomial is used to generate the initial solution of the optimal control problem to accelerate the solution process and improve the success rate. Finally, The obtained merging trajectory is then synchronized with the movement of vehicles on the main road to optimize their actions and ensure a safe merging process. Joint simulation with Robot Operating system (ROS) and RVIZ is utilized, and the results show that the proposed algorithm can quickly obtain cooperative results, the locally successful merging trajectory meets the requirements of smoothness and safety, and if the solution does not allow merging, the merging vehicle is instructed to terminate the execution. © 2023 IEEE.

Parallel Manufacturing is a new manufacturing paradigm in industry, deeply integrating informalization, automation, and artificial intelligence. In this paper we propose a new mechanical design paradigm in Parallel Manufacturing based on ACP method. The key is to regard the design procedure based on artificial design and emulation method as two independent procedures, which can be modeled as a parallel system. The design procedure based on ACP method does not include a real system, which is an inventive extension of the traditional parallel system. This method can be implemented with social information by introducing the definition of SDV, SDM, and intelligent Design Manager, making it highly adaptive for social manufacturing and Parallel Manufacturing. © 2021 IEEE.

In search auctions, when the total budget for an advertising campaign during a certain promotion period is determined, advertisers have to distribute their budgets over a series of sequential temporal slots (e.g., daily budgets). However, due to the uncertainties existed in search markets, advertisers can only obtain the value range of budget demand for each temporal slot based on promotion logs. In this paper, we present a stochastic model for budget distribution over a series of sequential temporal slots during a promotion period, considering the budget demand for each temporal slot as a random variable. We study some properties and present feasible solution algorithms for our budget model, in the case that the budget demand is characterized either by uniform random variable or normal random variable. We also conduct some experiments to evaluate our model with the empirical data. Experimental results show that the budget demand is more likely to be normal distributed than uniform distributed, and our strategy can outperform the baseline strategy commonly used in practice.

In the Bitcoin system, transaction fees serve not only as the fundamental economic incentive to stimulate miners, but also as an important tuner for the Bitcoin system to define the priorities in the transaction confirmation process. In this paper, we aim to study the priority rules for queueing transactions based on their associated fees, and in turn users' decision-making in formulating their fees in the transaction confirmation queueing game. Based on the queueing theory, we first analyzed the waiting time of users under non-preemptive limited multi-priority (LMP) rule, which is formulated to adjust users' waiting time over different priorities. We then established a game-theoretical model, and analyze users' equilibrium fee decisions. Towards the end, we conducted computational experiments to validate the theoretical analysis. Our research findings can not only help understand users' fee decisions under the LMP rule, but also offer useful managerial insights in optimizing the queueing rules of Bitcoin transactions. © 2019 IEEE.

Image-To-Class distance is first proposed in Naive- Bayes Nearest-Neighbor. NBNN is a feature-based image classifier, and can achieve impressive classification accuracy. However, the performance of NBNN relies heavily on the large number of training samples. If using small number of training samples, the performance will degrade. The goal of this paper is to address this issue. The main contribution of this paper is that we propose a robust Image-to-Class distance by local learning. We define the patch-to-class distance as the distance between the input patch to its nearest neighbor in one class, which is reconstructed in the local manifold space;and then our image-toclass distance is the sum of patch-to-class distance. Furthermore, we take advantage of large-margin metric learning framework to obtain a proper Mahalanobis metric for each class. We evaluate the proposed method on four benchmark datasets: Caltech, Corel, Scene13, and Graz. The results show that our defined Image-To-Class Distance is more robust than NBNN and Optimal-NBNN, and by combining with the learned metric for each class, our method can achieve significant improvement over previous reported results on these datasets.

Histogram features, such as SIFT, HOG, LBP et al, are widely used in modern computer vision algorithms. According to [18], chi-square distance is an effective measure for comparing histogram features. In this paper, we propose a new method, named the Quadric-chi similarity metric learning (QCSML) for histogram features. The main contribution of this paper is that we propose a new metric learning method based on chi-square distance, in contrast with traditional Mahalanobis distance metric learning methods. The use of quadric-chi similarity in our method leads to an effective learning algorithm. Our method is tested on SIFT features for face identification, and compared with the state-of-art metric learning method (LDML) on the benchmark dataset, the Labeled Faces in the Wild (LFW). Experimental results show that our method can achieve clear performance gains over LDML.

Recently, Independent Component Analysis based foreground detection has been proposed for indoor surveillance applications where the foreground tends to move slowly or remain still. Yet such a method often causes discrete segmented foreground objects. In this paper, we propose a novel foreground detection method named Contextual Constrained Independent Component Analysis (CCICA) to tackle this problem. In our method, the contextual constraints are explicitly added to the optimization objective function, which indicate the similarity relationship among neighboring pixels. In this way, the obtained de-mixing matrix can produce the complete foreground compared with the previous ICA model. In addition, our method performs robust to the indoor illumination changes and features a high processing speed. Two sets of image sequences involving room lights switching on/of and door opening/closing are tested. The experimental results clearly demonstrate an improvement over the basic ICA model and the image difference method.

In the biomicromanipulation field, single-cell manipulation is receiving attention due to its potential applications in many aspects of biomedicine. Cell injection, as a typical cell micromanipulation technique, is devoted to introducing foreign substances into living cells by penetrating a fine micropipette into cell membranes. Direct access to the intracellular environment, especially the nucleus, provides an ideal way to gain insight into the dynamic processes of living cells. This paper presents the comparison of controlled penetrations of two types of adherent cells and their nuclei by two types of micropipettes, made of borosilicate glass and quartz respectively. Due to the differences in the cell properties (e.g., height, adhesion strength), two corresponding penetration strategies optimizing the puncture angle and puncture height, are proposed to improve the success rate of the puncture process and the survival rate of cells after the puncture. Real nucleus puncture experiments adopting the optimal puncture strategy for each type of cells and carried out by a semi-automatic system, indicated a better puncture effect by quartz pipettes. Through this method, functional materials such as peptides and nanoparticles can be potentially introduced to perturb the cell activities and then realize its full automation. © 2020 IEEE.
