Remotely controlled soft continuum robots with active steering capability have broad prospects in medical ***,conventional continuum robots have the miniaturization *** paper presents a microscale soft continuum microrobot with steering and locomotion capabilties based on magnetic field *** magnetically driven soft continuum microrobot is made of NdFeB particles and polyd imethylsiloxane(PDMS),and it can be as small as 200 pum in ***,a hydrogel layer is covered on the surface of the microrobot,which not only overcomes the adhesion force between the microobjects and the soft tip but also reduces the friction between the microrobot and *** performance test indicates the soft continuum microrobot featured excellent control and steering *** experimental results demonstrate that the soft continuum microrobot can travel through the microfluidic channel by its own vibration and flexibly steer in a bifurcation ***,the micromanipulation of microbeads in the microfluidic channels proves that the proposed microscale soft continuum microrobot has a great potential for intravascu lar manipu lation.

Modern industrial devices often use multiple sensors to detect the status of system,which produce a large amount of multivariate time *** to the complex temporal dependency of intra-channel and inter-correlations among different channels,few of proposed algorithms have addressed these challenges for anomaly detection in multivariate time ***,previous work does not consider future dependency,which has been shown to be critical for sequential data *** this paper,we develop an unsupervised anomaly detection algorithm TransAnomaly,which integrates Transformer,variational autoencoder(VAE) and nonlinear state space *** not only reduces the computational complexity and allows for more parallelization but also provides explainable *** the best of our knowledge,it is the first model that combines VAE and Transformer for multivariate time series anomaly *** experiments on several public real-world datasets show that TransAnomaly outperforms state-of-the-art baseline methods while training cost is reduced by nearly 80%.

Isochronous Temporal Metric for Neighbourhood Analysis in Classification Tasks

Machine learning, classification, and clustering techniques use the distance functions to evaluate the proximity between data entries and deduce the best neighbouring element and the closest matching entry. The best neighbour is not only the closest neighbour but a neighbour that is quick to respond. In view of that, a time-based isochronous metric is introduced to evaluate the best neighbours and form linkages by grouping similar entities. The proposed method uses parametric equations of the fastest descent and solves the time variables for attributes localised in curved space–time. The time metric is compared with commonly used distance metrics for accuracy in classification and clustering using benchmark and commonly used datasets. The nearest-neighbour technique is used for evaluating classification accuracy, and an adjusted random index (ARI) is used to evaluate clustering. The proposed method shows better accuracy and ARI in comparison to distance functions. It also assigns better weights to attributes of the dataset and easily identifies repeated patterns in noisy time series data.

In the industrial field, compound faults often occur on rolling bearings and it's difficult to diagnose them correctly. To solve this problem, this article proposes a CNN-ELM compound fault diagnosis method based on joint distribution modification. Firstly, considering the complementarity and coupling of data from multiple sensors, a data input trick of multi-sensor data connected in parallel is designed. Secondly, due to the discrepancy of distribution between the compound fault data features and the single fault data features, the marginal distribution matrix and the posterior distribution matrix are used to modify the CNN-ELM network, so that the network can extract more reliable data features for fault diagnosis. Finally, referring to the categories and criteria of bearing damage proposed by Paderborn University, the label code is defined. The corresponding data set is used to verify the proposed algorithm. Experimental results show that the algorithm can accurately obtain detailed fault information such as fault location, fault type, and fault severity. © 2020 IEEE.

With the development of continuous fiber-reinforced composites (CFRCs) 3D printing technology, timely, efficient and accurate detection of fiber path defects is essential for ensuring product quality and performance. However, challenges still need to be addressed in this field, such as inadequate training data coverage and the complexity of fiber path structures. These factors hinder the capability of traditional methods to accurately assess the status of printed products. Therefore, developing accurate and robust fiber path defect detection techniques is crucial for CFRCs 3D printing technology. In this paper, we propose a precise detection method for fiber path defects in CFRCs 3D printing using the YOLOv7 object detection model combined with a Squeeze-and-Excitation (SE) attention mechanism. By introducing the SE attention mechanism, we enhance the perception capability of the YOLOv7 model for crucial features, thereby improving the accuracy of fiber path defect detection. The experimental results show that the YOLOv7 model, when augmented with an attention mechanism, achieves an average accuracy of 93.9% in identifying fiber path defects during the printing process. Compared to models without this attention mechanism, the results show that there is 10.7% increase, with a notably enhanced learning capacity during the training phase, which substantiates the efficacy and practicality of the proposed approach.

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) envisages a sustainable, safe, convenient, and affordable air transport system. In socio-technical transition of AAM, there are a number of trade-offs in ecosystem that need to be studied. Three perspectives on economic feasibility are explored: first, based on history of VTOL services and value of time estimates, we discuss whether AAM can provide customers with competitive mobility services; second, what are the stakeholders’ insights on the deployment of AAM; last, the experience in the development of autonomous driving technology, such as parallel intelligence, can inform future AAM research.

A speed consensus control strategy for a six-wheel-drive skid-steering mobile robot was proposed based on a hierarchical controller in a complex environment with unknown disturbances. The effective method of reliable speed consensus control strategy should consider some disturbances, such as the internal-robot assembly error, which including instability of motor control system and external physical interference in robot dynamic system. In this paper, a driving anti-slip control system with PID and the stability control system with sliding mode by variable structure is designed and integrated to elevate the stability of the robot. And, a G-vector control algorithm based on sliding mode control is proposed to reduce the yaw angle as much as possible during the process of differential steering of robots. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by an example of a robot. The results show that the method has good control performance in control accuracy and stability.

TFDPM: Attack detection for cyber-physical systems with diffusion probabilistic models

With the development of AIoT, data-driven attack detection methods for cyber-physical systems (CPSs) have attracted lots of attention. However, existing methods usually adopt tractable distributions to approximate data distributions, which are not suitable for complex systems. Besides, the correlation of the data in different channels does not attract sufficient attention. To address these issues, we use energy-based generative models, which are less restrictive on functional forms of the data distribution. In addition, graph neural networks are used to explicitly model the correlation of the data in different channels. In the end, we propose TFDPM, a general framework for attack detection tasks in CPSs. It simultaneously extracts temporal pattern and feature pattern given the historical data. Then extract features are sent to a conditional diffusion probabilistic model. Predicted values can be obtained with the conditional generative network and attacks are detected based on the difference between predicted values and observed values. In addition, to realize real-time detection, a conditional noise scheduling network is proposed to accelerate the prediction process. Experimental results show that TFDPM outperforms existing state-of-the-art attack detection methods. The noise scheduling network increases the detection speed by three times.
