The power sector is one of the largest sources of carbon emissions globally, and thus accurate estimation of carbon emissions from thermal power plants is a crucial issue for global climate governance. At present, the existing metering methods in thermal power plants are mature but have problems such as insufficient accuracy and high costs, and they still need to be supplemented and complemented by other methods. In recent years, carbon satellites have become an important way to monitor carbon emissions, but it is also difficult to obtain accurate results. It has been studied that electricity data, with its high sampling frequency and quality, can be combined with large-scale carbon satellite data to enhance estimation accuracy. Furthermore, environmental factors, such as temperature and wind speed, can influence the movement of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere. Therefore, for emission estimation of thermal power plants, this paper proposes a multimodal fusion model. This model combines convolutional neural network, long short-term memory network, and autoencoder, and is further enhanced by frequency-aware cross-modality attention module and iterative attentional feature fusion module, which integrates electricity data, carbon satellite data and environmental data. Once the model is established, satellite, electricity, and environmental data can be input to enable rapid updates of carbon emissions. Experimental results show that the model proposed in this paper has higher accuracy and generalization ability than existing baseline models, indicating that the proposed multimodal fusion model holds great potential for the application of carbon metering in thermal power plants. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Distributed energy resource (DER) including wind power, solar energy and energy storage system (ESS) are connected to the active distribution network (ADN) in various combination ways, which makes the distribution network have interaction. As a bridge connecting the transmission grid (TG) and micro grid (MG), ADN breaks the traditional operation pattern of TG+ADN+MG. Considering the physical connections and shared information among TG, ADN and MG, this paper proposes a decentralized and parallel analytical target cascading (ATC) algorithm for TG+ADN+MG multi-level co-optimization dispatch considering primary and secondary frequency regulation. To explore the synergistic ability of the TG+ADN+MG coping with uncertainties of DER, i.e., wind power, the primary and secondary frequency regulation of TG are implemented to cope with uncertainties. Furthermore, the distributional uncertainties of wind power and load are well modeled by data driven, which is proposed in our previous work [1]. An improved 6-bus system is used to test the proposed model, the numerical results illustrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method.

Humans continual learning (CL) ability is closely related to Stability Versus Plasticity Dilemma that describes how humans achieve ongoing learning capacity and preservation for learned information. The notion of CL has always been present in artificial intelligence (AI) since its births. This paper proposes a comprehensive review of CL. Different from previous reviews that mainly focus on the catastrophic forgetting phenomenon in CL, this paper surveys CL from a more macroscopic perspective based on the Stability Versus Plasticity mechanism. Analogous to biological counterpart, "smart" AI agents are supposed to i) remember previously learned information (information retrospection);ii) infer on new information continuously (information prospection:);iii) transfer useful information (information transfer), to achieve high-level CL. According to the taxonomy, evaluation metrics, algorithms, applications as well as some open issues are then introduced. Our main contributions concern i) rechecking CL from the level of artificial general intelligence;ii) providing a detailed and extensive overview on CL topics;iii) presenting some novel ideas on the potential development of CL. © 2021, CC BY.

Generating adjacency-constrained subgoals in hierarchical reinforcement learning

Goal-conditioned hierarchical reinforcement learning (HRL) is a promising approach for scaling up reinforcement learning (RL) techniques. However, it often suffers from training inefficiency as the action space of the high-level, i.e., the goal space, is often large. Searching in a large goal space poses difficulties for both high-level subgoal generation and low-level policy learning. In this paper, we show that this problem can be effectively alleviated by restricting the high-level action space from the whole goal space to a k-step adjacent region of the current state using an adjacency constraint. We theoretically prove that the proposed adjacency constraint preserves the optimal hierarchical policy in deterministic MDPs, and show that this constraint can be practically implemented by training an adjacency network that can discriminate between adjacent and non-adjacent subgoals. Experimental results on discrete and continuous control tasks show that incorporating the adjacency constraint improves the performance of state-of-the-art HRL approaches in both deterministic and stochastic environments.1 Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Traditional programming method can achieve certain manipulation tasks with the assumption that robot environment is known and ***,with robots gradually applied in more domains,robots often encounter working scenes which are complicated,unpredictable,and *** overcome the limitation of traditional programming method,in this paper,we apply deep reinforcement learning(DRL) method to train robot agent to obtain skill *** policy trained with DRL on real-world robot is time-consuming and costly,we propose a novel and simple learning paradigm with the aim of training physical robot ***,our method train a virtual agent in an simulated environment to reach random target position from random initial ***,virtual agent trajectory sequence obtained with the trained policy,is transformed to real-world robot command with coordinate transformation to control robot performing reaching *** show that the proposed method can obtain self-adaptive reaching policy with low training cost,which is of great benefits for developing intelligent and robust robot manipulation skill system.

Weak squeezed vacuum light, especially resonant to the atomic transition, plays an important role in quantum storage and generation of various quantum sources. However, the general homodyne detection (HD) cannot determine weak squeezing due to the low signal to noise ratio and the limited resolution of the HD system. Here we provide an alternative method based on photon statistics measurement to determine the weak squeezing of the squeezed vacuum light generated from an optical parametric oscillator working far below the threshold. The approach is established the relationship between the squeezing parameter and the second-order degree of coherence. The theoretical analysis agrees well with the experiment results. The advantage of this method is that it provides a feasible and reliable experimental measure to determine the weak squeezing with high precision and the measurement is independent on the detection efficiency. This method can be used to measure other quantum features for various quantum states with extremely weak non-classicality. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

With the aging of the population, a considerable number of elderly persons suffer from walking disability. Lower limb exoskeleton robots have been proved to be effective in rehabilitation training and walking assistance. Though significant advancement has been made in the last decade, lacking the ability of adapting to complex terrain is one of the main challenges that restrict the wide application of exoskeleton robots. Thus we focus on the environmental perception and corresponding gait pattern generation of lower limb assistant exoskeleton. In this paper, we introduce a method to generate gait of exoskeleton walking on a stair, which applies the L-0 minimization-based acquisition and reconstruction of stairs information through 3D Point Cloud. The results of experiments show that our method can precisely measure the physical dimension information of stairs. © 2019 IEEE.

Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) is an automated method for generating, manipulating, and modifying valuable and diverse data using AI algorithms creatively. This survey paper focuses on the deployment of AIGC applications, e.g., ChatGPT and Dall-E, at mobile edge networks, namely mobile AIGC networks, that provide personalized and customized AIGC services in real time while maintaining user privacy. We begin by introducing the background and fundamentals of generative models and the lifecycle of AIGC services at mobile AIGC networks, which includes data collection, training, fine-tuning, inference, and product management. We then discuss the collaborative cloud-edge-mobile infrastructure and technologies required to support AIGC services and enable users to access AIGC at mobile edge networks. Furthermore, we explore AIGC-driven creative applications and use cases for mobile AIGC networks. Additionally, we discuss the implementation, security, and privacy challenges of deploying mobile AIGC networks. Finally, we highlight some future research directions and open issues for the full realization of mobile AIGC networks. © 2023, CC BY.

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies have developed in parallel in recent years, with technological breakthroughs in currency issuance, payment methods, and currency storage. However, the existing cryptocurrencies cannot replace fiat money. There is a huge gap between decentralized cryptocurrency and central bank digital currency, namely CBDC, in terms of monetary governance and circulation. In this paper, we propose the function and security requirements of CBDC, through a comprehensive analysis of the existing typical cryptocurrency and the prototype of the CBDC scheme. On this basis, we present a blockchain-based framework for CBDC with three layers, including supervisory layer, network layer and user layer, and describe the key business processes of the CBDC's entire lifecycle of issuance-circulation-withdrawal in detail. Finally, we take cross-border payment as an example to explain the transaction process of CBDC. We aim to provide theoretical guidance for CBDC design. © 2019 IEEE.

An improved distributed nonlinear observer for leader-following consensus via differential geometry approach

This paper is concerned with the leader-following output consensus problem in the framework of distributed nonlinear observers. In stead of certain hypotheses on the leader system, a group of geometric conditions is put forward to develop a novel distributed observer strategy with less conservatism, thereby definitely improving the applicability of the existing results. To be more specific, the improved distributed observer can precisely handle consensus problems for some nonlinear leader systems which are invalid for the traditional strategies with the certain assumption, such as Elastic Shaft Single Linkage Manipulator (ESSLM) systems and most of first-order nonlinear systems. We prove the sufficient conditions for the exponential stability of our distributed observer's error dynamic by proposing two pioneered lemmas to show the relationship between the maximum eigenvalues of two matrices appearing in Lyapunov type matrices. Then, a partial feedback linearization method with zero dynamic proposed in differential geometry is employed to design a purely decentralized control law for the affine nonlinear multiagent system. With this advancement, the existing results can be regarded as a specific case owing to that the followers can be chosen as an arbitrary minimum phase affine smooth nonlinear system. At last, the novel distributed observer and the improved purely decentralized control law are applied in the distributed control framework to construct a closed-loop system. We also prove the stability of closed-loop system to achieve leader-following consensus, i.e., the distributed control framework is proved to satisfy certainty equivalence principle.
