Metal artifacts in computed tomography (CT) images can significantly degrade image quality and impede accurate diagnosis. Supervised metal artifact reduction (MAR) methods, trained using simulated datasets, often struggle to perform well on real clinical CT images due to a substantial domain gap. Although state-of-the-art semi-supervised methods use pseudo ground-truths generated by a prior network to mitigate this issue, their reliance on a fixed prior limits both the quality and quantity of these pseudo ground-truths, introducing confirmation bias and reducing clinical applicability. To address these limitations, we propose a novel radiologist-in-the-loop self-training framework for MAR, termed RISE-MAR, which can integrate radiologists’ feedback into the semi-supervised learning process, progressively improving the quality and quantity of pseudo ground-truths for enhanced generalization on real clinical CT images. For quality assurance, we introduce a clinical quality assessor model that emulates radiologist evaluations, effectively selecting high-quality pseudo ground-truths for semi-supervised training. For quantity assurance, our self-training framework iteratively generates additional high-quality pseudo ground-truths, expanding the clinical dataset and further improving model generalization. Extensive experimental results on multiple clinical datasets demonstrate the superior generalization performance of our RISE-MAR over state-of-the-art methods, advancing the development of MAR models for practical application. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

Diffusion MRI (dMRI) is widely used for the detection and diagnosis of various pathologies due to its non-invasive nature. However, its signal acquisition process is relatively slow and susceptible to motions. In order to accelerate reconstruction process, many deep learning-based methods have been developed in recent years to achieve promising results, while most of them are supervised based methods and require fully sampled data which are difficult to obtain in practical applications to train the network. Self-supervised based methods were proposed to deal with this problem to a certain extent, however, they are devoted only to conventional MRI data, ignoring the correlation between the directions of dMRI data. To address this issue, we propose a self-supervised fast reconstruction method for dMRI based on multi-directional assistance. The method better utilizes the information between dMRI data directions by Partition-Replace operation, cleverly constructing data pairs and designing effective self-supervised strategy for bi-directional prediction, which can overcome the problem of data incompleteness and guide the model to reconstruct unsampled signals in spite of the difficulty of acquiring fully sampled data. Experimental results show that our method achieves better reconstruction in the absence of fully sampled data, even with an 8-fold acceleration factor. © 2024 IEEE.

A new spotted hyena intelligent optimizer (ISHO) algorithm incorporating multi-strategy improvement was proposed for the characteristics of the capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP).A combination of K-means clustering and greedy selection was used for the initialization method. This paper considers distributed online convex optimization with time-varying constraints. In this setting, a network of agents makes decisions at each round, and then only a portion of the loss function and a coordinate block of the constraint function are privately revealed to each agent. The loss and constraint functions are convex and can vary arbitrarily across rounds. The agents collaborate to minimize static network regret and network cumulative constraint violation. A novel distributed online algorithm with a vanishing stepsize is proposed and it achieves an O(Tmax {c,1-c}) static network regret bound and an O(T1-c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the number of rounds and c∈ (0,1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater's condition holds (i.e, there is a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints), the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T1-c). Moreover, if the loss functions are strongly convex, then static network regret bound is reduced to O(log (T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(√log (T)T) and O(log (T)) without and with Slater's condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to achieve tighter (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) online convex optimization with time-varying constraints under Slater's condition. Finally, the theoretical results are verified through numerical simulations. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Accurate brain tumor segmentation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images requires the integration of multimodal data in effective collaborative learning. However, clinical scenarios often face missing modalities, significantly impacting segmentation performance. In this paper, we propose the penta-encoder with medical transformer (Penta-MedTrans) for incomplete multimodal learning, which consists of four main components: a modality-specific encoder (MSE), a modality-dynamic encoder (MDE), a multimodal fusion module (MMFM) and a convolutional decoder. The MSE extracts unique features for each modality, while the MDE captures inter-modal semantics to address missing modalities. The MMFM establishes and aligns long-range correlations between modal-invariant features and global semantics of tumor regions. The convolutional decoder generates robust segmentation results by progressively upsampling and fusing modality-invariant features. We extensively validated our method on the BraTS 2020 and BraTS 2021 datasets for brain tumor segmentation. Results showed that our method outperforms SOTA for incomplete multimodal brain tumor segmentation across most subsets. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently, the number of traffic accident deaths caused by unsafe driving has been increasing dramatically. At present, unsafe driving behavior detection in urban traffic remains a challenging task due to complex background, low spatial resolution, and poor illumination conditions etc., which limit generalization ability and low detection accuracy. In this paper, a novel detection network, called UDBNet, is proposed for unsafe driving behavior detection in complex traffic monitoring scenes. UDBNet introduces a deformable global convolution block to overcome the shortcomings of the existing Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) in capturing global features and adapting to deformed targets. In addition, UDBNet adopts a new Feature Pyramid Network (FPN), termed MBFPN, to enhance the ability of feature fusion. Finally, the effectiveness, robustness, and generalization of UDBNet are proved through extensive experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

Large aperture aspheric optical surfaces (LAAOS) have been applied in many industries, but their high requirements for precision and efficiency make manufacturing more challenging. Robotic polishing is a representative computer-controlled optical surfacing technique to manufacture LAAOS with low-cost and high-efficiency. However, how to achieve the highest material removal rate (MRR) involves many process parameters. It is difficult to determine the optimal parameter settings since the complex relationships among them. In this paper, a novel Bayesian optimized differential evolution based on deep learning method is proposed to optimize the MRR, in which the designed deep neural network is responsible for MRR modeling and Bayesian optimized differential evolution is used for MRR optimization. Bayesian optimization is used to find the best hyperparameter of differential evolution method so as to improve optimization performance. To evaluate the proposed method, a series of robotic polishing experiments are conducted to build the MRR model. The optimization performance comparison experiments show the superiority of our proposed method, which increases MRR by an average of 0.16. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Personality detection aims to deduce a user’s personality from their published posts. The goal of this task is to map posts to specific personality types. Existing methods encode post information to obtain user vectors, which are then mapped to personality labels. However, existing methods face two main issues: first, only using small models makes it hard to accurately extract semantic features from multiple long documents. Second, the relationship between user vectors and personality labels is not fully considered. To address the issue of poor user representation, we utilize the text embedding capabilities of LLM. To solve the problem of insufficient consideration of the relationship between user vectors and personality labels, we leverage the text generation capabilities of LLM. Therefore, we propose the LLM-Enhanced Text Mapping Model (ETM) for Personality Detection. The model applies LLM’s text embedding capability to enhance user vector representations. Additionally, it uses LLM’s text generation capability to create multi-perspective interpretations of the labels, which are then used within a contrastive learning framework to strengthen the mapping of these vectors to personality labels.
