When the Convolutional neural network (CNN) has been introduced for computer vision, many researches use CNN-based model to perform salient object detection (SOD). In recent years, The feature pyramid network (FPN) based structure is more popular for salient object detection tasks. In this paper, to improve the overall performance of salient object detection tasks, we propose a dual attention aggregating network (DAANet), which is an FPN-based deep convolutional neural network with a dual attention aggregation module (DAAM) and dilated refinement block (DRB). The DRB module uses convolutions with different dilation rates to expand the receptive field. The DAAM considers the salient map prediction from the low-level output as pseudo-attention which can efficiently aggregate multi-scale information. The convolution block attention module (CBAM) in DAAM can refine the aggregation of pseudo-attention which enables better performance. We evaluate DAANet on six benchmark datasets that prove the effectiveness of DAANet and its components. Our implementation can be found at: https://***/Att100/DAANet. © 2023 IEEE.

Previous studies on the UAV swarm air combat decision-making problem lack consideration of uncertainty, intense confrontation, and high dynamics of aerial combat scenarios. This paper delves into the target allocation decision problem of the UAV attack and defense confrontation in a dynamic aerial combat environment. First, a dynamic game model is proposed to adapt changes in combat resources and adversaries’ behavior throughout multi-stage game processes. Then, the corresponding Nash equilibrium is solved based on a game learning algorithm- the Q-Learning algorithm. Finally, we consider the case where the UAV destructive probability is unknown, an uncertainty model is designed for predicting the UAV destructive probability based on the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Dear Editor,Pyruvate dehydrogenase complex(PDHc) is a large multienzyme assembly(Mr = 4–10 million Daltons) consisting of three essential components: pyruvate dehydrogenase(E1p), dihydrolipoyl transacetylase(E2p), and dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase(E3). These three enzymes perform distinct functions sequentially to catalyze the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate with formation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH) and acetyl-coenzyme A(Patel and Roche, 1990).

DualFed: Enjoying both Generalization and Personalization in Federated Learning via Hierachical Representations

In personalized federated learning (PFL), it is widely recognized that achieving both high model generalization and effective personalization poses a significant challenge due to their conflicting nature. As a result, existing PFL methods can only manage a trade-off between these two objectives. This raises an interesting question: Is it feasible to develop a model capable of achieving both objectives simultaneously? Our paper presents an affirmative answer, and the key lies in the observation that deep models inherently exhibit hierarchical architectures, which produce representations with various levels of generalization and personalization at different stages. A straightforward approach stemming from this observation is to select multiple representations from these layers and combine them to concurrently achieve generalization and personalization. However, the number of candidate representations is commonly huge, which makes this method infeasible due to high computational costs. To address this problem, we propose DualFed, a new method that can directly yield dual representations correspond to generalization and personalization respectively, thereby simplifying the optimization task. Specifically, DualFed inserts a personalized projection network between the encoder and classifier. The pre-projection representations are able to capture generalized information shareable across clients, and the post-projection representations are effective to capture task-specific information on local clients. This design minimizes the mutual interference between generalization and personalization, thereby achieving a win-win situation. Targeted Pareto Optimization for Subset Selection With Monotone Objective Function and Cardinality Constraint

Subset selection, a fundamental problem in various domains, is to choose a subset of elements from a large candidate set under a given objective or multiple objectives. Pareto optimization for subset selection (POSS) has emerged as a powerful paradigm for addressing subset selection problems. Recently, some POSS variants have been proposed to further improve its performance. In this paper, we propose a new POSS variant, named Targeted Pareto Optimization for Subset Selection (TPOSS). TPOSS differs from POSS in four aspects: problem formulation, population initialization, mutation, and environmental selection. The main idea of TPOSS is to focus the search on the target region of subset selection with respect to the subset cardinality in order to improve the search efficiency. We conduct comprehensive experiments to compare TPOSS with six state-of-the-art algorithms on three subset selection tasks (i.e., sparse regression, unsupervised feature selection, and hypervolume subset selection) where the size of the candidate sets ranges from 20 to 400. Experimental results show that with respect to the objective value of the best feasible subset, TPOSS outperforms the other algorithms on all the three tasks, which suggests the potential of TPOSS to enhance subset selection in various domains. End-to-end Open-vocabulary Video Visual Relationship Detection using Multi-modal Prompting

Open-vocabulary video visual relationship detection aims to expand video visual relationship detection beyond annotated categories by detecting unseen relationships between both seen and unseen objects in videos. Existing methods usually use trajectory detectors trained on closed datasets to detect object trajectories, and then feed these trajectories into large-scale pre-trained vision-language models to achieve open-vocabulary classification. Such heavy dependence on the pre-trained trajectory detectors limits their ability to generalize to novel object categories, leading to performance degradation. To address this challenge, we propose to unify object trajectory detection and relationship classification into an end-to-end open-vocabulary framework. Under this framework, we propose a relationship-aware open-vocabulary trajectory detector. It primarily consists of a query-based Transformer decoder, where the visual encoder of CLIP is distilled for frame-wise open-vocabulary object detection, and a trajectory associator. To exploit relationship context during trajectory detection, a relationship query is embedded into the Transformer decoder, and accordingly, an auxiliary relationship loss is designed to enable the decoder to perceive the relationships between objects explicitly. Moreover, we propose an open-vocabulary relationship classifier that leverages the rich semantic knowledge of CLIP to discover novel relationships. To adapt CLIP well to relationship classification, we design a multi-modal prompting method that employs spatio-temporal visual prompting for visual representation and vision-guided language prompting for language input. Extensive experiments on two public datasets, VidVRD and VidOR, demonstrate the effectiveness of our framework. A four-port multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator (DR) antenna (DRA) is presented in this paper. Combing four rectangular DRs together can form a single DR element. With shape modification and conformal strips, the four ports can be decoupled. To verify the design idea, a transparent prototype can be designed and fabricated for 2.4-GHz band applications. The measured results show an impedance bandwidth of 5.8% and an isolation level of 24 dB. © 2024 IEEE.

To improve meta-generalization, i.e., accommodating out-of-domain meta-testing tasks beyond meta-training ones, is of significance to extending the success of meta-learning beyond standard benchmarks. Previous heterogeneous meta-learning algorithms have shown that tailoring the global meta-knowledge by the learned clusters during meta-training promotes better meta-generalization to novel meta-testing tasks. Inspired by this, we propose a novel multi-objective perspective to sharpen the compositionality of the meta-trained clusters, through which we have empirically validated that the meta-generalization further improves. Grounded on the hierarchically structured meta-learning framework, we formulate a hypervolume loss to evaluate the degree of conflict between multiple cluster-conditioned parameters in the two-dimensional loss space over two randomly chosen tasks belonging to two clusters and two mixed tasks imitating out-of-domain tasks. Experimental results on more than 16 few-shot image classification datasets show not only improved performance on out-of-domain meta-testing datasets but also better clusters in visualization.

Sustainable Energy-Efficient Multi-Objective Task Processing Based on Edge Computing

As smart cities evolve, rising computational demands strain infrastructures. Offloading tasks to edge cloud data centers offers potential but faces challenges like high latency, energy use, and data leakage, especially in dense urban areas. This paper presents a low-latency, energy-efficient digital twin (DT) architecture tailored for smart cities, integrating edge computing (EC) and multiple intelligent reflective surfaces (IRS) to enhance communication. Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technology is considered for user devices to reduce energy consumption. To mitigate the risk of user privacy leakage during task offloading, we address sensitive user location data that may be exposed by proposing a perturbed sliding task queue (PSTQ) algorithm based on differential privacy (DP), and demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm. To optimize task processing time and energy efficiency, we decompose the complex problem using block coordinate descent and propose an intelligent scheduling for energy sustainability (ISES) algorithm based on Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions and deep reinforcement learning (DRL). Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed architecture and algorithms achieve over 90% improvement in key optimization objectives, alleviating the computational pressure on existing devices while significantly enhancing task processing efficiency and energy sustainability. © 2004-2012 IEEE.
