Recently, it has been pointed out in many studies that the performance of evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) algorithms can be improved by selecting solutions from all examined solutions stored in an unbounded external archive. This is because in general the final population is not the best subset of the examined solutions. To obtain a good final solution set in such a solution selection framework, subset selection from a large candidate set (i.e., all examined solutions) has been studied. However, since good subsets cannot be obtained from poor candidate sets, a more important issue is how to find a good candidate set, which is the focus of this paper. In this paper, we first visually demonstrate that the entire Pareto front is not covered by the examined solutions through computational experiments using MOEA/D, NSGA-III and SMS-EMOA on DTLZ test problems. That is, the examined solution set stored in the unbounded archive has some large holes (i.e., some uncovered area of the Pareto front). Next, to evaluate the quality of the examined solution set (i.e., to measure the size of the largest hole), we propose the use of a variant of the inverted generational distance (IGD) indicator. Then, we propose a simple modification of EMO algorithms to improve the quality of the examined solution set. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed modification through computational experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

Performance of evolutionary multi-objective optimization (EMO) algorithms is usually evaluated using artificial test problems such as DTLZ and WFG. Every year, new EMO algorithms with high performance on those test problems are proposed. One question is whether they also work well on real-world problems. In this paper, we try to find an answer to this question by examining the performance of ten EMO algorithms including both well-known representative algorithms and recently-proposed new algorithms. First, those algorithms are applied to five artificial test suites (DTLZ, WFG, Minus-DTLZ, Minus-WFG and MaF) and three real-world problem suites. The performance of each algorithm is evaluated by the hypervolume indicator. Next, the ranking of the ten EMO algorithms is created for each problem suite. That is, eight different rankings are obtained (each ranking is for each problem suite). Then, the eight different rankings are visually compared to answer our research question. The distance between two rankings is also calculated to support visual comparison results. Our experimental results show that similar rankings of the ten EMO algorithms are obtained for the three real-world problem suites and Minus-WFG. It is also shown that the ranking for each of the three real-world problem suites is clearly different from their ranking for DTLZ. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

The evaluation of regional geological hazard susceptibility is of great significance to the prevention and control of geological hazard. In this paper, the "4-20"Lushan earthquake disaster area as the research area, combined with GIS and characteristics of the research area, through correlation analysis, selected 9 influencing factors as the evaluation factors. The study was conducted using a weighted information volume-logistic regression model (WI-LR). The results were classified into five sensitivity levels: very low, low, medium, high and very high. The results show that the landslide prone areas in Lushan County are concentrated in the area below the middle of the county seat, mostly near rivers, faults and areas with peak acceleration greater than 0.4. Among them, WI-LR model (AUC=0.918) > deterministic factor model (CF =0.908) > weighted information quantity model (WI) (AUC=0.896) > information quantity model I (AUC=0.853) > information quantity logistic regression model I-LR (AUC=0.799). It indicates that WI-LR model has high evaluation accuracy. © 2023 IEEE.

Mass spectrometry serves as a pivotal tool for the analysis of small molecules through an examination of their mass-to-charge ratios. Recent advancements in deep learning have markedly enhanced the analysis of mass spectrometric data, facilitating the prediction of novel small molecule structures without the necessity of extensive databases. Nonetheless, the paucity of annotated datasets impedes the efficacious training of molecular generation models predicated on MS2 spectra. To mitigate this limitation, we introduce ctMSNovelist, an avant-garde method that amalgamates pre-training, fine-tuning, and co-training techniques to construct a more precise model for the generation of molecular structures from tandem mass spectrometry data. This novel approach augments both the training regimen and the predictive accuracy of the MSNovelist model, thereby surmounting the obstacle of limited data. The methodology commences with the pretraining of a Variational Autoencoder (VAE) to generate molecular fingerprints derived from SMILES strings. Subsequently, it undergoes fine-tuning to emulate noisy fingerprints originating from mass spectrometry (MS) data. Concurrently, MSNovelist is co-trained utilizing these simulated fingerprints, inclusive of the highly noisy variants produced in the early stages of VAE training. The incorporation of a substantial volume of noisy data serves to enhance model accuracy and avert overfitting. We evaluated ctMSNovelist using the GNPS dataset and attained a SMILES prediction accuracy of 48.8%, representing a 4.1% enhancement over MSNovelist. It is pertinent to note that the sole distinction between ctMSNovelist and MSNovelist in this experiment was the training process. We described ferromagnetic film and bilayer films composed of two ferromagnetic layers coupled through antiferromagnetic interfacial interaction by classical Heisenberg model and simulated their magnetization state,magnetic permeability,and Faraday effect at zero and finite temperature by using the Landau–Lifshitz–Gilbert(LLG)*** results indicate that in a microwave field with positive circular polarization,the ferromagnetic film has one resonance peak while the bilayer film has two resonance ***,the resonance peak disappears in ferromagnetic film,and only one resonance peak emerges in bilayer film in the negative circularly polarized microwave *** the microwave field’s frequency exceeds the film’s resonance frequency,the Faraday rotation angle of the ferromagnetic film is the greatest,and it decreases when the thickness of the two halves of the bilayer is *** the microwave field’s frequency remains constant,the Faraday rotation angle fluctuates with temperature in the same manner as spontaneous magnetization *** a DC magnetic field is applied in the direction of the anisotropic axis of the film,the Faraday rotation angle varies with the DC magnetic field and shows a similar shape of the hysteresis loop.

This study addresses linear attacks on remote state estimation within the context of a constrained alarm rate. Smart sensors, which are equipped with local Kalman filters, transmit innovations instead of raw measurements through a wireless communication network. This transmission is vulnerable to malicious data interception and manipulation by attackers. The aim of this research is to identify the optimal attack strategy that degrades the system performance while adhering to stealthiness constraints. A notable innovation of this paper is the direct association of the attack's stealthiness with the alarm rate, diverging from traditional approaches that rely on the covariance of the innovation or the Kullback-Leibler divergence, which are conventional metrics that have been extensively explored in previous studies. Our findings reveal that the optimal attack strategy exhibits some structural characteristics in systems of low dimensions. The performance of the proposed attack strategy is demonstrated through numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

With the development of imaging technology, it becomes increasingly easy to obtain hyperspectral images (HSI) containing rich spectral information. The application of hyperspectral images in autonomous driving is expected to become a reality. Hyperspectral images have higher dimensions and more information than RGB images, which brings the challenge of training with limited samples. It is not easy to train satisfactory semantic segmentation models directly from hyperspectral images. In this paper, we propose a hyperspectral dual-fusion (hyperDF) network that can fully utilize the pre-training knowledge of the RGB modality to improve the performance of hyperspectral semantic segmentation. Specifically, we generate pseudo-color images from hyperspectral images to simulate RGB signals in order to make better use of the pre-trained RGB semantic segmentation models. The pseudo-color and hyperspectral images are processed in a dual encoder structure and then fused through a channel-wise attention fusion module. Finally, a multi-scale decoder injected with low-level features is used to predict the semantic segmentation results. Experimental results on the Hyperspectral City V2.0 dataset show that our method achieves state-of-the-art results, with a mIoU of 51.68%. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

The neuron doctrine defines the neuron as the basic unit of the nervous system, which drives the dynamic behavior of our organs. This has led to neurons becoming the focus of modern neuroscience research and to the rise of neurocomputing, in which we try to digitally simulate human behavior. The goal being to better understand the human nervous system and gain more control over neuron-related diseases, helping doctors establish faster and more reliable medical diagnoses. In this context, we aim to simulate eye diseases and vision problems by convolving input images using a new class of neural networks based on a variable structure model of neurons presented in [1]. In this work, we focus on recreating the common convolution filters as a first step. This is the first time in neurocomputing literature that dendritic neurons have been used for dynamic convolution kernels generation and eye diseases simulation. We start with a presentation of our upgrades to the model’s flexibility and accuracy. Then, we propose a novel kernel generator algorithm to convolve the input images. Finally, we show its promising results in creating the outline, pixelization, and night convolution kernels, as well as control some metrics, including brightness and data retention. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.
