Due to the advantages of flexible deployment and strong environmental adaptability of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), UAVs serve as aerial base stations (BSs) to meet Quality of Services (QoSs) of ground users in internet of things (IoT) networks. NOMA (Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access) is a potential technique in wireless communications area, which can significantly improve sum spectrum efficiency (SE) of systems. To avoid the limitation of perfect CSI, opportunistic beamforming (OBF) is proposed, where a set of randomly generated weights is used to preprocess transmitted signals. Due to multiuser diversity gain introduced by OBF, OBF-NOMA systems can achieve approximate sum SE to conventional NOMA systems. Additionally, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) are involved to overcome obstruction and obtain further improvements of SE. Therefore, this paper proposes a RIS-aid OBF-NOMA system in UAV-IoT networks, where random weights and opportunistic phase matrix are respectively applied in a UAV and RIS. Statistical characteristics of equivalent channels are derived in Nakagami-m (m≥1) fading channels. Theoretical asymptotic analyses of SE and bit error rate (BER) are then presented. Furthermore, a non-convex optimization problem is formulated to maximize SE. To obtain the optimal solution, we divide the problem into two sub-optimization problems and apply a joint iterative algorithm. Numerical results show that the proposed method achieves a satisfactory SE without complex channel estimation and perfect CSI. © 2014 IEEE.

Delving deeper into the decoder for video captioning

Video captioning is an advanced multi-modal task which aims to describe a video clip using a natural language sentence. The encoder-decoder framework is the most popular paradigm for this task in recent years. However, there exist some problems in the decoder of a video captioning model. We make a thorough investigation into the decoder and adopt three techniques to improve the performance of the model. First of all, a combination of variational dropout and layer normalization is embedded into a recurrent unit to alleviate the problem of overfitting. Secondly, a new online method is proposed to evaluate the performance of a model on a validation set so as to select the best checkpoint for testing. Finally, a new training strategy called professional learning is proposed which uses the strengths of a captioning model and bypasses its weaknesses. It is demonstrated in the experiments on Microsoft Research Video Description Corpus (MSVD) and MSR-Video to Text (MSR-VTT) datasets that our model has achieved the best results evaluated by BLEU, CIDEr, METEOR and ROUGE-L metrics with significant gains of up to 18% on MSVD and 3.5% on MSR-VTT compared with the previous state-of-the-art *** Codes 68T45, 68T50. The number and geographical location of oil well sites can reflect the local oil production situation and there is a growing interest in automatically identifying oil well sites from remote sensing images. Traditionally, visual interpretation was employed to extract oil well sites locations from remotely sensing images. However, this approach is time-consuming and heavily dependent on domain experts. Advancements in remote sensing satellite technology and the widespread use of deep learning algorithms have enabled the automated extraction of oil well sites from remote sensing images. In this paper, we established the Northeast Petroleum University Oil Well Sites Dataset Version 1.0 (NEPU-OWS V1.0), and to evaluate its usability by comparing several different deep learning models based on semantic segmentation algorithms for optical remote sensing images. Experimental results show that current advanced deep learning models achieve high accuracy on this dataset, demonstrating great potential for remote sensing detection in oil well sites.

Video super-resolution is one of the most popular tasks on mobile devices, being widely used for an automatic improvement of low-bitrate and low-resolution video streams. While numerous solutions have been proposed for this problem, they are usually quite computationally demanding, demonstrating low FPS rates and power efficiency on mobile devices. In this Mobile AI challenge, we address this problem and propose the participants to design an end-to-end real-time video super-resolution solution for mobile NPUs optimized for low energy consumption. The participants were provided with the REDS training dataset containing video sequences for a 4X video upscaling task. The runtime and power efficiency of all models was evaluated on the powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 platform with a dedicated AI processing unit capable of accelerating floating-point and quantized neural networks. All proposed solutions are fully compatible with the above NPU, demonstrating an up to 500 FPS rate and 0.2 [Watt/30 FPS] power consumption. Sorghum is crucial for brewing strong-flavor Baijiu, and lipids affect wine flavor perception, yet their impact on Baijiu quality remains unclear. Here, 69 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and 239 lipids in Baijiu samples brewed from different sorghum varieties were measured. 26 VOCs were identified by OAV analysis, and the OAV values of LS were found to be less than those of FS, which may explain the more pronounced aroma release and stronger sensory sensation in FS. The OPLS-DA model screened out 27 lipids that exhibited significant differences, including fatty acids (FA), glycerophospholipids (GP), and glycerolipids (GL), which are likely to influence Baijiu aroma and taste. Correlation analysis further revealed that specific compounds, such as ethyl caprylate, acetal, and FA18:1;O3, significantly affected Baijiu flavor perception. These results can provide a reference for the selection of suitable raw materials for sorghum to improve Baijiu quality. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this study, we synthesized Cu and Co co-doped ZnO nanoparticles, denoted as Zn1-2xCuxCoxO (x = 0.01, 0.02, 0.03), using the sol-gel auto-combustion method. Successful integration of Cu and Co elements into the ZnO host lattice was confirmed through a comprehensive array of spectroscopic techniques. Structural analysis revealed the persistence of a hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure with some distinct microstructural variations across all samples. Alteration in lattice parameters and dislocation density strongly suggests the successful incorporation of Cu2+ and Co2+ ions within the ZnO lattice. A prominent increase in crystallite size from 27.19 nm to 33.46 nm was observed with the increase in doping concentration. Field emission scanning electron microscopy showed a combination of uniformly distributed spherical and hexagon-like structures. Furthermore, UV-Visible absorption spectra demonstrated a proportional enhancement in energy band gap from 2.14 eV for Zn0.98Cu0.01Co0.01O to 2.40 eV for Zn0.94Cu0.03Co0.03O. The Burstein−Moss effect was invoked to elucidate the observed blue shift in absorption spectra and energy band gaps, further solidifying our findings. The systematic and substantial correlation between dopant concentration and energy band gap signifies that the codoping of Cu and Co is a viable strategy for engineering the band gap of ZnO. This collective investigation unveils the substantial potential of Cu and Co co-doping in ZnO nanoparticles for advanced optoelectronic applications, paving the way for tailored optical and photonic functionalities. © 2023, The Authors. The known Chinese sentiment dictionary has universal applicability, lacks the expansion of proprietary domains, and lacks support for network words. This paper proposes a new approach and applies it to the Internet news sentiment analysis text provided by the CCF Big Data Computing Intelligence Contest. First, the corpus is segmented in Chinese to obtain candidate sentiment words that have not appeared in the sentiment dictionary. The candidate sentiment words are calculated in different sentimental texts. The proportion of appearance is obtained, and the emotional tendency of candidate emotional words is obtained, and then it is merged with the emotional vocabulary ontology database to obtain the expanded emotional dictionary. Experiments show that the expanded sentiment dictionary is better than the known Chinese sentiment vocabulary ontology database in the above corpus. © 2021 IEEE.

Abstract Through-Silicon Via (TSV) is a key technology of three-dimensional (3D) integration. However, it is easy to have voids in the Cu filling process of TSV. Additives and optimized filling process are used to solve this problem. However, the comprehensive analysis of these affecting parameter needs many experiments and cost much time. Thus, the finite element analysis (FEA) for the mass transferring of electroplating is carried out by the COMSOL software in the work. The filling processes with different inhibitor concentrations are first studied and the most suitable density of 64mol/m2 is obtained. However, high inhibitor concentration will lead to much lower plating speed. Thus, the effect of filling process such as current density and plating bath flow velocity on the voids are investigated under the optimized concentrations above. The best filling quality is obtained at the current density of 1.4 ASD and the bath stirring velocity of 0.4 m/s. The underlying growth mechanism of these influencing factors are also analyzed and revealed. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We investigate entangled x-ray photon pair emissions in a free-electron laser (FEL) and establish a quantum electrodynamical theory for coherently amplified entangled photon pair emission from microbunched electron pulses in the undulator. We provide a scheme to generate highly entangled x-ray photon pairs and numerically demonstrate the properties of entangled emission, which is of great importance in x-ray quantum optics. Our work shows a unique advantage of FELs in entangled x-ray photon pair generation.
