IRS Assisted NOMA Aided Mobile Edge Computing with Queue Stability: Heterogeneous Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning

By employing powerful edge servers for data processing, mobile edge computing (MEC) has been recognized as a promising technology to support emerging computation-intensive applications. Besides, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)-aided MEC system can further enhance the spectral-efficiency with massive tasks offloading. However, with more dynamic devices brought online and the uncontrollable stochastic channel environment, it is even desirable to deploy appealing technique, i.e., intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS), in the MEC system to flexibly tune the communication environment and improve the system energy efficiency. In this paper, we investigate the joint offloading, communication and computation resource allocation for IRS-assisted NOMA MEC system. We firstly formulate a mixed integer energy efficiency maximization problem with system queue stability constraint. We then propose the Lyapunov-function-based Mixed Integer Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (LMIDDPG) algorithm which is based on the centralized reinforcement learning (RL) framework. To be specific, we design the mixed integer action space mapping which contains both continuous mapping and integer mapping. Moreover, the award function is defined as the upper-bound of the Lyapunov drift-plus-penalty function. To enable end devices (EDs) to choose actions independently at the execution stage, we further propose the Heterogeneous Multi-agent LMIDDPG (HMA-LMIDDPG) algorithm based on distributed RL framework with homogeneous EDs and heterogeneous base station (BS) as heterogeneous multi-agent. Numerical results show that our proposed algorithms can achieve superior energy efficiency performance to the benchmark algorithms while maintaining the queue stability. Feature extraction and matching are the basic parts of many robotic vision tasks, such as 2D or 3D object detection, recognition, and registration. As is known, 2D feature extraction and matching have already achieved great success. Unfortunately, in the field of 3D, the current methods may fail to support the extensive application of 3D LiDAR sensors in robotic vision tasks due to their poor descriptiveness and inefficiency. To address this limitation, we propose a novel 3D feature representation method: Linear keypoints representation for 3D LiDAR point cloud, called LinK3D. The novelty of LinK3D lies in that it fully considers the characteristics (such as the sparsity and complexity) of LiDAR point clouds and represents the keypoint with its robust neighbor keypoints, which provide strong constraints in the description of the keypoint. The proposed LinK3D has been evaluated on three public datasets, and the experimental results show that our method achieves great matching performance. More importantly, LinK3D also shows excellent real-time performance, faster than the sensor frame rate at 10 Hz of a typical rotating LiDAR sensor. LinK3D only takes an average of 30 milliseconds to extract features from the point cloud collected by a 64-beam LiDAR and takes merely about 20 milliseconds to match two LiDAR scans when executed on a computer with an Intel Core i7 processor. To handle the detrimental effects brought by leakage of radioactive gases at nuclear power station, we propose a bus based evacuation optimization problem. The proposed model incorporates the following four constraints, 1) the maximum dose of radiation per evacuee, 2) the limitation of bus capacity, 3) the number of evacuees at demand node (bus pickup stop), 4) evacuees balance at demand and shelter nodes, which is formulated as a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. Then, to eliminate the difficulties of choosing a proper M value in Big-M method, a Big-M free method is employed to linearize the nonlinear terms of the MINLP problem. Finally, the resultant mixed integer linear program (MILP) problem is solvable with efficient commercial solvers such as CPLEX or Gurobi, which guarantees the optimal evacuation plan obtained. To evaluate the effectiveness of proposed evacuation model, we test our model on two different scenarios (a random one and a practical scenario). Spectral clustering is one of the most popular clustering approaches. Despite its good performance and strong theoretical supports, it is limited to high complexity of the graph Laplacian similarity matrix construction and eigen-decomposition problems. Recently, deep learning has been successfully adopted in graph representation. In the paper, we jointly learn the manifold graph construction and non-linear low-dimension mapping of the graph. In addition, we theoretically proved that our model according with spectral clustering theory. Meanwhile, we use the proposed non-linear coders as the building blocks to formulate a deep structure to further refine features of layer wise fashion. Extensive experiments on clustering tasks demonstrate that our method performs well in terms of both clustering accuracy and normalized mutual information( NMI ). © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Building a universal conversational agent has been a long-standing goal of the dialogue research community. Most previous works only focus on a small set of dialogue tasks. In this work, we aim to build a unified dialogue foundation model (DFM) which can be used to solve massive diverse dialogue tasks. To achieve this goal, a large-scale well-annotated dialogue dataset with rich task diversity (DialogZoo) is collected. We introduce a framework to unify all dialogue tasks and propose novel auxiliary self-supervised tasks to achieve stable training of DFM on the highly diverse large scale DialogZoo corpus. Experiments show that, compared with models of the same size, DFM can achieve state-of-the-art or competitive performance on very rich cross-domain downstream dialogue tasks. Joint routing and charging problem of multiple electric vehicles: A fast optimization algorithm

Logistics has gained great attentions with the prosperous development of e-commerce, which is often seen as the classic optimal vehicle routing problem. Meanwhile, electric vehicle (EV) has been widely used in logistic fleet to curb the emission of green house gases in recent years. Thus, solving the optimization problem of joint routing and charging of multiple EVs is in a urgent need, whose objective function includes charging time, charging cost, EVs travel time, usage fees of EV and revenue from serving customers. This joint problem is formulated as a mixed integer programming (MIP) problem, which, however, is NP-hard due to integer restrictions and bilinear terms from the coupling between routing and charging decisions. The main contribution of this paper lies at proposing an efficient two-stage algorithm that can decompose the original MIP problem into two linear programming (LP) problems, by exploiting the exactness of LP relaxation and eliminating the coupled term. This algorithm can achieve a near-optimal solution in polynomial time. In addition, another variant algorithm is proposed based on the two-stage one, to further improve the quality of solution. Compared with the state-of-the-art algorithm, extensive simulations are implemented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

Ever since its first release in 2009, the Go programming language (Golang) has been well received by software communities. A major reason for its success is the powerful support of library-based development, where a Golang project can be conveniently built on top of other projects by referencing them as libraries. As Golang evolves, it recommends the use of a new library-referencing mode to overcome the limitations of the original one. While these two library modes are incompatible, both are supported by the Golang ecosystem. The heterogeneous use of library-referencing modes across Golang projects has caused numerous dependency management (DM) issues, incurring reference inconsistencies and even build failures. Motivated by the problem, we conducted an empirical study to characterize the DM issues, understand their root causes, and examine their fixing solutions. Based on our findings, we developed Hero, an automated technique to detect DM issues and suggest proper fixing solutions. We applied Hero to 19,000 popular Golang projects. The results showed that Hero achieved a high detection rate of 98.5% on a DM issue benchmark and found 2,422 new DM issues in 2,356 popular Golang projects. We reported 280 issues, among which 181 (64.6%) issues have been confirmed, and 160 of them (88.4%) have been fixed or are under fixing. Almost all the fixes have adopted our fixing suggestions.

We study population distributions and lasing actions of N2+ drieen by femtosecond lasers with earious waeelengths, and uncoeer an efficient ionic excitation mechanism induced by synchronized ionization and multiphoton resonance. Our results show that the strongest N2+ lasing appears around 1000 nm pump waeelength. At the optimal waeelength, the pump-energy threshold for air lasing generation is reduced by fiee folds compared with that required by the preeious 800 nm pump laser. Simulations based on the ionization-coupling model indicate that although the Stark-assisted three-photon resonance can be satisfied within a broad pump waeelength range, the optimal pump waeelength arises when the dynamic three-photon resonance temporally synchronizes with the ionization injection. In this case, the ionic dipoles created at each half optical cycle haee the same phase. The dipole phase locking promotes the continuous population transfer from ionic ground state to the excited state, gieing rise to a dramatic increase of excited-state population. This work proeides new insight on the photoexcitation mechanism of ions in strong laser fields, and opens up a route for optimizing ionic radiations. Copyright © 2023, The Authors.
