Quantum secure direct communication (QSDC) has attracted a lot of attention, which exploits deep-rooted quantum physical principles to guarantee unconditional security of communication in the face of eavesdropping. We first briefly review the fundamentals of QSDC, and then present its evolution, including its security proof, its performance improvement techniques, and practical implementation. Zero-shot node classification with decomposed graph prototype network

Node classification is a central task in graph data analysis. Scarce or even no labeled data of emerging classes is a big challenge for existing methods. A natural question arises: can we classify the nodes from those classes that have never been seen? In this paper, we study this zero-shot node classification (ZNC) problem which has a two-stage nature: (1) acquiring high-quality class semantic descriptions (CSDs) for knowledge transfer, and (2) designing a well generalized graph-based learning model. For the first stage, we give a novel quantitative CSDs evaluation strategy based on estimating the real class relationships, to get the "best" CSDs in a completely automatic way. For the second stage, we propose a novel Decomposed Graph Prototype Network (DGPN) method, following the principles of locality and compositionality for zero-shot model generalization. Finally, we conduct extensive experiments to demonstrate the effectiveness of our solutions. © 2021, CC BY.

Owing to the recent advancements of meta-materials and meta-surfaces, the concept of reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has been embraced to meet the spectral- and energy-efficient, and yet cost-effective solutions for the sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks. From an operational standpoint, RISs can be easily deployed on the facades of buildings and indoor walls. Albeit promising, in the actual network operation, the deployment of RISs may face challenges because of the willingness and benefits of RIS holders from the aspect of installing RISs on their properties. Accordingly, RIS-aided wireless networks are faced with a formidable mission: how to balance the wireless service providers (WSPs) and RIS holders in terms of their respective interests. To alleviate this deadlock, we focus on the application of pricing models in RIS-aided wireless networks in pursuit of a win-win solution for both sides. Specifically, we commence with a comprehensive introduction of RIS pricing with its potential applications in RIS networks, meanwhile the fundamentals of pricing models are summarized in order to benefit both RIS holders and WSPs. In addition, a Stackelberg game-based model is exemplified to illustrate the operation of utility-maximization pricing. Finally, we highlight open issues and future research directions of applying pricing models to the RIS-aided wireless networks. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

HERO: On the chaos when PATH meets modules

Ever since its first release in 2009, the Go programming language (Golang) has been well received by software communities. A major reason for its success is the powerful support of library-based development, where a Golang project can be conveniently built on top of other projects by referencing them as libraries. As Golang evolves, it recommends the use of a new library-referencing mode to overcome the limitations of the original one. While these two library modes are incompatible, both are supported by the Golang ecosystem. The heterogeneous use of library-referencing modes across Golang projects has caused numerous dependency management (DM) issues, incurring reference inconsistencies and even build failures. Motivated by the problem, we conducted an empirical study to characterize the DM issues, understand their root causes, and examine their fixing solutions. Based on our findings, we developed HERO, an automated technique to detect DM issues and suggest proper fixing solutions. We applied HERO to 19,000 popular Golang projects. The results showed that HERO achieved a high detection rate of 98.5% on a DM issue benchmark and found 2,422 new DM issues in 2,356 popular Golang projects. We reported 280 issues, among which 181 (64.6%) issues have been confirmed, and 160 of them (88.4%) have been fixed or are under fixing. Almost all the fixes have adopted our fixing suggestions. The development of multi laser-powder bed fusion (PBF) technology has significantly reduced the production time for large engine components. However, the impact of thermal effects and microstructural characteristics in the laser beam overlap region on the anisotropic mechanical behavior of metallic materials remains unclear. This study investigated the anisotropic tensile properties and high-cycle fatigue behavior of Ti6Al4V produced by both single laser-PBF (SL-PBF) and dual laser-PBF (DL-PBF). As-built DL-PBF samples exhibited high strength (1404 MPa) but low ductility (3.6 %). After heat treatment, the samples achieved a strength-ductility balance, with an ultimate tensile strength of 1089 MPa, and an elongation of 17.1 %. The mechanical properties of Ti6Al4V produced by DL-PBF were influenced by the α lath thickness, dislocation density and texture. The precipitation of small-angle grain boundaries during DL-PBF process was found to contribute to the strong anisotropy. Due to the influence of internal pore forming, the fatigue strength of the DL-PBF samples was lower than that of the SL-PBF samples. Pores in the dual-laser beam overlap region accelerated the fatigue crack propagation, resulting in a venation-like pattern. In contrast, cracks in the SL-PBF samples propagated in a circular pattern around internal pore. A high-speed camera was employed to capture the dual-laser beams dynamics during pore formation. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the mechanical properties and pore formation mechanisms in the DL-PBF process. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Large-scale equipment presents the characteristics of technology-intensive, knowledge-intensive and complex, which brings high investment and high risk to equipment acquisition. This paper analyzes the various components of equipment acquisition to fully apply modeling and simulation technology to each stage of it. On the basis of multi-objective optimization theory, the objective function of the lowest risk and lowest cost of simulation-based acquisition (SBA) is proposed. Then establishing a multi-objective optimization model for simulation-based acquisition according to the corresponding constraints. The nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA II) and multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) algorithms are used to optimize the model, and the majority voting method is used for integration. The comparison of simulation examples proves that the multi-objective optimization model oriented to SBA designed in this paper can effectively realize the optimization of each objective of SBA under cost constraints. And the feasibility and efficiency of optimization solution are guaranteed. © 2020 IEEE.

Under the organization of the base station (BS), wireless federated learning (FL) enables collaborative model training among multiple devices. However, the BS is merely responsible for aggregating local updates during the training process, which incurs a waste of the computational resource at the BS. To tackle this issue, we propose a semi-federated learning (SemiFL) paradigm to leverage the computing capabilities of both the BS and devices for a hybrid implementation of centralized learning (CL) and FL. Specifically, each device sends both local gradients and data samples to the BS for training a shared global model. To improve communication efficiency over the same time-frequency resources, we integrate over-the-air computation for aggregation and non-orthogonal multiple access for transmission by designing a novel transceiver structure. To gain deep insights, we conduct convergence analysis by deriving a closed-form optimality gap for SemiFL and extend the result to two extra cases. In the first case, the BS uses all accumulated data samples to calculate the CL gradient, while a decreasing learning rate is adopted in the second case. Our analytical results capture the destructive effect of wireless communication and show that both FL and CL are special cases of SemiFL. Then, we formulate a non-convex problem to reduce the optimality gap by jointly optimizing the transmit power and receive beamformers. Accordingly, we propose a two-stage algorithm to solve this intractable problem, in which we provide the closed-form solutions to the beamformers. Extensive simulation results on two real-world datasets corroborate our theoretical analysis, and show that the proposed SemiFL outperforms conventional FL and achieves 3.2% accuracy gain on the MNIST dataset compared to state-of-the-art benchmarks. Calibration is an essential process for building a 3D scanning system. Calibration usually requires accurate coordinates of the marker relative to the scanning system. The process requires other measurement equipment, which is cumbersome. Recently, there are some attempts to calibrate the scanning system according the shape of the calibration object, but this method can only calibrate the parameters that affect the shape of the scanned object. In this paper, a self-calibration method is proposed for a 3D laser scanning system built up by a 2D LiDAR with rotating platform. No reference measurements are required, except that a cube with known side lengths is used as the calibration object. The finite difference method (FDM) is employed to correct measuring parameters of the scanning system. The experiment and simulation demonstrate that the parameters error can be effectively compensated, and the accuracy of the scanning system is promoted apparently after calibration. © 2023, The Authors. Super-resolving the Magnetic Resonance (MR) image of a target contrast under the guidance of the corresponding auxiliary contrast, which provides additional anatomical information, is a new and effective solution for fast MR imaging. However, current multi-contrast super-resolution (SR) methods tend to concatenate different contrasts directly, ignoring their relationships in different clues, e.g., in the high-intensity and low-intensity regions. In this study, we propose a separable attention network (comprising high-intensity priority attention and low-intensity separation attention), named SANet. Our SANet could explore the areas of high-intensity and low-intensity regions in the "forward" and "reverse" directions with the help of the auxiliary contrast, while learning clearer anatomical structure and edge information for the SR of a target-contrast MR image. SANet provides three appealing benefits: (1) It is the first model to explore a separable attention mechanism that uses the auxiliary contrast to predict the high-intensity and low-intensity regions regions, diverting more attention to refining any uncertain details between these regions and correcting the fine areas in the reconstructed results. (2) A multi-stage integration module is proposed to learn the response of multi-contrast fusion at multiple stages, get the dependency between the fused representations, and boost their representation ability. (3) Extensive experiments with various state-of-the-art multi-contrast SR methods on fastMRI and clinical in vivo datasets demonstrate the superiority of our model. © 2021, CC BY.
