In the past few years, latency-sensitive task computing over the industrial internet of things (IIoT) has played a key role in an increasing number of intelligent applications, such as intelligent self-driving vehicles and unmanned aircraft systems. The edge computing paradigm provides a basic functional infrastructure for across-domain business task computing on distributed edge servers. With this observation, a trade-off between the mobile devices and the fixed edge servers is needed to run moving task computing in a low-latency way. Given this challenge, an intelligent server selection method, named SeeMe, is proposed in this paper. Technically speaking, this method aims at minimizing the communication capacity and the transferring capacity in a multiobjective optimization way to find a low-latency edge server. The experiments and comparison analysis verify the availability of our method. © 2022 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Software-Defined Data Center Networks (SDDCNs) utilizes Software Defined Networking (SDN) as a network architecture to achieve highly flexible, programmable, and automated management of Data Center Networks (DCNs). The high energy consumption of DCNs remains a persistent and significant challenge. Thus, the energy saving is crucial and imperative for DCNs. Current energy-efficient solutions primarily rely on flow consolidation and dynamic device sleeping techniques to reduce energy consumption. However, these approaches often yield long Flow Completion Time (FCT), potentially resulting in violations of service-level agreements, particularly for delay-sensitive applications. In this paper, we formulate the problem of minimizing the power consumption in SDDCNs as key objective while ensuring timely FCT for delay-sensitive applications. To solve this problem, we first introduce the Active Network Generation (ANG) approach, which generates a minimal active subnet with the least number of active devices while meeting the current traffic demand. Subsequently, we propose two algorithms based on the type of applications: the Delay-Tolerant Flow Route (DTFR) algorithm for delay-tolerant applications and the Delay-Sensitive Flow Route (DSFR) algorithm for delay-sensitive applications. Simulation results demonstrate that our propose solution achieves an energy-saving rate of up to 67.77% and significantly reduces FCT compared to benchmark solutions. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

Effective short text classification via the fusion of hybrid features for IoT social data

Nowadays short texts can be widely found in various social data in relation to the 5G-enabled Internet of Things (IoT). Short text classification is a challenging task due to its sparsity and the lack of context. Previous studies mainly tackle these problems by enhancing the semantic information or the statistical information individually. However, the improvement achieved by a single type of information is limited, while fusing various information may help to improve the classification accuracy more effectively. To fuse various information for short text classification, this article proposes a feature fusion method that integrates the statistical feature and the comprehensive semantic feature together by using the weighting mechanism and deep learning models. In the proposed method, we apply Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) to generate word vectors on the sentence level automatically, and then obtain the statistical feature, the local semantic feature and the overall semantic feature using Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) weighting approach, Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Bidirectional Gate Recurrent Unit (BiGRU). Then, the fusion feature is accordingly obtained for classification. Experiments are conducted on five popular short text classification datasets and a 5G-enabled IoT social dataset and the results show that our proposed method effectively improves the classification performance.

In this paper, we investigate the competitive content placement problem in Mobile Edge Caching (MEC) systems, where Edge Data Providers (EDPs) cache appropriate contents and trade them with requesters at a suitable price. Most of the existing works ignore the complicated strategic and economic interplay between content caching, pricing, and content sharing. Therefore, we propose a joint Mean-Field Game framework for mobile edge Caching and Pricing (MFG-CP) in large-scale dynamic MEC systems, which can facilitate distributed optimal decision-making based on the mean-field game theory. Specifi-cally, we first formulate the competitive content placement issue among EDPs as a non-cooperative stochastic differential game. To significantly reduce the communication and computation complexity, we further devise a mean-field model to approximate the collective impact of all EDPs on caching, trading, and sharing, by which each EDP can quickly estimate some unknown information without considerable interactions. Then, we develop a distributed best response scheme based on iterative learning, enabling each EDP to solely customize its optimal caching strategy and pricing policy. Besides, we theoretically prove the existence of a unique MFG equilibrium. Finally, trace-driven simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of MFG-CP compared with some baselines. © 2024 IEEE.

Close-space sublimation(CSS)has been demonstrated as an alternative vacuum deposition technique for fabricating organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs).CSS utilizes a planar donor plate pre-coated with organic thin films as an area source to rapidly transfer the donor film to a device substrate at temperatures below 200℃.CSS is also conformal and capable of depositing on odd-shaped substrates using flexible donor *** evaporation behaviors of organic donor films under CSS were fully characterized using model OLED materials and CSS-deposited films exhibited comparable device performances in an OLED stack to films deposited by conventional point *** low temperature and conformal nature of CSS,along with its high material utilization and short process time,make it a promising method for fabricating flexible OLED displays.

Despite spiking neural networks (SNNs) have demonstrated notable energy efficiency across various fields, the limited firing patterns of spiking neurons within fixed time steps restrict the expression of information, which impedes further improvement of SNN performance. In addition, current implementations of SNNs typically consider the firing rate or average membrane potential of the last layer as the output, lacking exploration of other possibilities. In this paper, we identify that the limited spike patterns of spiking neurons stem from the initial membrane potential (IMP), which is set to 0. By adjusting the IMP, the spiking neurons can generate additional firing patterns and pattern mappings. Furthermore, we find that in static tasks, the accuracy of SNNs at each time step increases as the membrane potential evolves from zero. This observation inspires us to propose a learnable IMP, which can accelerate the evolution of membrane potential and enables higher performance within a limited number of time steps. Additionally, we introduce the last time step (LTS) approach to accelerate convergence in static tasks, and we propose a label smooth temporal efficient training (TET) loss to mitigate the conflicts between optimization objective and regularization term in the vanilla TET. Our methods improve the accuracy by 4.05% on ImageNet compared to baseline and achieve state-of-the-art performance of 87.80% on CIFAR10-DVS and 87.86% on N-Caltech101. Improving the prediction accuracy of energy consumption in office buildings is necessary to achieve high energy efficiency in smart buildings. The existing forecasting methods rarely analyze the periodic characteristics of energy consumption independently. In this paper, a short-term office building energy consumption prediction model (DLnet) is proposed to address the problem of inefficiency in the utilization of periodic energy consumption ***, the period component of the energy consumption data is decomposed using STL, and the optimal period of the energy consumption data is searched for by a grid search algorithm, and then the Periodic block is constructed based on the optimal period;Secondly, the Time-series block data is constructed according to the data shape of the Periodic block;then the Time-series block data and the Periodic block data are trained and learned using LSTM;Finally, the prediction results of the Time-series block data and the Periodic block data are fused by linear *** four prediction accuracy indicators of the proposed model have been demonstrated to be 7%, 21%, 25%,and 26% higher than those of the LSTM model. © VDE VERLAG GMBH ∙ Berlin ∙ Offenbach.
