Recent Advances in Asymmetric Structural Composites for Excellent Electromagnetic Interference Shielding: A Review

Since electromagnetic pollution is detrimental to human health and the environment, numerous efforts have been successively made to achieve excellent electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness(EMI SE) via designing the hierarchical structures for electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding polymer composites. Among the plentiful structures, the asymmetric structures are currently a hot spot, principally categorizing into multi-layered, porous, fibrous, and segregated asymmetric structures, which endows the high EMI shielding performance for polymer composites incorporated with magnetic, conductive, and/or dielectric micro/nano-fillers, due to the “absorption-reflection-reabsorption” shielding mechanism. Therefore, this review provides the retrospection and summary of the efforts with respect to abundant asymmetric structures and multifunctional micro/nano-fillers for enhancing EMI shielding properties, which is conducive to the booming development of polymeric EMI shielding materials for the promising prospect in modern electronics and 5-generation(5G) technology.

Multi-drone logistics transportation and distribution have gradually become the focus of future logistics. So as to solve the multi-UAV logistics planning problem, the goal of this paper is to minimize the cost of take-off and variable-load flight, and builds a multi-UAV logistics planning model with constraints such as flight distance and logistics load. The Improved Genetic Simulated Annealing Algorithm(IGSAA) adds the SA mechanism on the basis of the classical GA, selectively adds non-optimal solutions and non-constrained solutions, and adopts the Improved Large Neighborhood Search Algorithm (ILNSA) to generate special algorithms with three strategies. By continuously updating the population iteration and selectively adding the probability according to the temperature change, the optimal UAV logistics planning is finally optimized. Finally, the simulation results close to reality show that compared with the initial random solution and the classical genetic algorithm, the improved genetic simulated annealing algorithm proposed in this paper reduces the flight cost of UAV by 16.78% and 8.49%, respectively, and can obtain lower transportation costs. This paper reports on a geometrical-shaping-based resonator design approach for in-line wideband rectangular waveguide bandpass filters (BPFs) aiming to improve the spurious suppression. The rectangular resonator is shaped with capacitive and inductive irises and the shaped resonator features irregular boundaries with the first spurious mode spectrally over an octave away from the fundamental mode. X-band 13%-fractional-bandwidth five-pole BPFs composed of uniform capacitive-iris-loaded resonators (filter I) and non-uniform hybrid-iris-loaded resonators (filter II) are developed. The shaping and non-uniform configuration of the resonators contribute to significantly improved stopband performance of the filter. The filter prototypes are manufactured additively and monolithically by incorporating Polyjet 3-D printing and electroless copper plating processes. The 3-D printed filters demonstrate excellent passband performance with the measured return loss and insertion loss of over 20 dB and lower than 0.3 dB, respectively. The first spurious passband appears at over 1.1× and 1.5× octaves away from the fundamental-mode passband for the filter I and filter II, respectively. © 2023 IEEE.

Sedimentary process research is of great significance for understanding the distribution and characteristics of *** the detailed observation and measurement of the Sangyuan outcrop in Luanping Basin,this paper studies the depositional process of the hyperpycnal flow deposits,and divides their depositional process into three phases,namely,acceleration,erosion and *** the acceleration phase,hyperpycnal flow begins to enter the basin nearby,and then speeds up *** developed in the acceleration phase are *** addition,the original deposits become unstable and are taken away by hyperpycnal flows under the eroding *** a result,there are a lot of mixture of red mud pebbles outside the basin and gray mud pebbles within the *** the erosion phase,the reverse deposits are eroded and become thinner or even ***,no reverse grading characteristic is found in the proximal major channel that is closer to the source,but it is still preserved in the middle branch channel that is far from the *** entering the deceleration phase,normally grading deposits appear and cover previous *** final deposits in the basin are *** are reverse,and others are *** are superimposed with each other under the action of hyperpycnal *** analysis of the Sangyuan outcrop demonstrates the sedimentary process and distribution of hyperpycnites,and reasonably explain the sedimentary characteristics of *** is helpful to the prediction of oil and gas exploration targets in gravity flow deposits.

In this paper, a new class of 3-D-printing-compatible E-plane elliptical waveguide (EWG) junction is proposed for wideband power dividers/combiners. The junction is based on an EWG architecture with tailored power dividing and impedance-matching structures that are configured in a Y-shape profile. The junction is devised according to a specified orientation for 3-D printing and it features smooth and intrinsically self-supportable waveguide sidewalls. Compared to conventional rectangular waveguide junctions, the proposed EWG junction exhibits dramatically enhanced structural compatibility with additive manufacturing technology. A novel four-way EWG-junction-based power divider is demonstrated at Ka band. The power divider is prototyped monolithically by incorporating Polyjet 3-D printing and electroless copper plating processes. RF performance of the power divider shows a return loss of mostly over 20 dB, transmission coefficients of averagely -6.5 dB, and small amplitude and phase imbalances across the entire Ka band, successfully validating the wideband and low-loss characteristics of the proposed EWG junction. © 2023 IEEE.

Graph Neural Networks with Learnable and Optimal Polynomial Bases

Polynomial filters, a kind of Graph Neural Networks, typically use a predetermined polynomial basis and learn the coefficients from the training data. It has been observed that the effectiveness of the model is highly dependent on the property of the polynomial basis. Consequently, two natural and fundamental questions arise: Can we learn a suitable polynomial basis from the training data? Can we determine the optimal polynomial basis for a given graph and node features? In this paper, we propose two spectral GNN models that provide positive answers to the questions posed above. First, inspired by Favard’s Theorem, we propose the FavardGNN model, which learns a polynomial basis from the space of all possible orthonormal bases. Second, we examine the supposedly unsolvable definition of optimal polynomial basis from Wang & Zhang (2022) and propose a simple model, OptBasisGNN, which computes the optimal basis for a given graph structure and graph signal. Topic shift detection aims to identify whether there is a change in the current topic of conversation or if a change is needed. The study found previous work did not evaluate the performance of large language models like ChatGPT on the task of topic shift. Therefore, this paper's main task and innovation lie in analyzing ChatGPT's performance on topic shift detection. To provide a more comprehensive evaluation, we conducted topic shift detection tasks on ChatGPT from three aspects: single utterances, adjacent utterances, and contextual levels. Additionally, to gauge the performance of large language models, we conducted experiments on multiple small-scale models and compared the results of the two models. Experimental results on the publicly available English TIAGE dataset showed that small-scale models exhibited lower recall in all three aspects, while ChatGPT performed better in the recall. This suggests that compared to small-scale models, large models are more capable of accurately detecting topic shifts. However, large models also exhibited lower precision, indicating that while ChatGPT can recognize content differences in utterances, its judgment on whether these different contents belong to the same topic is poor. © 2024 IEEE.

The role of sea surface temperature(SST)variability in the pre-monsoonal(April to July)intraseasonal oscillation(ISO)over the South China Sea(SCS)is investigated using the Community Earth System Model Version 2(CESM2).An Atmospheric Model Intercomparison Project(AMIP)simulation forced by daily sea surface temperatures(SSTs)derived from a parallel coupled general circulation model(CGCM)run was compared with observations and the mother coupled *** the coupled model,the SST warming leads the peak convection about 1/4 period as in *** paralell uncoupled model fails to simulate this phase relationship,implying the importance of air-sea coupling in reproducing realistic *** to the near-quadrature phase relationship between SST and precipitation ISOs during the ISO events,it is difficult to distinguish the active/passive role of SST from observations *** correlation in intraseasonal precipitation between the daily SST-forced AMIP and mother CGCM runs indicates that SST plays a role in driving the atmospheric ISO.

Accurate brain tumor segmentation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images requires the integration of multimodal data in effective collaborative learning. However, clinical scenarios often face missing modalities, significantly impacting segmentation performance. In this paper, we propose the penta-encoder with medical transformer (Penta-MedTrans) for incomplete multimodal learning, which consists of four main components: a modality-specific encoder (MSE), a modality-dynamic encoder (MDE), a multimodal fusion module (MMFM) and a convolutional decoder. The MSE extracts unique features for each modality, while the MDE captures inter-modal semantics to address missing modalities. The MMFM establishes and aligns long-range correlations between modal-invariant features and global semantics of tumor regions. The convolutional decoder generates robust segmentation results by progressively upsampling and fusing modality-invariant features. We extensively validated our method on the BraTS 2020 and BraTS 2021 datasets for brain tumor segmentation. Results showed that our method outperforms SOTA for incomplete multimodal brain tumor segmentation across most subsets. © 2024 IEEE.

Edge computing is regarded as an extension of cloud computing that brings computing and storage resources to the network edge. For some Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications such as supply-chain supervision and collaboration, Internet of Vehicles, real-time video analysis and so forth, users should be authenticated before visiting the geographically distributed edge servers. Limited by the considerable latency between the cloud and edge servers, and the limited capacity of edge servers, it is infeasible to copy the authentication method from cloud servers when users are authenticated in edge servers. In view of this challenge, this paper proposes a novel token-based authentication scheme, named EdgeAuth, that enables fast edge user authentication through collaboration among cloud servers and edge servers. Under the EdgeAuth scheme, edge servers can rapidly verify the credentials of users who have been authenticated by the cloud server. EdgeAuth can also protect users from a series of authentication attacks, for example, the replay attack, DoS attack and man-in-the-middle attack. The results of experiments conducted on a simulated edge computing environment validate the usefulness of EdgeAuth through a comparison in latency and throughput against two baseline schemes. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.
