This paper develops EiHi to solve the out of distribution (O.o.D.) problem in recognition, especially the distribution shift of background. EiHi net is a model learning paradigm that can be blessed on any visual backbone. Different from the traditional deep model, namely find out correlated relationship between sample features and corresponding categories, EiHi net suffers less from spurious correlations. Fusing SimCLR and VIC-Reg via explicit and dynamical establishment of original - positive - negative sample pair as a minimal learning element, EiHi net iteratively establishes a relationship close to the causal one between features and labels, while suppresses the spurious correlations. To further reinforce the ability of the proposed model on causal reasoning, we develop a human-in-the-loop strategy, with few guidance samples, to prune the representation space directly. Finally, it is shown that the developed EiHi net makes significant improvements in the most difficult and typical O.o.D. dataset NICO, compared with the current SOTA results, without any domain (e.g. background) information. although online education has improved efficiency of learners' access to high-quality educational resources, real-time interaction between instructors and learners have not yet been achieved in online personalized learning. Intelligent Tutoring systems (ITS) provides a feasible way to realize realtime personalized learning guidance and resource recommendations by applying AI to capture and analyze online learners' characteristics and behaviors. In this paper, reviews and trends of ITS are discussed and three challenges of ITS research & development are pointed out: learner model, guidance mechanism and human-computer interaction mechanism. In order to address these issues, parallel intelligence theory is introduced and a parallel intelligence education based ITS framework is proposed.

Finding the proper node ranking method for complex networks

Ranking node importance is crucial in understanding network structure and function on complex networks. Degree, h-index and coreness are widely used, but which one is more proper to a network associated with a dynamical process, e.g. SIR spreading process, is still unclear. To fill this gap, a, which is extracted from the fitting 1 function (f(x) = 1 − e2a(x−b)+1) of the average number of nodes in each radius of the neighborhood of a node, is proposed. Experiment results which are carried out on twenty real-world networks show that a can classify which of the three measures (degree, h-index and coreness) is more proper to a network in ranking node importance. We also find that [b/3] is a good indicator for forecasting the optimal radius of the neighborhood of a node in ranking node importance for a given network. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first solution of this interesting and open issue. Furthermore, by extending the range of neighborhood where we construct an operator ℋ on of a node, we propose a new method to quantify the importance of a node. The ranking accuracies of most networks can be improved when the radius is increased from 0 to its forecasting optimal radius and the improvement, for the best case, reaches up to 111%. The performances will reduce on half of the networks studied in this paper if we roughly extend the radius of the neighborhood. Our work deepens the understanding of how to find out the proper node ranking method for complex networks. This paper proposes a moving target tracking control framework for a biomimetic robotic fish. Inspired by a boxfish in nature, a single-joint robotic fish with a pair of one-degree-of-freedom pectoral fins is first developed. A camera and an infrared sensor are specially employed to recognize the underwater target. In order to describe the fishlike swimming, a dynamic model based on the Newton-Euler method is constructed. Meanwhile, according to the control approach of fishlike swimming motion, a target tracking control framework including a speed controller and a direction controller is proposed to track a static or moving target, where the oscillation frequency and directional bias parameters are adopted to regulate the swimming speed and direction, respectively. Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed target tracking control method, where the robotic fish is controlled to track a red target moving in a circle at a certain speed.

An articulation point (AP) is any node whose removal increases the number of connected components of a graph. There is no doubt that this kind of node which occupies a non-ignorable fraction of real-world networks plays a key role in ensuring the connectivity. However, we should not thus neglect the impacts of non-APs nodes. In this paper, we define a local AP (LAP) whose removal will increase the number of connected components within its r-step neighborhood. Through investigating the fraction of LAPs in forty-five real networks, we find a critical proportion Scr, which is equal to 0.5 (S = r/D, D is the diameter of a network), and this result can also be turned out in ER networks. In addition, we present a unique advantage of LAPs in dismantling networks under the process of targeted attack, compared with APs, which provide another way of thinking to improve the calculation efficiency of APs and design better targeted attack strategy of network *** Codes Game theory, economics, social and behavioral sciences Copyright © 2018, The Authors. Nowadays, AI education from Kindergarten to 9 th grade(K-9) is in full swing in China, but many challenges exist, such as fragmented AI curricula, ineffective teaching tools, and uneven educational resources in urban and rural areas, etc. So this paper presents an in-depth study of the current status of K-9 AI education in Qingdao area through questionnaires, expert discussions, and field visits to sort out existing problems and then put forward corresponding advice and suggestions. Collected data is then analyzed from the perspectives of government, schools, teachers, students and parents, respectively. Results show that AI-related educational activities have been carried out in Qingdao area to improve students' AI literacy. But efforts are still needed to make such education more systematic, standardized, and personalized. Finally the paper made a list of recommendations corresponding to these needed efforts.

One of the main influencing factors of battery electric vehicle (BEV) application is the high-cost of the battery. We consider to apply the battery of BEV to smart residential environments when the BEV is idle, so that we can lower the utility cost. Therefore, an adaptive dynamic programming (ADP) method is designed to solve the optimal battery management, which avoids the dimension disaster of the complex nonlinear BEV system. First, the operation modes of the battery are analyzed, and the problem statement is carried out. Then, the corresponding self-learning optimization algorithm is developed based on ADP. Finally, numerical results by experiment simulations are used to verify the ADP algorithm.

Social engineering (SE) attacks remain a significant threat to both individuals and organizations. The advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including diffusion models and large language models (LLMs), has potentially intensified these threats by enabling more personalized and convincing attacks. This survey paper categorizes SE attack mechanisms, analyzes their evolution, and explores methods for measuring these threats. It highlights the challenges in raising awareness about the risks of AI-enhanced SE attacks and offers insights into developing proactive and adaptable defense strategies. Additionally, we introduce a categorization of the evolving nature of AI-powered social engineering attacks into"3E phases": Enlarging, wherein the magnitude of attacks expands through the leverage of digital media;Enriching, introducing novel attack vectors and techniques;and Emerging, signifying the advent of novel threats and methods. Moreover, we emphasize the necessity for a robust framework to assess the risk of AI-powered SE attacks. By identifying and addressing gaps in existing research, we aim to guide future studies and encourage the development of more effective defenses against the growing threat of AI-powered social engineering. Recently, some learning-based methods such as reinforcement learning and imitation learning have been used to address the control problem for autonomous driving. Note that reinforcement learning has strong reliance on the simulation environment and requires a handcraft design of the reward function. Considering different factors in autonomous driving, a general evaluation method is still being explored. The purpose of imitation learning is to learn the control policy through human demonstrations. It is meaningful to compare the control performances of current main imitation learning methods based on the provided dataset. In this paper, we compare three typical imitation learning algorithms: Behavior cloning, Dataset Aggregation (DAgger) and Information maximizing Generative Adversarial Imitation Learning (InfoGAIL) in the The Open Racing Car Simulator (TORCS) and Car Learning to Act (CARLA) simulators, respectively. The performance of algorithms is evaluated on lane-keeping task in racing and urban environment. The experiment results show DAgger performs best in simple lane keeping problem, and InfoGAIL has the unique advantage of distinguishing different driving styles from expert demonstrations.

Cooperation is common in nature and has been pivotal to the development of human society. However, the details of how and why cooperation evolved remain poorly understood. Cross-species investigation of cooperation may help to elucidate the evolution of cooperative strategies. Thus, we designed a novel cooperative behavioral paradigm and quantitatively examined the cooperative abilities and strategies of mice, rats, and tree shrews. We found that social communication played a key role in the establishment of new cooperation, and that increased cooperative ability and a more efficient cooperative strategy emerged as a function of the evolutionary hierarchy of the tested species. We also found neural representations of distinct aspects of cooperation in the brains of rats through in vivo electrophysiological recording. Cooperation-preferential signals were identified in addition to material reward-preferential signals, each of which may represent internal drives for cooperation. © 2021, The Authors.
