An object grasping method based on fuzzy approaching for a mobile manipulator with an Eye-in-Hand CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor transistor) camera was proposed. The approaching guidance identifier with double cross was recognized by the mobile manipulator, and the angle between the line from mobile platform to the center of the identifier and its heading direction were served as the inputs of fuzzy controller. A double input and single output fuzzy controller was designed to regulate the direction of the mobile platform for smooth approaching. When the object (a red cylinder with double black lines) was in the workspace of manipulator, the mobile platform stops and the object was grasped by the manipulator with its joint angles solved based on inverse kinematics. Experiments results show the validity of the proposed approach.

Social networks often serve as a critical medium for information dissemination, diffusion of epidemics, and spread of behavior, by shared activities or similarities be- tween individuals. Recently, we have witnessed an explosion of interest in studying social influence and spread dynamics in social networks. To date, relatively little material has been provided on a comprehensive review in this field. This brief survey addresses this issue. We present the current significant empirical studies on real social systems, including network construction methods, measures of network, and newly em- pirical results. We then provide a concise description of some related social models from both macro- and micro-level per- spectives. Due to the difficulties in combining real data and simulation data for verifying and validating real social sys- tems, we further emphasize the current research results of computational experiments. We hope this paper can provide researchers significant insights into better understanding the characteristics of personal influence and spread patterns in large-scale social systems.

A motion control method for mobile robot based on sub-regions evaluation in local sensing environment was proposed. Firstly, the local environment was divided into multiple sub-regions based on the sensing information provided by laser range finder. Then, each sub-region was evaluated by considering the distance influence factor, as well as visual guide and memory-based judgment. Finally, the optimal sub-region adapted to current environment will be used for motion decision of mobile robot. Experimental results show that the proposed method is capable of dividing sensing environment into multiple sub-regions and producing the optimal sub-region adapted to current environment. Motion control for robot was realized and the effectiveness of the proposed method was verified.

A robotic fish propelling itself by two long fins was designed and implemented from the inspiration of stingrays. The yaw control of this robotic fish was studied. The dynamic model was studied based on the stress analysis of the robotic fish. A yaw controller was designed based on the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) technique. The model error and external disturbance were unified into a total system disturbance, which was estimated by an extended state observer. By compensating the total system disturbance in the control signal, the yaw controlsystem was simplified to a typical second order cascade integral system which could be easily controlled by use of a more effective nonlinear feedback control. The ADRC based yaw controller was verified through simulations showing that the designed controller can effectively control the yaw angle of the robotic fish and has good dynamic and static characteristics.

Micro-simulation becomes more and more important in the Intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) research, because it can provide detailed descriptions of the system. For a multi-agent systems (MAS) modeling of an ITS, the computation burden is large, as it involves the computation of the state changing of all the agents. And, there are many multi-objective optimization problems in the ITS research. In this paper, we solve the traffic light signaling optimization problem and we take the average delay time and the average stop times as two objectives. We use a famous method of Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II). As NSGA-II can be viewed as an intelligent way of running a number of micro-simulations, usually the computation burden is huge. Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) have been a popular tool for parallel computing. The real transportation system runs in parallel and we think that a parallel tool is more suitable for the simulation and optimization of the system. We test GPU based NSGA-II method on a 4 intersection lattice road network, and on the 18 intersection road network of the Zhongguancun area of Beijing. Compared with the CPU version, the GPU version implementation achieves a speedup factor of 21.46 and 27.64 respectively.

The core function of any profitable firm is capturing a share of the value that customer perceives in the firm's offering. Value capture is traditionally considered to relate to a competitive advantage at the firm level, but not the firm network level. However, the ever increasing role of information and knowledge in today's economy is profoundly changing how firms can create competitive advantages. Among these changes, we highlight reducing transaction costs in various areas of the economy, which drives the economy to organize more toward rapidly evolving networks or smaller firms. There is also an opposite trend for some internet firms to become larger due to economies of scale and due to network externalities. In this position paper, we examine the issue of value capture by firms that are increasingly small and operate in rapidly changing and evolving networks. We conclude by outlining future research on firm-level capabilities that are required to enable value capture in new forms of dynamic networks.

Unlike triple-polarized antennas, dual-polarized antennas can be easily implemented into thickness limited devices and thus have received much attention recently. Dual-polarized antennas have the potential to double the channel capacity in comparison with an omnidirectional single-input single-output (SISO) system. However, in real three-dimensional (3D) scenarios, dual-polarized antennas cannot capture the arriving power from the third polarization direction, which is orthogonal to the two-dimensional (2D) polarization plane. This will lead to power loss, which may significantly affect the resultant channel capacity. By proposing a novel two-sphere single-bounced geometry-based stochastic model (GBSM) and rigorously analyzing the change of polarization after single-bounced scattering, this paper studies the impact of the power loss on the channel capacity and specifies the conditions under which the channel capacity of dual-polarized systems is even worse than that of omnidirectional SISO systems. Not only that this is the first endeavor on this subject, but also this work is of practical importance in guiding appropriate deployment of dual-polarized antennas in real 3D indoor scenarios.
