Currently, many computation offloading studies in Mobile Edge computing (MEC) mainly focus on the multi-user and multi-task offloading, where the tasks are independent and inseparable. However, nowadays many mobile applications, such as Augmented Reality (AR) glasses, face recognition, etc., can be classified into sequential tasks. Dependencies among tasks and resource competition among multiple users in the heterogeneous edge environment make the offloading problem very challenging. In this paper, we propose a new multi-user sequential task (MUST) framework to address the above challenge. Specifically, we present a comprehensive analysis of the time cost of the task offloading process in the MUST framework and define the multi-user sequential task offloading problem. Moreover, we prove the problem is NP-hard and propose a reMUST algorithm based on regular expression to obtain the approximate optimal solution. Numerous experiments have shown that the proposed method is superior to existing alternatives in terms of cost and system scalability. © 2021, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications engineering.

The conventional Hall effect is linearly proportional to the field component or magnetization component perpendicular to a film. Despite the increasing theoretical proposals on the Hall effect to the in-plane field or magnetization in various special systems induced by the Berry curvature, such an unconventional Hall effect has only been experimentally reported in Weyl semimetals and in a heterodimensional superlattice. Here, we report an unambiguous experimental observation of the antisymmetric planar Hall effect(APHE) with respect to the in-plane magnetic field in centrosymmetric rutile RuO_(2) and IrO_(2) single-crystal films. The measured Hall resistivity is found to be linearly proportional to the component of the applied in-plane magnetic field along a particular crystal axis and to be independent of the current direction or temperature. Both the experimental observations and theoretical calculations confirm that the APHE in rutile oxide films is induced by the Lorentz force. Our findings can be generalized to ferromagnetic materials for the discovery of anomalous Hall effects and quantum anomalous Hall effects induced by in-plane magnetization. In addition to significantly expanding knowledge of the Hall effect, this work opens the door to explore new members in the Hall effect family.

Users usually focus on the application-level requirements which are quite friendly and direct to them. However, there are no existing tools automating the application-level requirements to infrastructure provisioning and application deployment. Although some security issues have been solved during the development phase, the undiscovered vulnerabilities remain hidden threats to the application’s security. Cyberspace mimic defense (CMD) technologies can help to enhance the application’s security despite the existence of the vulnerability. In this paper, the concept of SECurity-as-a-Service (SECaaS) is proposed with CMD technologies in cloud environments. The experiment on it was implemented. It is found that the application’s security is greatly improved to meet the user’s security and performance requirements within budgets through SECaaS. The experimental results show that SECaaS can help the users to focus on application-level requirements (monetary costs, required security level, etc.) and automate the process of application orchestration. © 2021, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

The high efficiency of quantum algorithms is caused by the quantum parallelism of the superposition principle and the quantum entangled, but traditional quantum genetic algorithms only use the quantum superposition principle. In order to further improve the performance of the algorithm, this paper proposes a new higher-order quantum genetic algorithm, which adds quantum entanglement properties on the basis of the principle of quantum superposition. Finally, the traditional quantum genetic algorithm and the higher-order quantum genetic algorithm are used to test a set of nonlinear equations many times. The results show that compared with the traditional quantum genetic algorithm, the evolutionary update operation of the higher-order quantum genetic algorithm does not involve multiple judgment conditions of the traditional quantum gate, requires less evolutionary algebra, and can converge quickly. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In the past two decades, the field of quantum computing has developed rapidly, is gradually able to solve some difficult classical problems. With the development of the facilities for Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum(NISQ), the NISQ technology addresses the existing Quantum programming languages or frameworks, suggesting that they cannot fully meet the requirements of Quantum computers. In recent years, some quantum programming languages or frameworks have emerged which claim to support the classical computing algorithms of heterogeneous quantum. However, the code is too cumbersome and redundant, and it is difficult to map the code to heterogeneous quantum classical computation while meeting the requirements of timing. Therefore, a modular programming framework of heterogeneous quantum classical computing algorithm with NISQ function is proposed. The framework optimizes the quantum code and retains the quantum classical interactions that satisfy the temporal constraints. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Quantum algorithms of factoring problem have been paid more and more attention since Shor's algorithm was proposed. Combining the current quantum computer hardware level and integer factorization quantum algorithms, this paper proposes a "classical + quantum"hybrid solution. This scheme first adopts classical methods and corresponding rules in the preprocessing step to simplify the nonlinear equations, which is used to reduce the number of qubits needed for the cost Hamiltonian. Then the variational quantum algorithm is used to find the approximate ground state of the cost Hamiltonian, which encodes the solution of the nonlinear equations. The program was verified on the IBM QX4 quantum machine, and the results showed that this hybrid solution can effectively reduce the quantum resources required to solve the nonlinear equations. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Talking face generation (TFG) allows for producing lifelike talking videos of any character using only facial images and accompanying text. Abuse of this technology could pose significant risks to society, creating the urgent need for research into corresponding detection methods. However, research in this field has been hindered by the lack of public datasets. In this paper, we construct the first large-scale multi-scenario talking face dataset (MSTF), which contains 22 audio and video forgery techniques, filling the gap of datasets in this field. The dataset covers 11 generation scenarios and more than 20 semantic scenarios, closer to the practical application scenario of TFG. Besides, we also propose a TFG detection framework, which leverages the analysis of both global and local coherence in the multimodal content of TFG videos. Therefore, a region-focused smoothness detection module (RSFDM) and a discrepancy capture-time frame aggregation module (DCTAM) are introduced to evaluate the global temporal coherence of TFG videos, aggregating multi-grained spatial information. Additionally, a visual-audio fusion module (V-AFM) is designed to evaluate audiovisual coherence within a localized temporal perspective. Comprehensive experiments demonstrate the reasonableness and challenges of our datasets, while also indicating the superiority of our proposed method compared to the state-of-the-art deepfake detection approaches. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Image forgery localization (IFL) is a crucial technique for preventing tampered image misuse and protecting social safety. However, due to the rapid development of image tampering technologies, extracting more comprehensive and accurate forgery clues remains an urgent challenge. To address these challenges, we introduce a novel information-theoretic IFL framework named SUMI-IFL that imposes sufficiency-view and minimality-view constraints on forgery feature representation. First, grounded in the theoretical analysis of mutual information, the sufficiency-view constraint is enforced on the feature extraction network to ensure that the latent forgery feature contains comprehensive forgery clues. Considering that forgery clues obtained from a single aspect alone may be incomplete, we construct the latent forgery feature by integrating several individual forgery features from multiple perspectives. Second, based on the information bottleneck, the minimality-view constraint is imposed on the feature reasoning network to achieve an accurate and concise forgery feature representation that counters the interference of task-unrelated features. Extensive experiments show the superior performance of SUMI-IFL to existing state-of-the-art methods, not only on in-dataset comparisons but also on cross-dataset comparisons. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

Computational neuroscience is interdisciplinary and plays an essential role in facilitating the development of cognitive neuroscience and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). To explore the computational efficiency of Spiking Neural Network (SNN) on a computational hardware platform, we deploy SNN on the Xilinx Zynq7 Zedboard Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Specifically, we use multi-compartmental Hodgkin-Huxley (HH) neuron model to construct neural circuits via C++ code and adopt a biologically plausible calcium concentration-based plasticity model as the learning rule of SNN. Our experimental results show that the FPGA platform can support parallel computation of the multi-compartment HH model with synaptic plasticity. Compared to other methods, FPGA-based computing has a significant speed advantage, suggesting that FPGA can be a good choice for implementing brain-inspired computation. © 2021 IEEE.
