Mechanistic insights into the synergetic remediation and amendment effects of zeolite/biochar composite on heavy metal-polluted red soil

Red soil,the most critical soil resource in tropical/subtropical regions worldwide,faces tremendous threats,including nutrient deficiency,acidification,and heavy metal *** is a great demand for multifunctional eco-materials capable of modifying this ***,we used widely distributed soil and biomass to develop a zeolite/biochar composite for synergistic red soil remediation and *** the composite material,the Pb^(2+) and Cd^(2+) remediation efficiencies reached 92.8%and 92.9%,respectively,in stems under optimal ***,the acidity and nutrient deficiency conditions of red soil significantly *** atomic-scale interaction mechanism during the remediation and amendment process was elucidated with complementary characterization methods,which revealed that in the zeolite/biochar composite material,zeolite contributes to longterm heavy metal remediation ***,biochar is responsible for soil quality amendment and short-term heavy metal ***,for the first time,single-atom heavy metal ions were observed on biochar during the remediation process,indicating the broad distribution of single atoms in the natural environment.

Analysis of China’s PM_(2.5)and ozone coordinated control strategy based on the observation data from 2015 to 2020

The coordinated control of PM_(2.5)and ozone has become the strategic goal of national air pollution *** the gradual decline in PM_(2.5)concentration and the aggravation of ozone pollution,a better understanding of the coordinated control of PM_(2.5)and ozone is urgently ***,we collected and sorted air pollutant data for 337 cities from 2015 to 2020 to explore the characteristics of PM_(2.5)and ozone pollution based on China’s five major air pollution *** results show that it is necessary to continue to strengthen the emission reduction in PM_(2.5)and ozone precursors,and control NO_(x) and VOCs while promoting a dramatic emission reduction in PM_(2.5).The primary method of curbing ozone pollution is to strengthen the emission control of VOCs,with a long-term strategy of achieving substantial emission reductions in NO_(x),because VOCs and NO_(x) are also precursors to PM_(2.5);hence,their reductions also contribute to the reduction in PM_(2.5).Therefore,the implementation of a multipollutant emission reduction control strategy aimed at the prevention and control of PM_(2.5)and ozone pollution is the only means to realize the coordinated control of PM_(2.5)and ozone.

Feasibility study of a process for the reduction of sulfur oxides in flue gas of fluid catalytic cracking unit using the riser reactor

In this work,a new process for achieving the recovery of elemental sulfur by utilizing a fluidized catalytic cracking(FCC) riser reactor for SOxtreatment(FCC-DeSOx) is *** process leverages the high temperatures and hydrocarbon concentrations in the FCC riser reactor to convert SOxinto H_(2)***,H_(2)S,along with the cracked gas,is processed downstream to produce *** analysis of the key reduction reactions in the FCC-DeSOxprocess revealed that complete conversion of SOxto H_(2)S is feasible in the dry gas(hydrogen-rich) prelift zone,as well as the upper and lower zones of the riser,upon achieving thermodynamic *** studies were conducted to replicate the conditions of these reaction zones using a low concentration of hydrogen gas as the reducing *** process optimization,investigation of the minimum reaction time,and kinetic studies,the potential of this method for the complete reduction of SOxwas further confirmed.

Nitrosamines are a class of carcinogens which have been detected widely in food,water,some pharmaceuticals as well as *** objectives of this paper include reviewing the basic information on tobacco consumption and nitrosamine contents,and assessing the health risks of tobacco nitrosamines exposure to Chinese *** searched the publications in English from“Web of Science”and those in Chinese from the“China National Knowledge Infrastructure”in 2022 and collected 151 literatures with valid *** content of main nitrosamines in tobacco,including 4-(methylnitrosoamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone(NNK),N-nitrosonornicotine(NNN),N-nitrosoanatabine(NAT),N-nitrosoanabasine(NAB),total tobacco-specific nitrosamines(TSNA),and N-nitrosodimethylamine(NDMA)were *** information of daily tobacco consumption of smokers in 30 provinces of China was also ***,the intakes of NNN,NNK,NAT,NAB,TSNAs,and NDMA via tobacco smoke were estimated as 1534ng/day,591 ng/day,685 ng/day,81 ng/day,2543 ng/day,and 484 ng/day by adult smokers in30 provinces,*** cancer risk(CR)values for NNN and NNK inhalation intake were further calculated as 1.44×10^(-5)and 1.95×10^(-4).The CR value for NDMA intake via tobacco smoke(inhalation:1.66×10^(-4))indicates that NDMA is similarly dangerous in tobacco smoke when compared with the *** China,the CR values caused by average nitrosamines intake via various exposures and their order can be estimated as the following:smoke(3.75×10^(-4))>food(1.74×10^(-4))>drinking water(1.38×10^(-5)).Smokers in China averagely suffer 200%of extra cancer risk caused by nitrosamines in tobacco when compared with non-smokers.

Plasmid-mediated transfer of antibiotic resistance genes and biofilm formation in a simulated drinking water distribution system under chlorine pressure

The effects of disinfectants and plasmid-based antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)on the growth of microorganisms and the plasmid-mediated transfer of ARGs in the water and biofilm of the drinkingwater distribution system under simulated conditionswere *** heterotrophic plate count of the water in reactors with 0.1 mg/L NaClO and NH_(2)Cl was higher than in the control *** no similar phenomenon in *** thewater of reactors containing NaClO,the aphA and bla geneswere lower than in the antibiotic resistant bacteria group,while both genes were higher in the water of reactors with NH_(2)Cl than in the control *** may promote the transfer of ARGs in the water *** genes in the biofilm of the reactors containing chlorine were lower than the control *** analysis between ARGs and water quality parameters revealed that the copy numbers of the aphA gene were significantly positively correlated with the copy numbers of the bla gene in water and significantly negatively correlated in biofilm(p<0.05).The results of the sequencing assay showed that bacteria in the biofilm,in the presence of disinfectant,were primarily Gram-negative.1.0 mg/L chlorine decreased the diversity of the community in the *** relative abundance of some bacteria that may undergo transfer increased in the biofilm of the reactor containing 0.1 mg/L chlorine.

Advanced Grid-Forming Undersea Pumped Storage to Enable 100% Renewable Offshore Oilfield Power Systems

To advance carbon reduction of the offshore oilfield power system (OOPS), the grid-forming undersea pumped storage system (GFM-UPSS) emerges as a promising solution. This paper introduces a novel framework for a 100% renewable OOPS utilizing the GFM-UPSS. Firstly, the control strategy of the GFM-UPSS is presented. It consists of the grid-side converter (GSC), machine-side converter (MSC), and reversible pump-turbine (RPT) to achieve frequency and voltage regulation. A steady-state model is then developed detailing the water head, power, and volume of the spherical shell. In addition, the paper explores the converter parameter impacts on the GFM-UPSS transient model and derives the closed-form solutions. With the steady-state model, an optimal sizing method is presented and economic advantages in the marine environment are studied for the GFM-UPSS. Finally, EMT simulations are conducted to assess the frequency & voltage stabilities and verify the effectiveness of the GFM-UPSS in enabling a 100% renewable OOPS. The optimal sizing results show that construction costs, mainly for OWP, are dominated and are influenced by sphere radius, placement depth, and start-stop cycles, while a 2.5 capacity ratio between OWP and GFM-UPSS consistently emerges as optimal. Moreover, analysis of transient stability shows that it improves with higher frequency & voltage modulation coefficient and lower virtual impedance. The impact of RPT and MSC, mainly on frequency regulation, is determined by the DC droop coefficient and turbine inertia. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, an interval estimation scheme is developed for delayed switched positive systems（DSPS） with mode-dependent average dwell time switching. A lossless zonotopic estimation approach is proposed for the delayed intersection zonotope with the positive generator matrix. First, considering the existence of asynchronism between the system mode and the correction matrix mode, the mismatched intersection zonotope is constructed for DSPS to verify the consistency between the system model and ***, by utilizing the introduced radius definitions, the ?∞performance is addressed to optimize the size of delayed intersection zonotopes. Subsequently, we present a joint-design approach of switching signals and the mode-dependent correction matrix by constructing positive generator matrix-based delayed radius functions. Furthermore, guaranteed nonnegative state bounds are derived for the considered DSPS based on the proposed lossless zonotopic estimation criteria. Finally, detailed simulations are conducted to validate the feasibility and superiority of the developed methods.
