This paper investigates the boundedness of the Disturbance Observer (DO) for linear discrete-time systems. In contrast to previous studies that focus on analyzing and/or designing observer gains, our analysis and synthesis approach is based on a set-membership viewpoint. From this viewpoint, a necessary and sufficient existence condition of bounded DOs is first established, which can be easily verified. Furthermore, a set-membership filter-based DO is developed, and its completeness is proved;thus, our proposed DO is bounded if and only if bounded DOs exist. We also prove that the proposed DO has the capability to achieve the worst-case optimality, which can provide a benchmark for the design of DOs. The blast furnace (BF) is the main equipment in ironmaking industry in China. For the BF, the production and the smooth operation largely depend on a reasonable burden structure. In the burden structure modelling, the burden descent is the weak link due to the black-box nature of the burden descending process. The viscous flow model (VFM) is a widely used burden descent model with relatively high accuracy. However, when adopted to determine the burden structure, the VFM can only perform under a constant charging matrix. In this work, we incorporate the VFM into the burden structure model which is capable of utilizing varying charging matrixes. First, to incorporate the VFM, a new layout of the burden structure model is designed. Then, to address the multiple burden descents problem caused by the VFM, a new strategy implementing the VFM is proposed. With this strategy, the multiple burden descents are compact into one solution process, and the model efficiency is thereby increased. Finally, the case study on the performance of the proposed burden structure model is carried out. Results show that the proposed model is able to capture the layer details in the burden. Results also show that, unlike the VFM alone, this VFM-based model is able to utilize varying charging matrix and depict structure of each individual layer.

GotFlow3D: Recurrent Graph Optimal Transport for Learning 3D Flow Motion in Particle Tracking

Flow visualization technologies such as particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) are broadly used in understanding the all-pervasiveness three-dimensional (3D) turbulent flow from nature and industrial processes. Despite the advances in 3D acquisition techniques, the developed motion estimation algorithms in particle tracking remain great challenges of large particle displacements, dense particle distributions and high computational cost. By introducing a novel deep neural network based on recurrent Graph Optimal Transport, called GotFlow3D, we present an end-to-end solution to learn the 3D fluid flow motion from double-frame particle sets. The proposed network constructs two graphs in the geometric and feature space and further enriches the original particle representations with the fused intrinsic and extrinsic features learnt from a graph neural network. The extracted deep features are subsequently utilized to make optimal transport plans indicating the correspondences of particle pairs, which are then iteratively and adaptively retrieved to guide the recurrent flow learning. Experimental evaluations, including assessments on numerical experiments and validations on real-world experiments, demonstrate that the proposed GotFlow3D achieves state-of-the-art performance against both recently-developed scene flow learners and particle tracking algorithms, with impressive accuracy, robustness and generalization ability, which can provide deeper insight into the complex dynamics of broad physical and biological systems. © 2022, CC BY.

With the application of damping controllers developed using remote feedback signals provided by phasor measurement unit (PMU) and wida-area measurement system (WAMS), the wind power generation system (WPGS) can damp the inter-area oscillations of power system. Nevertheless, the damping control system of WPGS may suffer from malicious cyber attacks, which will deteriorate the performance of WPGS and even destabilize the power system operation. This paper considers the various types of cyber attacks, including false data injection attack (FDIA), time-delay attack (TDA), denial of service (DoS) attack, coordinated cyber-physical attack (CCPA), and analyzes the effects of these cyber attacks on WPGS in damping inter-area oscillations of power system. Simulation studies are carried out on a two-area four-machine power system integrated with WPGS to investigate the cyber security of WPGS. © 2021 IEEE

Photocatalytic H2 evolution and selective oxidation of Hydroxymethylfurfura (HMF) occur in synergy, which improves the utilization of photogenerated carriers. In this paper, Ti-MOFs with noble metal (NM) co-doping was used in the H2 evolution and HMF oxidation to prepare a highly efficient photocatalyst. Under visible light irradiation, the formation rate of H2 and 2,5-dicarbonylfuran (DFF) was significantly increased by 4.03 times and 4.65 times compared with the original Ti-MOF. In this process, the separation of photoexcited electrons (e-) and holes (h+) is promoted and both e- and h+ are effectively utilized. From the density functional theory (DFT) calculations and XPS spectra results, it can be seen that the e- generated by the photoexcitation of Ti-MOF will transfer spontaneously to Pt, promoting the utilization of e-. The catalysts are effect for different biomass substrates as well. This work improves separation of the photo-induced carriers and enhances the oxidation ability by adjusting the valence band of metal loading, providing a new research direction for the evolution H2 in the conversion of HMF to DFF. © 2023, The Authors. Array antenna, as one kind of complex electronic equipment, has been widely applied in the fields of ground, sea, air and space as the core equipment of aerospace, air defense, and early warning detection. The mechanical structure of the antenna is not only the carrier for the electromagnetic performance, but also restricts the realization of the performance. The complex service environment and multiple types of antenna platforms have raised more demands on the structure design of the array antenna. For example, the antenna for the airborne platform faces severe restrictions on space, weight, and high-density heat dissipation, and for the missile-borne platform is subjected to high temperature ablation of the radome. Moreover, with the increase of antenna frequency and the development of structural integration, these impact and constraints have become tighter, resulting in the seriously restriction of realizing the high-performance antenna. The traditional antenna structure design concept and system architecture need to undergo significant changes in order to meet the increasing demands, as array antenna has extended its important role in more fields including 5G/6G communications, meteorological observation and satellite broadcasting. Following are some new ideas and suggestions on the key technologies of future structure design of array antenna from five aspects.

This study compared the three wastewater pretreatments of ozonation,Fe2þ-S2O82and freeze-thawing(F/T)in the disintegration,anaerobic digestion(AD)and final disposal of the *** F/T pretreatment increased the dewaterability and settleability of the sludge by 7.8%and 47.1%,*** ozonation pretreatment formed more volatile fatty acids(VFAs),with a peak value of 320.82 mg SCOD/L and controlled the release of *** Fe2þ-S2O82pretreatment removed heavy metals through the absorption and flocculation of ferric particles formed *** the anaerobic digestion of the sludge,the ozonation pretreatment accelerated the hydrolysis rate(k)rather than the biochemical methane potential(B0)of the sludge due to the high VFA content in the ***,the F/T pretreatment facilitated the B0 with great economic efficiency by enhancing the solubilisation of the *** Fe2þ-S2O82pretreatment decreased the methane production,the ferric particle was a unique advantage in the disintegration and harmless disposal of the *** digested sludge had more VFAs after ozonation pretreatment,which contributed to the recycling of *** addition,the lower sludge volume could save the expense of transportation and disposal by ozonation *** pretreatments had different *** comparative study provided information allowing the selection of the type of pretreatment to achieve different objectives of the treatment and disposal of sludge.

Domain-Guided Conditional Diffusion Model for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation

Limited transferability hinders the performance of deep learning models when applied to new application scenarios. Recently, Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) has achieved significant progress in addressing this issue via learning domain-invariant features. However, the performance of existing UDA methods is constrained by the large domain shift and limited target domain data. To alleviate these issues, we propose DomAin-guided Conditional Diffusion Model (DACDM) to generate high-fidelity and diversity samples for the target domain. In the proposed DACDM, by introducing class information, the labels of generated samples can be controlled, and a domain classifier is further introduced in DACDM to guide the generated samples for the target domain. The generated samples help existing UDA methods transfer from the source domain to the target domain more easily, thus improving the transfer performance. Extensive experiments on various benchmarks demonstrate that DACDM brings a large improvement to the performance of existing UDA methods. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Deep learning-based reduced order model for three-dimensional unsteady flow using mesh transformation and stitching

Artificial intelligence-based three-dimensional(3D) fluid modeling has gained significant attention in recent years. However, the accuracy of such models is often limited by the processing of irregular flow data. In order to bolster the credibility of near-wall flow prediction, this paper presents a deep learning-based reduced order model for three-dimensional unsteady flow using the transformation and stitching of multi-block structured meshes. To begin with, full-order flow data is provided by numerical simulations that rely on multi-block structured meshes. A mesh transformation technique is applied to convert each structured grid with data into a corresponding uniform and orthogonal grid, which is subsequently stitched and filled. The resulting snapshots in the transformed domain contain accurate flow information for multiple meshes and can be directly fed into a structured neural network without requiring any interpolation operation. Subsequently, a network model based on a fully convolutional neural network is constructed to predict flow dynamics accurately. To validate the strategy's feasibility, the flow around a sphere with Re=300 was investigated, and the results obtained using traditional Cartesian interpolation were used as the baseline for comparison. All the results demonstrate the preservation and accurate prediction of flow details near the wall, with the pressure correlation coefficient on the wall achieving an impressive value of 0.9985. Moreover, the periodic behavior of flow fields can be faithfully predicted during long-term inference. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
