Recent advances in morphology control of platinum catalysts toward oxygen reduction reaction

Exploring advanced platinum (Pt)-based electrocatalysts is vital for the widespread implementation of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Morphology control represents an effective strategy to optimize the behavior of Pt catalysts. In this work, an attempt is made to comprehensively review the effect of morphology control on the catalytic behavior of catalysts in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). First, the fundamental physicochemical changes behind morphology control, including exposing more active sites, generating appropriate lattice strains, and forming different crystalline surfaces, are highlighted. Then, recently developed strategies for tuning the morphologies of electrocatalysts, including core-shell structures, hollow structures, nanocages, nanowires, and nanosheets, are comprehensively summarized. Finally, an outlook on the future development of morphology control of Pt catalysts is presented, including rational design strategies, advanced in situ characterization techniques, novel artificial intelligence, and mechanical learning. This work is intended to provide valuable insights into designing the morphology and technological innovation of efficient redox electrocatalysts in fuel cells.

In-situ integration of multiple materials with well-defined interfaces as heterostructures is of great interest due to their unique properties and potential for new device *** of its polymorphism and diverse bonding geometries,borophene is a promising candidate for two-dimensional heterostructures,but suitable synthesis conditions have limited its potential *** this end,we demonstrate the vertical borophene and graphene heterostructures which form by epitaxial growth of borophene onto multilayer graphene on Cu substrates via chemical vapor deposition,where hydrogen and NaBH_(4) are respectively used as the carrier gas and the boron *** lattice structure of the as-synthesized borophene well coincides with the predictedα′-boron *** borophene-based photodetector shows an excellent broadband photoresponse from the ultraviolet(255 nm)to the infrared(940 nm)wavelengths,with enhanced responsivity compared to pristine borophene or graphene *** work informs emerging efforts to integrate borophene into nanoelectronic applications for both fundamental investigations and technological applications.

Brachiation is a common way for primates to move between treetops. This movement has the characteristics of adapting to complex, discontinuous environment and low energy consumption. However, traditional control methods are often difficult to complete such tasks where the support is point-contact and discrete. Reinforcement learning (RL) gives a solution to such tasks due to its strong ability to adapt to complex environments. Therefore, in this paper, we design a four-link underactuated robot model with a pair of suspended hooks and propose a deep reinforcement learning-based control method to realize its brachiation between bars. The policy for outputting control signals is trained using the proximal policy optimization (PPO) algorithm because of its strong performance and ability to handle continuous action spaces. A reward function considering energy consumption and the challenges posed by the introduction of hooks is designed to obtain an energy-optimized control policy. Through simulation, a comparison is drawn against the author's previously proposed method of generating energy-optimal offline trajectories and tracking by model predictive control (MPC), thereby substantiating the superiority of the proposed method outlined in this paper. © 2023 IEEE.

Release characteristics of arsenic from sediments and its source or sink competition with phosphorus:A case of a great lake with grass-algae alternation

The arsenic(As)release from sediments in great lakes is affected by various *** this study,the characteristics of As release fromsediments was investigated,and the As sources and sinks with the strengths in sediments from different areas(grass-type,algae-type,and grass-algae alternation areas)in great shallow lakes(Taihu Lake,China)were analyzed,and the influence of P competition in the process of As release was also *** results showed that changing trend of the values of equilibrium As concentration in sediments were consistent with the regional changes(0 to 28.12μg/L),and the sediments from algaetype areas had the higher *** sediments from western lake and northwest lake bay were a strong As and a weak P source,and the north lake bay had the opposite trend of these two *** P source competition with As from the sediments occurred in algae-type *** grass-type areas had strong As and P retention capacities,indicating a sink role of sediment with high As and P sorption *** degree of As and P saturation had similar trend in sediments,and the grass-type areas had the higher values,18.3%-21.4%and 15.31%-20.34%,*** analysis results showed that most of As release contribution was from the bottom(30-50 cm)sediments,and the surface(0-10 cm)sediments from algae-type areas contributed more to the overlying water than other region.

An intelligent bridge multi-dimension deflection IoT monitoring system based on laser datum and imaging

Aiming at the all-weather automatic monitoring of bridge structure health monitoring, an embedded bridge multi-dimensional(horizontal and vertical) deflection monitoring system based on dual laser references is proposed. The controller turns on the laser reference transmitter through instructions to emit the laser reference. The intelligent target system located in the middle of the span will calculate the multi-dimensional deflection and deformation information of the bridge structure according to the laser spot projected on the diffuse optical target, and pass this information through the wireless network communication unit transmits to the cloud platform to realize real-time monitoring of the bridge structure status and other parameters. Through the laboratory platform, it is found that the measurement error of this method is less than 300 μm, and the data update rate is less than 66 ms, which meets the requirements of bridge structural health monitoring. This method solves the problem of low efficiency of artificial bridge deflection monitoring, realizes all-weather online real-time monitoring of bridge deflection detection, and ensures the accuracy and efficiency of the measurement system. Applying this monitoring technology not only significantly improves the efficiency and accuracy of bridge structural health monitoring but also plays a crucial role in ensuring safe bridge operations,extending the service life of bridges, and reducing maintenance costs.

Characterizing molecular fingerprint of dissolved organic matter shaped by natural and anthropogenic factors in a large macrophytic shallow lake wetland

Dissolved organic matter(DOM)participates in and affects many biological processes in aquatic ecosystems,altering nutrient cycling,bioavailability and toxicity of *** water contains thousands of DOM molecules,which largely originate from natural sources and are greatly influenced by external inputs through anthropogenic *** elucidate the shaping mechanism of the DOM composition under complex habitat conditions and anthropogenic disturbances,the characteristic molecular fingerprint of DOM was determined based on chemodiversity information obtained via ultrahigh-resolution mass spectrometry for the Baiyangdian wetland(a typical large macrophytic shallow lake in North China).In the Baiyangdian wetland,the DOM composition exhibited high complexity and spatial heterogeneity,and more recalcitrant DOM molecules were identified in summer than in *** multiple natural factors(nutrient concentration,depth of water and quality of submerged macrophytes)and anthropogenic factors(different land uses and discharge of pollutants)were associated with the relative abundance of various DOM molecules,only the influences from the anthropogenic factors were statistically *** alpha diversity index of DOM could reflect variations in both the natural factors(total dissolved phosphorus)and the anthropogenic factors(discharge of nitrogen and phosphorus).Furthermore,the DOM composition in each group were clustered according to the ecological functions(natural reserves,tourism,breeding,and domestic supply functions),and exhibited molecular fingerprint *** study provides an effective approach to characterize the molecular fingerprint features of DOM and critical information to better understand the shaping mechanism of the DOM composition under complex habitat conditions and anthropogenic disturbances.
