Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) is a typical perfluorinated compound, and the presence of sulfonic groups makes it more difficult to decompose compared with other perfluorinated compounds. In this study, ultraviolet photolysis of iodide (UV/KI) was conducted to generate hydrated electrons for the decomposition of PFOS, the key factors affecting the decomposition efficiency were investigated and the possible decomposition pathways were speculated. The results implied that the UV/KI system can effectively promote the decomposition and defluorination of PFOS. When PFOS concentration was 0.03 mmol L-1 and KI was 0.3 mmol L-1, the decomposition and defluorination efficiency of PFOS at pH 10 reached 99.5% and 94.8% after 12 hours of reaction, respectively. With the increase of KI concentration from 0.1 to 0.5 mmol L-1, the decomposition and defluorination efficiency of PFOS increased, but further increase of KI will lead to the decrease of the decomposition performance. Weak and strong alkaline conditions were more favorable for PFOS decomposition in comparison to acid conditions. Compared with UV/Sulfite system, our system can be conducted under lower concentration of eaq- source chemicals and wider range of pH. Kinetic analysis implied that the decomposition of PFOS followed the pseudo first-order model with a reaction rate constant of 1.004 h-1, which was higher than those for most decomposition processes for PFOS. Intermediate products analysis and mass balance indicated there were three decomposition pathways of PFOS, namely, sulfonic group removal, H/F exchange and C-C bond dissociation. © 2022, The Authors. Change detection (CD) is an important preprocessing process in visual perception. Due to the difficulties of collection and labeling images in water scnens, the design and validation of the change detection algorithm is more difficult than expected. In this paper, we present a novel visual perception framework based on parallel vision for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The visual perception framework consists of artificial scenes, computational experiments and parallel execution. In artificial scenes, we construct a water scene and automatically generated pixel-level image annotation. Next, computational experiments are carried out on different domain dataset. The experiment results show that: 1) mixed images effectively improve the performance of change detection model;2) domain shift problems still greatly affect the algorithm performance. © 2021 IEEE

Analyzing the landing dynamics response is essential for enhancing the success rate of surface explorations on Mars, the moon, or asteroids. This paper develops a comprehensive dynamics model for a space lander equipped with four sets of buffer legs, each consisting of a primary strut, two secondary struts, and a footpad, during its soft landing process. The degrees of freedom of the main body and the footpads are defined as generalized coordinates to describe the motion of the space lander. The compression force of the buffer struts is obtained by interpolating real experimental data, and the contact force between the footpad and the ground is calculated using Archimedes law for granular media. Then, the dynamical model for the lander in terms of minimal degrees of freedom can be constructed by applying the Lagrange equations of the second kind. The proposed dynamics model is validated by the experiments of a single-legged lander vertical touchdown and a four-legged lander free touchdown. Moreover, histories of buffer force, acceleration of the main body, and other key physical quantities are computed to investigate the landing process. This highly efficient and accurate dynamics model provides a method to perform extensive simulations to design and optimize a soft landing process. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In order to repair the lost data in distributed wind power system, this paper puts forward a wind speed data repairing model based on a new bidirectional prediction method. This model consists of two one-way prediction models. In each prediction model, the original wind speed data are decomposed into several intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) and a residue signal by ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) method. Then the Savitzky-Golay (SG) filter is used to reduce noise for high-frequency IMFs. Next the long short-term memory (LSTM) model and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model are combined to predict low-frequency IMFs and the noise reduction results respectively. At the end, all those forecast results are added and form a one-way result. By weighted average of two one -way results, the repairing result is calculated. The experimental results from multiple prediction cases show that this method can get more accurate results. © 2021 IEEE.

Exploring Token-Level Augmentation in Vision Transformer for Semi-Supervised Semantic Segmentation

Semi-supervised semantic segmentation has witnessed remarkable advancements in recent years. However, existing algorithms are based on convolutional neural networks and directly applying them to Vision Transformers poses certain limitations due to conceptual disparities. To this end, we propose TokenMix, a data augmentation technique specifically designed for semi-supervised semantic segmentation with Vision Transformers. TokenMix aligns well with the global attention mechanism by mixing images at the token level, enhancing learning capability for contextual information among image patches. We further incorporate image augmentation and feature augmentation to promote the diversity of augmentation. Moreover, to enhance consistency regularization, we propose a dual-branch framework where each branch applies image and feature augmentation to the input image. We conduct extensive experiments across multiple benchmark datasets, including Pascal VOC 2012, Cityscapes, and COCO. Results suggest that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms with notably observed accuracy improvement, especially under limited fine annotations. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. This paper investigates the boundedness of the Disturbance Observer (DO) for linear discrete-time systems. In contrast to previous studies that focus on analyzing and/or designing observer gains, our analysis and synthesis approach is based on a set-membership viewpoint. From this viewpoint, a necessary and sufficient existence condition of bounded DOs is first established, which can be easily verified. Furthermore, a set-membership filter-based DO is developed, and its completeness is proved;thus, our proposed DO is bounded if and only if bounded DOs exist. We also prove that the proposed DO has the capability to achieve the worst-case optimality, which can provide a benchmark for the design of DOs. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to corroborate the effectiveness of the theoretical results. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The blast furnace (BF) is the main equipment in ironmaking industry in China. For the BF, the production and the smooth operation largely depend on a reasonable burden structure. In the burden structure modelling, the burden descent is the weak link due to the black-box nature of the burden descending process. The viscous flow model (VFM) is a widely used burden descent model with relatively high accuracy. However, when adopted to determine the burden structure, the VFM can only perform under a constant charging matrix. In this work, we incorporate the VFM into the burden structure model which is capable of utilizing varying charging matrixes. First, to incorporate the VFM, a new layout of the burden structure model is designed. Then, to address the multiple burden descents problem caused by the VFM, a new strategy implementing the VFM is proposed. With this strategy, the multiple burden descents are compact into one solution process, and the model efficiency is thereby increased. Finally, the case study on the performance of the proposed burden structure model is carried out. Results show that the proposed model is able to capture the layer details in the burden. Results also show that, unlike the VFM alone, this VFM-based model is able to utilize varying charging matrix and depict structure of each individual layer.

GotFlow3D: Recurrent Graph Optimal Transport for Learning 3D Flow Motion in Particle Tracking

Flow visualization technologies such as particle tracking velocimetry (PTV) are broadly used in understanding the all-pervasiveness three-dimensional (3D) turbulent flow from nature and industrial processes. Despite the advances in 3D acquisition techniques, the developed motion estimation algorithms in particle tracking remain great challenges of large particle displacements, dense particle distributions and high computational cost. By introducing a novel deep neural network based on recurrent Graph Optimal Transport, called GotFlow3D, we present an end-to-end solution to learn the 3D fluid flow motion from double-frame particle sets. The proposed network constructs two graphs in the geometric and feature space and further enriches the original particle representations with the fused intrinsic and extrinsic features learnt from a graph neural network. The extracted deep features are subsequently utilized to make optimal transport plans indicating the correspondences of particle pairs, which are then iteratively and adaptively retrieved to guide the recurrent flow learning. Experimental evaluations, including assessments on numerical experiments and validations on real-world experiments, demonstrate that the proposed GotFlow3D achieves state-of-the-art performance against both recently-developed scene flow learners and particle tracking algorithms, with impressive accuracy, robustness and generalization ability, which can provide deeper insight into the complex dynamics of broad physical and biological systems. © 2022, CC BY.

With the application of damping controllers developed using remote feedback signals provided by phasor measurement unit (PMU) and wida-area measurement system (WAMS), the wind power generation system (WPGS) can damp the inter-area oscillations of power system. Nevertheless, the damping control system of WPGS may suffer from malicious cyber attacks, which will deteriorate the performance of WPGS and even destabilize the power system operation. This paper considers the various types of cyber attacks, including false data injection attack (FDIA), time-delay attack (TDA), denial of service (DoS) attack, coordinated cyber-physical attack (CCPA), and analyzes the effects of these cyber attacks on WPGS in damping inter-area oscillations of power system. Simulation studies are carried out on a two-area four-machine power system integrated with WPGS to investigate the cyber security of WPGS. © 2021 IEEE
