A novel strategy of lithium recycling from spent lithium-ion batteries using imidazolium ionic liquid

In light of the increasing demand for environmental protection and energy conservation,the recovery of highly valuable metals,such as Li,Co,and Ni,from spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)has attracted widespread *** conventional recycling strategies,however,suffer from a lack of lithium recycling,although they display high efficiency in the recovery of Co and *** this work,we report an efficient extraction process of lithium from the spent LIBs by using a functional imidazolium ionic *** extraction efficiency can be reached to 92.5%after a three-stage extraction,while the extraction efficiency of Ni-Co-Mn is less than 4.0%.The new process shows a high selectivity of lithium *** spectroscopy and ultraviolet are utilized to characterize the variations in the functional groups during extraction to reveal that the possible extraction mechanism is cation *** results of this work provide an effective and sustainable strategy of lithium recycling from spent LIBs.

The sustainable synthesis of dimethyl maleate via diesterification through the utilization of ionic liquid(IL)is of great ***,the relationship between the ILs nature and the reactivity of diesterification is still ***,a series of ILs with different structures were selected for the comprehensive investigation of *** acidity(H_(0))and Kamlet-Taft solvent parameters(hydrogen bond donor ability(α),hydrogen bond acceptor ability(β),and polarizability(π^(*)))of ILs were measured by UV–Visible spectroscopy,and the effects of them on the diesterification of maleic anhydride were also studied in *** results indicated that not only H0of the IL-based catalysis system,but also itsα,β,andπ^(*)influenced the reaction activity of ***,a quantifiable correlation was fitted between the natural logarithm of the rate constant and multiple parameters of ILs,indicating that the diesterification rate had a positive correlation with the H0,α,andπ^(*),and inverse correlation with theβof the IL.A plausible synergetic reaction mechanism for the excellent performance of[(HSO_(3))PMim][HSO_(4)]has been ***,this work thoroughly explored the relationship between the nature of ILs on diesterification in-depth,which will reveal the nature of diesterification in detail.

Nowadays, it is necessary to explore efficient antibacterial materials to complement or substitute the conventional antibiotic, to cope with the ever-growing bacterial contamination. Here, a series of Cu-doped ZIF-8 materials are prepared and adopted for disinfection against typical bacteria E. coli and S. aureus in dark. The results show that 5-7 log efficiency can be achieved at a dosage of 15-30 mg mL-1 of 1.35 atomic % Cu doped ZIF-8, and this concentration is also safe as verified by cytotoxicity test. Mechanism investigation shows that Cu(II) is reduced to Cu(I), which would contribute to the effective electron transfer for the reactive oxygen species generation. And these reactive oxygen species would cause oxidative stress and membrane damage on bacteria cells. All these results show the promise of Cu-doped ZIF-8 in the antibacterial applications especially in the environments without any energy input. © 2024 18th Conference of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate, INDOOR AIR 2024 - Conference Program and Proceedings. A series of ZnO/SiO_(2) adsorbents were prepared by a sol-gel method using tetraethyl orthosilicate,ethylene glycol(EG)and nitrates as *** effect of gel drying temperature on the structure and desulfurization performance of the adsorbents were investigated in *** is found that the low drying temperature led to a weak interaction among EG,Si AOH/H_(2)O and the nitrates in the gel system,which caused the oxidation of EG by NO3-and formed zinc glyoxylate complex during the gel calcination process,whereas this oxidation process also occurred at a high drying temperature during the gel drying *** formed zinc glyoxylate complex promoted the generation of monodentate carbonate on the surface of Zn O,which resulted in the inferior desulfurization performance of adsorbents despite they have smaller Zn O *** gel dried at 120°C formed the hydrogen bonds between EG and Si AOH/H_(2)O and a strong interaction between zinc oxo-clusters and NO3-was also found in the gel system,which avoided the oxidation of EG by NO3-during the preparation process and the Zn O nanoparticles with sizes of 6 nm were formed by a combustion *** adsorbent affords a highest sulfur capacity of 104.9 mg·g^(-1) in this *** addition,the gel drying temperature has a significant influence on the textural properties of the adsorbents except their surface area.

Single-Electrode Electrostatic Repulsion Phenomenon for Remote Actuation and Manipulation

One of the fundamental principles of electrostatics is that an uncharged object will be attracted to a charged object through electrostatic induction as the two approaches one *** refer to the charged object as a single electrode and examine the scenario where a positive voltage is *** of electrostatic induction phenomenon,single-electrode electrostatics only generates electrostatic attraction ***,we discover that single-electrode electrostatics can generate electrostatic repulsion forces and define this new phenomenon as single-electrode electrostatic repulsion *** investigate the fundamental electrostatic phenomena,giving a curve of electrostatic force versus voltage and then defining 3 *** actuation and manipulation are essential technologies that are of enormous concern,with tweezers playing an important *** tweezers designed on the basis of external fields of optics,acoustics,and magnetism can be used for remote actuation and manipulation,but some inherent drawbacks still *** would benefit greatly from our discovery in *** the basis of this discovery,we propose the concept of electrostatic tweezers,which can achieve noncontact and remote actuation and *** characterizations and successful applications in metamaterials,robots,and manipulating objects demonstrated that electrostatic tweezers can produce large deformation rates(>6,000%),fast actuation(>100 Hz),and remote manipulating distance(~15 cm)and have the advantages of simple device structure,easy control,lightweight,no dielectric breakdown,and low *** work may deepen people's understanding of single-electrode electrostatics and opens new opportunities for remote actuation and manipulation.

Molecular level understanding of CO_(2) capture in ionic liquid/polyimide composite membrane

Ionic liquid(IL)/polyimide(PI)composite membranes demonstrate promise for use in CO_(2)separation ***,few studies have focused on the microscopic mechanism of CO_(2)in these composite systems,which is important information for designing new *** this work,a series of systems of CO_(2)in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide composited with 4,4-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride(6FDA)-based PI,6FDA-2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4-phenylene-diamine,at different IL concentrations were investigated by all-atom molecular dynamics *** formation of IL regions in PI was found,and the IL regions gradually became continuous channels with increasing IL *** analysis of the radial distribution functions and hydrogen bond numbers demonstrated that PI had a stronger interaction with cations than ***,the hydrogen bonds among PI chains were destroyed by the addition of IL,which was favorable for transporting CO_(2).Furthermore,the self-diffusion coefficient and free energy barrier suggested that the diffusion coefficient of CO_(2)decreased with increasing IL concentrations up to 35 wt-%due to the decrease of the fractional free volume of the composite ***,the CO_(2)selfdiffusion coefficients increased when the IL contents were higher than 35 wt-%,which was attributed to the formation of continuous IL domain that benefitted the transportation of CO_(2).
