Silicon carbide (SiC) metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) have found wide applications because of their superior electrical and thermal properties. However, bias temperature instability (BTI) hindered their development. In this paper, the effect of short-circuit (SC) events on BTI of SiC MOSFETs is investigated. It is found that both positive and negative BTI (PBTI and NBTI) will recover when the device is subjected to SC stress, regardless of whether it is planer or trench gate, and that the higher SC energy, the greater BTI recovery. Excessive SC energy may excite new defects and aggravate the threshold voltage drift. These results provide new ideas for suppressing BTI of SiC MOSFETs in practical application. © 2023 IEEE.

The under voltage is an essential issue for the distribution network, which troubles millions of users. Compared to the traditional load tap changer counterpart, to pursue flexible and deep voltage-dip compensation, the AC-AC boost converter with advanced modulation and control schemes is proposed in this paper. To avoid the short-circuit risk during commutation and dead-time sectors, the improved modulation strategy is proposed to ensure the bi-directional free-wheeling paths. Concerning the forward, reverse, commutation, and dead-time modes of the converter, the operation principles and current routines of the converter are comprehensively revealed. Besides, the output voltage feedback loop is comparatively studied to eliminate the circulating current and ensure the safe commutation. Meanwhile, considering the voltage distortion effect, the blind time of the commutation is also carefully designed. Finally, the 500 W AC-AC boost converter prototype is fabricated and tested. The experiments in steady-state and dynamics examine the validation of the proposed modulation and control. The findings prove the AC-AC boost converter is a preferred solution for the voltage-dip compensation of the distribution network in the future. © 2023 IEEE.

As the electric power industry has expanded, it has become more crucial than ever to transmit electricity safely. Because the transformer plays a vital role in the power system, and the quality of transformer oil is directly related to the life of the transformer. Therefore, it is essential to assess the condition of the insulating oil. In this paper, the relationship between the interfacial tension and the aging process of insulating oils is investigated based on in-situ Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (in-situ FT-IR) techniques. Three different types of insulating oil are researched and the correlation between the interfacial tension and the peak area ratio of each ageing peak is analysed. It is observed that the peak area ratio of the ageing peaks showed a significant correlation with the interfacial tension, which can be used as a foundation for assessing the ageing level of the insulating oils. © 2023 IEEE.

Solder layer failure is one of the main failure modes of SiC MOSFET devices within To packaging. In this paper, the solder layer failure simulation and influencing factor analysis of SiC MOSFET devices are carried out based on the multi-physical field finite element modeling method. Firstly, the SiC MOSFET device multi-physical field simulation model is established based on the packaging structure of To-247–3, and the Computed Tomography test obtains the hole distribution of the SiC MOSFET device solder layer. Secondly, The stress distribution of the solder layer during the aging process of SiC MOSFET devices is analyzed, and the failure mechanism of the solder layer of the SiC MOSFET device is studied. Finally, the effect of different solder layer hole sizes on device performance is simulated, and the impact of different ambient temperatures and current levels on the failure performance of the solder layer failure of the SiC MOSFET device is analyzed. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. In this paper, based on the finite element simulation, the short-circuit process of press-pack IGBT modules (PP-IGBT) with various optimized package structures are compared and analyzed, and the effect of package structure design on the short-circuit withstand capability (SCWC) is analyzed. First, several finite element (FE) models of PP-IGBT with existing typical optimized package structure, including silver sintered, liquid metal optimized and phase change materials optimized PP-IGBT are established. Next, the actual short-circuit process of PP-IGBT is obtained, and the short-circuit processes of PP-IGBT with various package structures are compared and analyzed based on the FE simulation results. Finally, the effect of package design, including the optimized location and the chip-attaching layer thickness on the SCWC are investigated. The simulation results show that the SCWC can be improved by about 5% by adding the chip-attaching layer on emitter side. © 2023 IEEE.

The inception process and stable development criterion of upward leader are the key to examine how well transmission lines protect against lightning. Based on the theory of leader discharge, this essay developed a simulation model of upward leader of transmission lines under negative lightning, and analyzed the upward leader development procedure under different circumstance. The findings indicate that there is a critical value of the space charge in the initial streamer region when a stable upward leader manifests around the conductor. The critical value is affected by the radius of the conductor, and is unrelated to the conductor height, operating voltage and lightning parameters. Thus, the critical space charge criterion of the initial streamer region for the stable inception of the upward leader in the transmission lines was proposed. The results derived using the criterion were in line with the observational findings of the ongoing artificial lightning test, proving the validity of the criterion. © 2023 IEEE.

Analyzing the impact of information attacks on the stability of islanded microgrids in distribution networks enables effective countermeasures, enhancing power supply reliability. Current approaches lack integration of information attacks with actual grid operation control and overlook the influence of Distributed Generation on system stability. Moreover, flexible and reliable measures to address islanding faults resulting from different information attacks are lacking. This study explores the Cyber-Physical systems of islanded microgrids, proposing their structure in islanded operation. It discusses the impact of different attack targets and types on loads and DG, constructing an attack model for FDIA. The study also examines the interrelations within the DG system under this attack model. Lastly, an innovative evaluation method for islanded system resilience to information attacks is presented. It judges the impact on Distributed Generation, load distribution, and circuit breaker status post-attack, quantifying the effects through DG, load, and circuit breaker matrices. If the impact remains below a set threshold, the attack's effects are deemed minor, obviating immediate island removal. This method enhances microgrid adaptability and recovery, offering new theoretical support and practical guidance for safe and stable microgrid operation. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. The "plug" type high-voltage conductor connection structures is extremely prone to parts loosening under frequent action, its connection reliability will be drastically reduced under continuous mechanical vibration, posing a great threat to the equipment safety. To study the overall vibration characteristics of the "plug-in" type conductor connection structures in gas insulated switchgear (GIS), this paper firstly proposed a finite element calculation procedure with "electromagnetic-mechanical" coupling by combining physical ontological relationship and elastic dynamics equations, and then established a finite element calculation model by taking 126 kV "plug-in" type disconnector chamber as the study object. Finally, the electromagnetic and vibration parameter amplitudes and their distribution characteristics of the "plug-in" type connecting structures were investigated and analyzed. Results show that the distribution of electromagnetic and vibration parameters is strongly correlated with the geometric structure, and the amplitude is the largest at the confluence of the internal conductor structure. The acceleration signal is more sensitive to the detection of vibration information compared with the displacement vibration signal. The distribution of the vibration amplitude is related to the size of the structural constraint stiffness and vibration attenuation characteristics. Hysteresis motors are widely used in gyroscopes due to their self-starting capability, high starting torque and simple geometry, and are key components to ensure the normal on-orbit operation of satellites or launch vehicles. The drift caused by the temperature change will have a great impact on the accuracy of the instrument, so it is necessary to study the global temperature rise of the hysteresis motor. Motor loss is the main heat source in motor operation, and improving its calculation accuracy is the premise to ensure the accuracy of global temperature rise. However, different from the traditional motor, the nonlinearity of the hysteresis material of the hysteresis motor and the complexity of the starting process make its analysis difficult. This paper firstly proposes a method to determine the working hysteresis loop through Preisach model. Based on this, the loss calculation model of the hysteresis motor is deduced and verified by simulation. Finally, the result of loss model is used as the heat source, and the global temperature rise characteristics of the motor are studied. The temperature distribution rules and design points of key structures are obtained, which has certain reference significance for the thermal design of hysteresis motors. © 2023, Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Due to the long-term work in the coastal port and exposure to the air, the shore power cable is often affected by environmental factors such as solar radiation and tide. These factors aggravate the aging speed of the shore power cable, resulting in its service life far less than that of the traditional cable. Therefore, the temperature field distribution of the shore power cable under the solar radiation is calculated by using the finite element method, and the solar radiation intensity is considered, the influence of the cable surface on the solar radiation absorption ratio on the cable core temperature is calculated. Then, the change of the cable core temperature with the immersion depth is calculated, and the influence of water flow velocity and seawater convection heat transfer coefficient on the cable core temperature is considered.
