To address the cost-effective voltage regulation in active distribution network (ADN), this paper proposes a multiagent deep reinforcement learning (MADRL) based photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage (BS) aggregators coordinated operation framework. The proposed framework treats PV and BS under each bus as an aggregator and enables model-free separated operation between multiple PV-BS aggregators and ADN by training the control agent of each PV-BS aggregator using MADRL. The coordinated operation only requires incomplete information from the internal information of each PV-BS aggregator and overall ADN information, thereby reducing communication overhead. A test system evaluates the performance of three model-free MADRL algorithms on the proposed PV-BS aggregators coordinated operation in ADN. It also validates the effectiveness of the MADRL for cost-effective voltage regulation in ADN with multiple PV-BS aggregators. © 2023 IEEE.

IGBT modules have been widely used in many fields such as renewable energy generation and rail transportation because of their excellent switching performance. However, the application reliability of IGBT modules is affected by many factors, among which humidity is one of the most serious factors threatening the health of IGBT modules. In high humidity applications, moisture tends to penetrate inside the module, which lead to corrosion and degradation of the module. In this paper, finite element simulation reveals that the bonding line and the solder layer are the weak points of the IGBT module packaging corrosion in high humidity application environment, which provide guidance for improving IGBT module packaging and designing reliability enhancement scheme. © 2023 IEEE.

In situ quantification of NO synthesis in a warm air glow discharge by WMS-based Mid-IR QCL absorption spectroscopy

Nitric oxide(NO)is one of the most crucial products in the plasma-based nitrogen fixation *** this work,in situ measurements were performed for quantifying the NO synthesis spatially in a warm air glow discharge,through the method of Mid-infrared quantum cascade laser absorption spectroscopy(QCL-AS).Two ro-vibrational transitions at 1900.076 cm^(-1) and 1900.517 cm^(-1) of the ground-state NO(X)were probed sensitively by the help of the wavelength modulation spectroscopy(WMS)approach to increase the signal/noise(S/N)*** results show a decline trend of NO synthesis rate along the discharge channel from the cathode to the ***,from the point of energy efficiency,the cathode region is of significantly low energy efficiency of NO *** disproportionality was found for the high energy consumption but low NO production in the region of cathode area,compared to that in the positive column *** analysis demonstrates the high energy cost of NO production in the cathode region,is ascribed to the extremely high reduced electric field E/N therein not selectively preferable for the processes of vibrational excitation or dissociation of N_(2) and O_(2) *** drags down the overall energy efficiency of NO synthesis by this typical warm air glow discharge,particularly for the ones with short electrode *** of further improving the energy cost of NO synthesis by variations of the discharge operation conditions,such as discharge current or airflow rate,imply other effective manners able to tune the energy delivery selectively to the NO formation process,are sorely needed.

Mechanical defects,in gas-insulated switchgear(GIS)equipment,have weak response characteristics,leading to significant difficulties in the classification of ***,this paper proposes a novel mechanical defect feature extraction and classification method that combines independent intrinsic mode function(IIMF)analysis and an improved multikernel mapping fast multi-classification relevance vector machine(MKF-mRVM).Enlightened by the differences in the GIS operating vibration mode,the IIMF series were first obtained based on regenerated phase-shifted sinusoid-assisted empirical mode decomposition(RPSEMD)and modal *** singular value decomposition and time-frequency conversions were performed to construct combined feature ***,multikernel mapping and domain sampling were introduced to improve the calculation speed and recognition accuracy of the mRVM,which was more suitable for on-line *** show that the proposed RPSEMD-MKF-mRVM model achieves a faster training speed(14.23 s)and higher accuracy(98.21%)than other algorithms,and it can adapt to variable loads.

A Two-stage Stochastic Mixed-integer Programming Model for Resilience Enhancement of Active distribution Networks

Most existing distribution networks are difficult to withstand the impact of meteorological disasters. With the development of active distribution networks(ADNs), more and more upgrading and updating resources are applied to enhance the resilience of ADNs. A two-stage stochastic mixed-integer programming(SMIP) model is proposed in this paper to minimize the upgrading and operation cost of ADNs by considering random scenarios referring to different operation scenarios of ADNs caused by disastrous weather events. In the first stage, the planning decision is formulated according to the measures of hardening existing distribution lines, upgrading automatic switches, and deploying energy storage resources. The second stage is to evaluate the operation cost of ADNs by considering the cost of load shedding due to disastrous weather and optimal deployment of energy storage systems(ESSs) under normal weather condition. A novel modeling method is proposed to address the uncertainty of the operation state of distribution lines according to the canonical representation of logical constraints. The progressive hedging algorithm(PHA) is adopted to solve the SMIP model. The IEEE 33-node test system is employed to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that the proposed model can enhance the resilience of the ADN while ensuring economy.

Evaluation of lightning-induced overvoltage on a 10 kV distribution line based on electromagnetic return-stroke model using finite-difference time-domain

Accurate simulation of lightning-induced overvoltage for overhead distribution lines is helpful to prevent lightning trip *** electromagnetic return-stroke model was used to represent lightning and then a 3D finite-difference time-domain(FDTD)method was adopted to simulate the lightning-induced overvoltage on a distribution line without a field-line coupling *** lightning-induced overvoltage behave for different ground conductivity and varying distance between the distribution line and the lightning channel was *** results showed that the overvoltage waveforms at the centre point of the line corresponding to lightning strikes on the lossy ground and an ideal ground(σ=∞)were similar;however,the peak amplitudes of the waveform were affected by soil conductivity at a close *** relationship between magnitude of the overvoltage and distance can be described by a second-order exponential decay ***,the overvoltage calculated using the proposed model was compared with those obtained based on Agrawal's model and measurements made using the newly developed intelligent insulator on *** these comparisons,it could be concluded that the FDTD method with the electromagnetic return-stroke model produces reasonably accurate results of the attenuated oscillation waveform,which can better reproduce the overvoltage on operational distribution lines.

The rapid development of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) transmission technology brings new challenges to insulation materials. Oil-paper insulation needs to be strengthened to prevent possible breakdown failure. In this paper, the PTFE functional film was fabricated by magnetron sputtering on the insulation pressboard surface to suppress partial discharge. The partial discharge test was conducted to compare the withstanding ability of the modified pressboard and the untreated pressboard. The results showed that partial discharge inception voltage increased by 18% for the modified pressboard. Phase-resolved partial discharge results also showed a great enhancement in partial discharge withstanding the ability of the PTFE function layer on the pressboard. The molecular simulation was conducted to give a possible explanation for the improvement. Higher bond levels and a large band gap of PTFE played a vital role. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Pulse discharge in water can trigger powerful shock waves, which have been widely used in fields such as electro-hydraulic forming, rock fragmentation, and oil and gas production. The pulsation during discharge has a direct effect on the intensity of shock waves. Therefore, the study of pulsation characteristics is of great practical significance. At present, the analysis of pulsation characteristics is mainly focused on conditions of short pulse. However, due to the difference in time scale, these studies are limited to a single early arc or late bubble, while the development of arc and bubble under long pulse presents a strong coupling, and the underlying mechanism is still unclear. © 2024 IEEE.

Composite coatings or films with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)are typically utilized to offer superhydrophobic ***,the superhydrophobic surfaces usually have limited durability and require complicated fabrication ***,we report the successful integration of PTFE with ZnO ceramics to achieve superhydrophobicity via a one-step sintering method,cold sintering process(CSP),at 300℃.(1–x)ZnO–x PTFE ceramic composites with x ranging from 0 to 70 vol%are densified with relative density of over 97%.Micro/nano-scale PTFE polymer is dispersed among ZnO grains forming polymer grain boundary phases,which modulate surface morphology and surface energy of the ZnO–PTFE ceramic *** the 60 vol%ZnO–40 vol%PTFE ceramic composite,superhydrophobic properties are optimized with static water contact angles(WCAs)and sliding angles(SAs)of 162°and 7°,*** abrading into various thicknesses(2.52,2.26,and 1.99 mm)and contaminating with graphite powders on the surface,WCA and SA are still maintained with a high level of 157°–160°and 7°–9.3°,*** work indicates that CSP provides a promising pathway to integrate polymers with ceramics to realize stable superhydrophobicity.
