A new certificate-based aggregate signature scheme for wireless sensor networks

data transmission is one of the important basic technologies in wireless sensor networks (WSN). Due to the limited energy, storage capacity, computing power and communication ability of sensor nodes, the efficiency of data transmission is greatly limited. Certificate-based aggregate signature scheme provides an efficient way to combine numerous signatures into one short signature. In this paper, we propose a certificate-based aggregate signature scheme in WSN. In the random oracle model and under the computational Diffie-Hellman (CDH) Problem and bilinear Diffie-Hellman (BDH), we demonstrate that our scheme is provably secure against forgery attack. The performance analysis demonstrates that our scheme provides an efficient way for data transmission and is suitable in WSN. © 2018, Ubiquitous International. All rights reserved.

OBJECTIVE:To assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of medical stakeholders regarding the use of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) tools. METHODS:A cross-sectional survey was conducted among stakeholders in medicine. Participants included researchers, clinicians, and medical journal editors with varying degrees of familiarity with GAI tools. The survey questionnaire comprised 40 questions covering four main dimensions: basic information, knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to GAI tools. Descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation, and multivariable regression were used to analyze the data. RESULTS:The overall awareness rate of GAI tools was 93.3%. Participants demonstrated moderate knowledge (mean score 17.71 ± 5.56), positive attitudes (mean score 73.32 ± 15.83), and reasonable practices (mean score 40.70 ± 12.86). Factors influencing knowledge included education level, geographic region, and attitudes (p < 0.05). Attitudes were influenced by work experience and knowledge (p < 0.05), while practices were driven by both knowledge and attitudes (p < 0.001). Participants from outside China scored higher in all dimensions compared to those from China (p < 0.001). Additionally, 74.0% of participants emphasized the importance of reporting GAI usage in research, and 73.9% advocated for naming the specific tool used. CONCLUSION:The findings highlight a growing awareness and generally positive attitude toward GAI tools among medical stakeholders, alongside the recognition of their ethical implications and the necessity for standardized reporting practices. Targeted training and the development of clear reporting guidelines are recommended to enhance the effective use of GAI tools in medical research and practice.

WISERNet: Wider Separate-then-reunion Network for Steganalysis of Color Images

Until recently, deep steganalyzers in spatial domain have been all designed for gray-scale images. In this paper, we propose WISERNet (the wider separate-then-reunion network) for steganalysis of color images. We provide theoretical rationale to claim that the summation in normal convolution is one sort of "linear collusion attack" which reserves strong correlated patterns while impairs uncorrelated noises. Therefore in the bottom convolutional layer which aims at suppressing correlated image contents, we adopt separate channel-wise convolution without summation instead. Conversely, in the upper convolutional layers we believe that the summation in normal convolution is beneficial. Therefore we adopt united normal convolution in those layers and make them remarkably wider to reinforce the effect of "linear collusion attack". As a result, our proposed wide-and-shallow, separate-then-reunion network structure is specifically suitable for color image steganalysis. We have conducted extensive experiments on color image datasets generated from BOSSBase raw images and another large-scale dataset which contains 100,000 raw images, with di_erent demosaicking algorithms and downsampling algorithms. The experimental results show that our proposed network outperforms other state-of-the-art color image steganalytic models either hand-crafted or learned using deep networks in the literature by a clear margin. Specifically, it is noted that the detection performance gain is achieved with less than half the complexity compared to the most advanced deeplearning steganalyzer as far as we know, which is scarce in the literature. Prior to the deep learning era, shape was commonly used to describe the objects. Nowadays, state-of-the-art (SOTA) algorithms in medical imaging are predominantly diverging from computer vision, where voxel grids, meshes, point clouds, and implicit surface models are used. This is seen from numerous shape-related publications in premier vision conferences as well as the growing popularity of ShapeNet (about 51,300 models) and Princeton ModelNet (127,915 models). For the medical domain, we present a large collection of anatomical shapes (e.g., bones, organs, vessels) and 3D models of surgical instrument, called MedShapeNet, created to facilitate the translation of data-driven vision algorithms to medical applications and to adapt SOTA vision algorithms to medical problems. As a unique feature, we directly model the majority of shapes on the imaging data of real patients. As of today, MedShapeNet includes 23 datasets with more than 100,000 shapes that are paired with annotations (ground truth). Our data is freely accessible via a web interface and a Python application programming interface (API) and can be used for discriminative, reconstructive, and variational benchmarks as well as various applications in virtual, augmented, or mixed reality, and 3D printing. Exemplary, we present use cases in the fields of classification of brain tumors, skull reconstructions, multi-class anatomy completion, education, and 3D printing. Synergistic interactions promote behavior spreading and alter phase transitions on multiplex networks

Synergistic interactions are ubiquitous in the real world. Recent studies have revealed that, for a single-layer network, synergy can enhance spreading and even induce an explosive contagion. There is at the present a growing interest in behavior spreading dynamics on multiplex networks. What is the role of synergistic interactions in behavior spreading in such networked systems? To address this question, we articulate a synergistic behavior spreading model on a double layer network, where the key manifestation of the synergistic interactions is that the adoption of one behavior by a node in one layer enhances its probability of adopting the behavior in the other layer. A general result is that synergistic interactions can greatly enhance the spreading of the behaviors in both layers. A remarkable phenomenon is that the interactions can alter the nature of the phase transition associated with behavior adoption or spreading dynamics. In particular, depending on the transmission rate of one behavior in a network layer, synergistic interactions can lead to a discontinuous (first-order) or a continuous (second-order) transition in the adoption scope of the other behavior with respect to its transmission rate. A surprising two-stage spreading process can arise: due to synergy, nodes having adopted one behavior in one layer adopt the other behavior in the other layer and then prompt the remaining nodes in this layer to quickly adopt the behavior. Analytically, we develop an edge-based compartmental theory and perform a bifurcation analysis to fully understand, in the weak synergistic interaction regime where the dynamical correlation between the network layers is negligible, the role of the interactions in promoting the social behavioral spreading dynamics in the whole system.

Although the canonical correlation analysis (CCA) algorithm has been applied successfully to SSVEP detection, artifacts and unrelated brain activities may influence the performance of the steady state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) based brain-computer interfaces (BCI) system. Extracting the characteristic frequency sub-bands is an effective method to enhance the signal-to-noise-ratio of SSVEP signals. The sinusoid-assisted MEMD (SA-MEMD) algorithm is a powerful method for spectral decomposition. In this study, we propose an SA-MEMD based CCA method for SSVEP detection. The results suggest that the SA-MEMD based CCA algorithm is a useful method in the detection of typical SSVEP signals. The classification accuracy achieved 88.3% in a 4 s time window and there was a 2.8% improvement compared with the standard CCA algorithm.

Concept-cognitive learning (CCL) is a hot topic in recent years, and it has attracted much attention from the communities of formal concept analysis, granular computing and cognitive computing. However, the relationship among cognitive computing (CC), concept-cognitive computing (CCC), CCL and concept-cognitive learning model (CCLM) is not clearly described. To this end, we first explain the relationship of CC, CCC, CCL and CCLM. Then, we propose a generalized concept-cognitive learning (GCCL) from the point of view of machine learning. In this paper, we consider the problem of vehicular positioning enhancement with emerging connected vehicles (CV) technologies. In order to actually describe the scenario, the Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) filter is used for depicting varies of observation models. A CV-enhanced IMM filtering approach is proposed to locate a vehicle by data fusion from both coarse GPS data and the Doppler frequency shifts (DFS) measured from dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) radio signals. Simulation results state the effectiveness of the proposed approach called CV-IMM-EKF. © 2018, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) has emerged as an increasingly dominant technology for future connected vehicle and vehicular networks, where the focus of the development of VANET lies in the standardization of message transmission and dissemination via multi-hop broadcasting. However, the current communication protocols concerning VANET face many challenges, including data flooding and collision, transmission delay and other problems. Most of the challenges are closely related to next-hop selection. Therefore, this paper proposes a new routing protocol named REliable and Fast Forwarding (REFF) to optimize the selection of nodes in VANET. In this protocol, node filtering and node evaluation are two main steps. Distance between previous node and candidate node, relative velocity between previous node and candidate nodes, included angle between direction of target node’s velocity and candidate node’s velocity and transmission power of candidate node are adopted as indexes to help select a specific node as the next hop using Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). By using this technique, the number of candidates as next-hop is largely reduced, avoiding the data flooding and resulting transmission relay. In addition, simulations based on experiments are done to verify the feasibility. The results show that message achieves a faster and more reliable transmission using REFF. © 2018, ICST Institute for computer sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
