Due to the complex environment and crowded traffic density, the real-time positioning of trains in high-speed railways is critical to the safety and efficiency of the whole system. Most existing studies in this field focuses on data fusion techniques with collected data from GPS, Balise, and track circuits, while these data from different sources are usually inaccurate and 'discrete'. In our study, we proposed a new approach that combines the multi-source data fusion with AI-based perception from in-cabin videos. Specifically, we developed an attention-based (Convolutional Neural Networks) CNN model. Our model has three modules: 1) CNN achieves visual perception recognition from line-side fixed objects (e.g., positioning poles of contact network);2) A fuzzy matching module corrects the perceptual data;and 3) an attention module integrates the perceptual data with positioning data from multi-source sensor. We collected the real-world data from EOAS system in Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway. We trained and test our deep learning model with several benchmarks, which verify the effectiveness of our approach regarding the positioning accuracy of high-speed trains. © 2024 Technical Committee on Control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Demand Response Management with Latency Difference in Distributed Wireless Network

The performance of smart grid under the demand response (DR) control depends on the behavior of its network, which involves differences for multi-category DRs. In this paper, a distributed wireless network (DWN) is proposed for the demand transmission under smart grid, where all DR projects are divided into the emergency DR and the general DR by the latency difference. In the proposed DWN, a pseudo-double-hop transmission architecture is designed to handle the emergency DR locally and general DRs centrally, respectively. Furthermore, an analysis framework based on communication and computing performance is used to certify the reliability and effectiveness of DWN. Based on the framework, the closed-form expressions are derived for the asymptotic outage and computing probability, the results of which are used to investigate the performance of emergency and general DRs. Numerical results validate the reliability and effectiveness of the proposed network and reveal the effect of various parameters on the performance of DR. Notably, the local solution can handle, in terms of the emergency DR, the emergency tasks in time, and the centralized processing solution can update and process the general DR.

The vector space decoupling mathematical transformation equation of five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor in synchronous transformation method is founded based on the extended Park transform. Under the premise that the direct axis current is equal to zero, the quadrature axis current is controlled to achieve the purpose of torque control. Aiming at the weak anti-interference ability and large overshoot of five-phase motor under the classical PI control, a new sliding mode velocity control method with improved exponential power approach rate is proposed. The simulation model is established. It can be seen from the simulation results, it overcomes the inherent defect of a single exponential approach law that causes high-frequency chattering. It has different fast approaching characteristics in different approaching stages, and can control the convergence rate better. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Effect of geometry simplification and boundary condition specification on flow field and aerodynamic noise in the train head and bogie region of high-speed trains

The purpose of this study is to determine a suitable modeling method to make computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation more efficient for aeroacoustics optimization of the bogie region of high-speed *** this end,four modeling methods are considered,which involve different geometry simplifications and boundary condition *** corresponding models are named the three-car marshalling model,computational domain shortening model,carbody shortening model,and sub-domain *** the detached eddy simulation(DES)model and Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings(FW-H)equation,the unsteady flow field and far-field noise of the four models are *** evaluate the effect of the different modeling methods,the time-averaged flow field,fluctuating flow field,and far-field noise results of the four models are compared and analyzed in detail with the results of the three-car marshalling model used as basis for *** results show that the flow field results of the bogie region predicted by the four models have relatively high ***,the usage of the non-time varying outlet boundary conditions in the computational domain shortening model and sub-domain model could affect the pressure fluctuation on the upstream carbody *** only the bogie region is used as the source surface,the differences between the far-field noise results of the three simplified models and the three-car marshalling model are all within 1 dB;when the train head is used as the source surface,the results of the carbody shortening model and the three-car marshalling model are more consistent.

Self‐regulating high‐temperature superconducting(HTS)flux pumps enable direct current injection into a closed‐loop superconducting coil without any electrical *** this work,the process of charging a coil by a self‐regulating HTS flux pump is examined in detail by numerical *** proposed model combines an H‐formulation finite element method(FEM)model with an electrical circuit,enabling a comprehensive evaluation of the overall performance of self‐regulating HTS flux pumps while accurately capturing local *** results indicate that the proposed model can capture all the critical features of a self‐regulating HTS flux pump,including superconducting properties and the impact of the secondary *** the numerical results are compared to the experimental data,the presented model is found to be acceptable both qualitatively and *** on this model,we have demonstrated how the addition of a milliohm range,normal‐conducting secondary resistance in series with the charging loop can improve the charging *** addition,its impact on the charging performance is revealed,including the maximum achievable current,charging speed,and the generated *** modeling approach employed in this study can be generalized to the optimization and design of various types of flux pumps,potentially expediting their practical application.

This paper introduces a new prefabricated recyclable double-row piles retaining system for excavations in silty clay *** model test and numerical simulation are conducted to study the system behavior upon *** horizontal displacement(δ_(h)),Von Mises stress(δ_(M)),strain(ε),ground surface settlement(δ_(v)),and earth pressure are systematically ***,the monitoring data of 13 excavation cases supported by double-row piles retaining system are presented and *** experimental results can basically match the numerical results,and the maximumδ_(M),maximum bending moment(M_(max)),maximum horizontal displacement(δ_(hm))of structural members are all less than the tolerance *** ground surface settlement model of double-row piles retaining system consists of three zones,i.e.,rebound influence zone,primary influence zone and secondary influence *** dhm values are 0.07%–1.42%of the excavation depth(He).The maximum ground surface settlement(δ_(vm))is generally less than *** ratio ofδ_(vm)=δ_(hm)varies between 0.09 and 0.76,with an average value of *** observed earth pressure on the retained side of front pile(paf)is about 0.53–0.57γH below the excavation *** the excavation surface,p_(af)decreases dramatically when getting closer to the ground surface.

Investigation on influencing factors of wheel polygonization of a plateau high-speed EMU train

Purpose–This study aims to investigate the cause of high-order wheel polygonization in a plateau high-speed electric multiple unit(EMU)***/methodology/approach–A series of field tests were conducted to measure the vibration accelerations of the axle box and bogie when the wheels of the EMU train passed through tracks with normal rail roughness after ***,the dynamic characteristics of the track,wheelset and bogie were also *** measurements provided insights into the mechanisms that lead to wheel ***–The results of the field tests indicate that wheel polygonal wear in theEMUtrain primarily exhibits 14–16 and 25–27 harmonic *** passing frequencies of wheel polygonization were approximately 283–323 Hz and 505–545 Hz,which closely match the dominated frequencies of axle box and bogie *** findings suggest that the fixed-frequency vibrations originate from the natural modes of the wheelset and bogie,which can be excited by wheel/rail ***/value–The study provides novel insights into the mechanisms of high-order wheel polygonization in plateau high-speed EMU ***,the results indicate that operating the EMU train on mixed lines at variable speeds could potentially mitigate high-order polygonal wear,providing practical value for improving the safety,performance and maintenance efficiency of high-speed EMU trains.

In order to meet the needs of railway operations in western China, the development of Chinese New Train Control System (CTCS-N) has been launched. To obtain complete and correct system requirements for CTCS-N early in system development, this paper applies the scenario-based requirements analysis method in software engineering to the requirements analysis of CTCS-N. This method takes the system operation scenario as input, analyzes the behaviors of the scenario based on ontology theory, and extracts the system requirements contained in the scenario based on SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language) reasoning rules. Furthermore, the timed automata (TA) network model is constructed for requirement verification. Based on the design of the CTCS-N architecture, the above method is used to analyze the requirements based on the train integrity monitoring scenario as an example. The result shows that the method can effectively obtain the system requirements and provides a reference for the requirements development of CTCS-N. © 2022 SPIE.

In the construction technology of an earth pressure balance (EPB) shield, soil conditioning is an important technology. It is possible to condition the properties of excavation soil and improve the excavation efficiency by injecting suitable conditioners. Soil conditioning is more important in cohesionless stratum because the flow plasticity of this stratum is typically poor. The soil is conditioned by the interaction between the soil particles and the soil conditioners, the internal principles of which need to be investigated by microscopic tests. Based on the CT test, the changes in porosity after soil conditioning were analyzed, and it was revealed that soil conditioners can make pores form separate structures. Based on the SEM test, the mechanism for the reduction in porosity of the soil was obtained: the flakes formed by the conditioners replaced the original pores. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing.
