Ag-doped Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) sensor:A promising candidate for lowconcentration H_(2)S gas sensing

Trace hydrogen sulphide(H_(2)S)could reflect the severity of insulation faults in gas-insulated switchgear(GIS),therefore,accurate and fast detection of low-concentration H_(2)S is important for on-line monitoring,fault diagnosis,and state evaluation in ***-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) chemiresistive-type sensors were fabricated via drop-coating with self-reduction synthesised Ag-doped Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x).The as-prepared sensors exhibited an excel-lent sensitivity and selectivity to H_(2)S with an extremely low detection of limit of 18.57 parts per billion(ppb)at 25℃(room temperature).The response of Ag-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) sensor to 10 parts per million(ppm)H_(2)S was enhanced~12 times than that of the pristine Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) *** compositing of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) with Ag nanoparticles(NPs)enabled the fast response/recovery time for H_(2)S *** analysis found that the enhanced H_(2)S sensing performances could be attributed to chemical sensitisation,adsorbed oxygen species regulation and high Brunauer–Emmett–Teller(BET)surface *** study paves the way for Ag-Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) as room-temperature sensing materials to detect low-concentration H_(2)S in GIS.

CO2 laser polishing process can significantly improve the surface quality and the laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) of fused silica optics. However, due to the thermal history of the laser polishing process, the increment of the fictive temperature inside the modification layer would cause densification and residual stress, which critically affect the surface accuracy and the service life of fused silica optics. In this work, a 3D multi-physical coupling model including temperature, fluid flow and fictive temperature was established. Based on the fictive temperature distribution of the fused silica polished by CO2 lasers, the mechanism of laser annealing on the modified layer was revealed. The annealing results of fused silica were defined as three states including incomplete annealing, perfect annealing and over annealing. Based on the simulation results, the fictive temperature inside the modified layer was completely reduced with no increment of modified layer depth under the perfect annealing state. Additionally, the residual stress and the fictive temperature after the laser annealing were characterized by the Raman spectrum. The fictive temperature was reduced by 16.8 % and the residual stress was effectively reduced. This work can provide theoretical and experimental guidance for the control of surface modification and residual stress of fused silica optics polished by CO2 lasers. © 2024 SPIE.

Modern aircraft development increasingly requires intelligent shape design capabilities to satisfy high-performance demands. The rapid and automatic optimization technology for missile shape, as one of the critical technologies in the modern aircraft development, has attracted wide attention. Computational fluid dynamics-based (CFD-based) optimization algorithms are considered as effective technologies and widely used, while requiring multiple iterations of numerical simulations resulting in significant time cost. To overcome the problem, we introduce structured hex mesh to speed up the process. Our algorithm can be divided into four parts. First, extract a set of parameters to control the missile shape. Second, construct a structured hex mesh for the external flow field according to the current missile shape. Third, mesh deformation algorithms are proposed to adapt to the missile shape changes. Fourth, optimize the missile shape control parameters based on the CFD simulation results. The critical technology is to construct an external flow field mesh. We propose a direct construction method to quickly generate structured hex meshes, which can also adapt to the different missile shapes. We improve the Laplace optimization method for geometry optimization, which is indispensable in the boundary layer mesh construction. We also propose a mesh deformation method, which introduces hex mesh topology optimization. The proposed algorithm has significant advantages in speed of mesh generation and numerical simulation and it is fully automatic, users do not need to adjust mesh or parameters manually. The experiment results demonstrate the efficiency and efficacy of our mesh generation and shape design algorithm. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Organisms naturally have extraordinary motor *** can autonomously control the highly redundant and nonlinear musculo-skeletal system to complete fast and flexible *** primitive theory proposed that a complex movement can be realized by modular organization of simple movement *** theory provides a convincing theoretical basis for explaining the extraordinary motor ability of organisms,and has been supported by plenty of experimental evidences in *** a kind of typical motor primitive related to the modular regulation of the spinal motor system,convergent force field was thought to be significant for reducing the complexity of controlling numerous muscles and joints *** by the primitive property of convergent force field,in this paper,we proposed a new algorithm to efficiently construct constraint force field on musculoskeletal system with highly redundant actuators by taking optimized parameters of constraint force field as motor *** with previous methods of constructing constraint force field,the proposed algorithm is able to reduce the dimension of the solution space so as to effectively improve the computational efficiency of constructing constraint force field in musculoskeletal system with redundant *** experiments were carried out in a musculoskeletal system with 10 redundant *** number of optimization iterations and computational time required for constructing constraint force field at a new position were significantly *** system can accurately reach the target position using constant *** work may bring in new inspiration for realizing efficient and accurate motion control of musculoskeletal robots with limited feedback accuracy.

Recently,poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)-based solid polymer electrolytes have been attracting great attention,and efforts are currently underway to develop PEO-based composite electrolytes for next generation high performance all-solid-state lithium metal *** this article,a novel sandwich structured solid-state PEO composite electrolyte is developed for high performance all-solid-state lithium metal *** PEO-based composite electrolyte is fabricated by hot-pressing PEO,LiTFSI and Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene nanosheets into glass fiber cloth(GFC).The as-prepared GFC@PEO-MXene electrolyte shows high mechanical properties,good electrochemical stability,and high lithium-ion migration number,which indicates an obvious synergistic effect from the microscale GFC and the nanoscale *** as,the GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte shows a high tensile strength of 43.43 MPa and an impressive Young's modulus of 496 MPa,which are increased by 1205%and 6048%over those of ***,the ionic conductivity of GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene at 60℃ reaches 5.01×10^(-2) S m^(-1),which is increased by around 200%compared with that of GFC@PEO *** addition,the Li/Li symmetric battery based on GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte shows an excellent cycling stability over 800 h(0.3 mA cm^(-2),0.3 mAh cm^(-2)),which is obviously longer than that based on PEO and GFC@PEO electrolytes due to the better compatibility of GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte with Li ***,the solid-state Li/LiFePO_(4) battery with GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene as electrolyte demonstrates a high capacity of 110.2–166.1 mAh g^(-1) in a wide temperature range of 25–60C,and an excellent capacity retention *** developed sandwich structured GFC@PEO-1 wt%MXene electrolyte with the excellent overall performance is promising for next generation high performance all-solid-state lithium metal batteries.

Modelling and experimental investigation of micro-dimpled structures milling with spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion

To mill fine and well-defined micro-dimpled structures,a machining manner of spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion,where the tool repeats the process of‘feed milling–retract–cutting feed–feed milling again’along the spiral trajectory,was *** the kinematics analysis,it is found that the machining quality of micro-dimpled structures is highly dependent on the machining trajectory using spiral trajectory tool reciprocating *** reveal this causation,simulation modelling and experimental studies were carried out.A simulation model was developed to quantitatively and qualitatively investigate the influence of the trajectory discretization strategies(constant-angle and constant-arc length)and parameters(discrete angle,discrete arc length,and pitch)on surface texture and residual height of micro-dimpled ***,micro-dimpled structures were milled under different trajectory discretization strategies and parameters with spiral trajectory tool reciprocating motion.A comprehensive comparison between the milled results and simulation analysis was made based on geometry accuracy,surface morphology and surface roughness of milled ***,the errors and factors affecting the above three aspects were *** results demonstrate both the feasibility of the established simulation model and the machining capability of this machining way in milling high-quality micro-dimpled *** trajectory tool reciprocating motion provides a new machining way for milling micro-dimpled structures and micro-dimpled functional *** an appropriate machining trajectory can be generated based on the optimized trajectory parameters,thus contributing to the improvement of machining quality and efficiency.

Radiation belt electron wisp inside South Atlantic Anomaly due to terrestrial VLF transmitter observed by MSS-1

The South Atlantic Anomaly represents a region within near-Earth space characterized by a significantly weaker geomagnetic field and a higher flux of energetic particles compared to other areas. It is a space weather hazards to Low-EarthOrbit satellites. There has been evidence that the Very Low Frequency(VLF) waves from the powerful ground VLF radio transmitter in Australia, known as NWC, have the capacity to scatter energetic electrons' pitch angle in the inner radiation *** scattering directs electrons into the drift loss cone, forms a “wisp”, characterized by its peak intensity outside the South Atlantic Anomaly(SAA), and a “rift” exhibiting minimal intensity within SAA. Our findings mark the initial observation of a“wisp” precipitation, an unusual occurrence with peak intensity detected inside the SAA, observed via the Macao Science Satellite-1. Enabled by the Medium-energy Electron Spectrometer onboard Macao Science Satellite-1, we were able to comprehensively measure the full pitch angle distribution at Low-Earth-Orbit. This allowed us to attribute the “wisp” within the anomaly to a specific pitch angle range just outside the drift loss cone, a measurement unattainable by previous satellites. This“wisp” occurrence aligns with previous model predictions, despite being overlooked. Moreover, we distinguished between the trapped and precipitating electron populations. Directly derived from the ratio of these populations, our analysis revealed that approximately 2%-5% of trapped electrons will be lost in this specific wisp due to the influence of the ground VLF *** results not only complement existing evidence of energetic electron pitch angle scattering facilitated by the ground VLF transmitter but also offer a quantitative estimation of its impact.

This paper systematically studies the movement behavior changes of Camponotus japonicus under one or two leg ***,a linear motion channel matching the size of the ants'legs was designed,and the movements of ants with different leg injuries were captured using high-speed cameras,constructing a comprehensive video dataset of ants'movements with missing ***,stable and reliable motion position information for keypoints on the ants'bodies and legs was obtained by utilizing low-annotation biometric keypoint detection ***,by analyzing the filtered gait data,information about the changes in the step locational points areas,phase differences,and duty factors of the injured ants'remaining legs was *** analysis of the ants'gait characteristics revealed some common adjustment patterns when the ants were in the injured ***,the study found that the loss of a foreleg had a significant impact on the ants'*** two legs were missing,the loss of both legs on the same side had a greater effect on movement,whereas symmetric opposite-side leg loss conditions had a lesser *** research will provide an important reference for the subsequent design of gait adjustment algorithms for biomimetic multi-legged robots under damaged conditions.

A Flexible Dual-Mode PiezoelectricPiezoresistive Sensor Based on MXene/PVDFTrFE Hybrid Film.

The advancement of flexible wearable sensors is revolutionizing electronics, medical diagnostics, and human-machine interfaces. However, conventional sensors relying on a single detection mechanism face challenges in capturing both static and dynamic signals. Additionally, their fabrication often requires expensive and complex processes. A cost-effective, highly sensitive dual-mode sensor (FDMS) integrating piezoelectric and piezoresistive mechanisms was developed to address these challenges. An MXene/PVDF-TrFE hybrid layer was fabricated using a simple solution casting method to ensure enhanced performance, durability, and scalability. The sensing layer's SEM and edge detection analysis confirmed a refined grain structure with uniformly dispersed nanosheets, contributing to superior electromechanical properties. Performance evaluations demonstrate a strong linear correlation between applied pressure and piezoelectric and piezoresistive signals. The FDMS exhibits exceptional piezoelectric sensitivity (87.66 mV/N) and piezoresistive sensitivity of 0.37 kPa-1 in the ultra-low-pressure range ( © 2001-2012 IEEE.
