The oil-free dry air compressor plays a crucial role in the fuel cell system, particularly in commercial buses where twin-screw air compressors have proven effective. A novel rotor profile of the twin-screw dry air compressors has been developed, which simplifies the profile curve and yields excellent performance results with a volume flow of 11.99 m3/min and corrected specific power of 3.54 kW/(m3/min). © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Distinct Westerly Wind Burst Features in Cyclic and Noncyclic El Ni?o Events and Their Association with Western-Central Pacific SST Anomalies

El Ni?o–Southern Oscillation(ENSO) is an oscillation of the ocean–atmosphere system in the tropical Pacific, which is argued to be energized by high-frequency stochastic atmospheric disturbances. Among these disturbances, westerly wind bursts(WWBs) play a crucial role in the development of El Ni?o by generating eastward-propagating downwelling Kelvin waves and suppressing the thermocline in the central-eastern equatorial Pacific. The present work elucidates distinct seasonal evolutions of WWBs during cyclic and noncyclic El Ni?o events, and their association with the local sea surface temperature anomalies(SSTAs). For noncyclic El Ni?o events, WWBs prevail over the western-central equatorial Pacific during spring of the developing year, accompanied by local warming SSTAs. In contrast, active WWBs cannot be observed until the developing summer for cyclic El Ni?o events. Significant differences in high-frequency WWBs and associated local deep convection appear in the developing spring season of noncyclic and cyclic El Ni?o events. These differences are closely linked to local SSTAs in the western-central equatorial Pacific via the stimulation of atmospheric deep convection,preceding the full manifestation of ENSO-associated large-scale SSTAs in the central-eastern tropical Pacific. The observed difference in WWBs for noncyclic and cyclic El Ni?o events and its association with the western-central equatorial Pacific SSTAs is realistically reproduced in a coupled general circulation model. This study enhances our comprehension of El Ni?o development by illustrating the intricate connection between WWBs and El Ni?o evolution from the ENSO cycle perspective.

With the development of intelligent manufacturing, industrial robots are more and more widely used in machining operations, and polishing workpiece with free-form surfaces is one of them. The curvature of the free-form surface is variable, which means that the robot needs to have good kinematics when polishing, at the same time, the singularity of the robot needs to be avoided during processing. Therefore, it is necessary to select the regions with better kinematic performance for robot machining. For this reason, based on the kinematic performance evaluation index of the robot, a method for optimizing the machining position of the wheel hub is proposed in this paper. First, a kinematic index based on the Jacobian of the robot is introduced in detail, and the kinematic performance map is drawn according to the forgoing index. Then, the initial position of the workpiece with respect to the robot is determined through the kinematic performance map. Finally, combining the index with the characteristics of wheel hub polishing, the machining position of the robot for polishing the wheel hub is settled. © 2022 IEEE.

The failure rate of aluminum electrolytic capacitor (AEC) is high in power electronic systems. Due to the complex structure of AEC, it is difficult to establish an actual model, so experiments are the common way to analyze the failure of AEC. Thus, this paper proposes a finite element method (FEM) for AEC considering electrolytic failure. Firstly, the mechanism of electrolytic failure and changes of characteristic parameters in the AEC are elucidated. Secondly, an equivalent finite element model is established to simulate and analyze the electrolytic failure of AEC. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed AEC FEM method is verified through capacitor aging experiments. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper explores the use of Multi-Agent Generative Adversarial Imitation Learning (MAGAIL) to model and reconstruct electricity consumer behavior in demand response (DR). DR is a crucial tool for balancing supply and demand in the power system, reducing peak-hour demand, and enhancing grid reliability and flexibility. Traditional consumer behavior reconstructing models struggle with high-dimensional, nonlinear, dynamic, and highly personalized challenges. The GAIL-based method simulates expert behavior strategies and learns from historical consumer data without the need for explicit reward functions, generating strategy models that closely resemble real consumers' behavior. This paper introduces the application of GAIL in load response reconstruction and validates the model's effectiveness using real-world data from the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland (PJM) electricity market. © 2024 IEEE.

Wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)with additional tertiary ultrafiltration membranes and ozonation treatment can improve water quality in receiving ***,the impacts of WWTP upgrade(WWTP-UP)on pathogens carrying antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)and virulence factors(VFs)in rivers remain poorly *** this study,ARGs,VFs,and their pathogenic hosts were investigated in three rivers impacted by large-scale WWTP-UP.A five-year sampling campaign covered the periods before and after *** showed that the abundance of total metagenome-assembled genomes(MAGs)containing both ARGs and VFs in receiving rivers did not decrease substantially after WWTP-UP,but the abundance of MAGs belonging to pathogenic genera that contain both ARGs and VFs(abbreviated as PAVs)declined markedly.'Genome-resolved metagenomics further revealed that WWTP-UP not only reduced most types of VFs and ARGs in PAVs,but also effectively eliminated efflux pump and nutritional VFs carried by PAVs in receiving ***-UP narrowed the pathogenic host ranges of ARGs and VFs and mitigated the cooccurrence of ARGs and VFs in receiving *** findings underline the importance of WWTPUP for the alleviation of pathogens containing both ARGs and VFs in receiving rivers。

PFOA and PFOS induces mineralization of soil organic carbon by accelerating the consumption of dissolved organic carbon

The wide spread of Perfluoroalkyl substances (e.g., PFOA and PFOS) in soil can alter native soil geochemical properties and microbial communities through various approaches. Nonetheless, it is unclear that how PFOA and PFOS in soil affect the mineralization of soil organic carbon (SOC). A laboratory-scale culture experiment (180 d) was performed to explore the contribution of PFOA and PFOS to SOC dynamics and soil geochemical processes. Results showed that positive priming effect (PE) occurred in the short term (i.e., 30 days after PFOA and PFOS addition) and subsequently shifted to a slightly negative PE (i.e., 90 days) and remained in a significant negative PE thereafter (i.e., > 180 days). The PEs caused by PFOA and PFOS both accelerated the consumption of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), resulting in a significant increase in SOC mineralization (10.45%–127.36%) under the short-term incubation (30 d). As for long-term exposure (> 90 d), the organic carbon mineralization rate was significantly reduced (58.30%–65.24%) due to the excessive DOC consumption in the initial stage. High throughput analysis indicated that both PFOA and PFOS changed soil bacterial and fungal community structures, altered the relevant metabolic pathways and resulted in the enrichment of specific taxa.
