To provide a future-proof security solution, we investigate the integration of quantum key distribution (QKD) with distribution communication networks and propose a QKD over TWDM-PON scheme. Some former researches reduced the launch power of classical signals to the level of error-free transmission to mitigate the noise impairments on QKD. However, this sacrifices the transmission reliability of classical signals and is not suitable for distribution communication networks whose reliability influences the distribution grid operation. In this paper, we propose an adaptive power control (APC) scheme, in which the launch power is dynamically optimized by considering different data rate of data traffics and the balance of generating and consuming key resources in quantum key pool. Simulation results verify that APC scheme can obtain a good trade-off between the secure key providing and the reliability of classical signal transmission.

The investigation of condensation-induced water hammer (CIWH) under ocean conditions is vital to the system safety of the offshore floating nuclear plants (OFNPs). This paper establishes a CIWH numerical model under rolling conditions based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code combined with user-defined functions (UDF). First, the numerical model is validated with the experimental data. Then, the transient behaviors of the CIWH under various rolling parameters are numerically investigated. The results show that the rolling motion causes a significant steam slug and increases the steam-subcooled water contact area, which promotes the average condensation rate. The average condensation rate increases as the rolling angle increases and the rolling period decreases. Due to the larger average condensation rate and reverse flow induced by rolling motion, the pressure peak generated by the CIWH significantly increases compared to static conditions. Similarly, the pressure peak increases as the rolling angle increases and the rolling period decrease. Moreover, the pressure peak is proportional to the steam inlet velocity, and the location of the pressure peak gradually moves back to the outlet direction as the steam inlet velocity increases. These qualitative conclusions may serve as a reference for the CIWH simulations under ocean conditions. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This study proposes a novel multi-objective optimization based on improved pathfinder algorithm (IPFA) algorithm and contributes to build a hybrid static dynamic economic dispatch with wind energy. The novel IPFA optimizes the built hybrid static economic dispatch model, while considering inequality and equality constraints during the model solving process. Especially, new energy system reduces the fuel consumption and operation cost of the system;however, the randomness of renewable energy output destroys the stability of the system. The upper limit of wind power grid connection is limited by the permeability constraint, and the constraints such as forbidden operation area constraint and slope rate constraint are considered. The solution speed and stability of the IPFA algorithm are improved through introducing Kent map initialization, nonlinear adaptation factor, and following correction strategy. The validity of the built model and the optimization performance of the proposed method is verified by two cases. The test results reveal that the operation cost obtained by the IPFA considering wind energy is 9.3% and 7.5% lower than that without considering wind energy. The novel method contributes in ensuring the economy and stability of the power system and improving the utilization rate of renewable energy. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

On Modeling Drilling Load in Lunar Regolith Simulant

Drilling and coring, as effective ways to obtain lunar regolith along the longitudinal direction, are widely applied in the lunar sampling field. Conventionally, modeling of drill-soil interaction was divided into soil cutting and screw conveyance processes, ignoring the differences in soil mechanical properties between them. To improve the modeling accuracy, a hypothesis that divides the drill-soil interaction into four parts: cuttings screw conveyance, cuttings extruding, cuttings bulldozing, and in situ simulant cutting, is proposed to establish a novel model based on the passive earth pressure theory. An iterative numerical calculation method is developed to predict the drilling loads. A drilling and coring testbed is developed to conduct experimental tests. Drilling experiments indicate that the drilling loads calculated by the proposed model match well the experimental results. The proposed research provides the instructions to adopt a suitable drilling strategy to match the rotary and penetrating motions, to increase the safety and reliability of drilling control in lunar sampling missions.

Under the background of power interconnection, the accurate measurement of power metering device plays an important role in the lean management of distribution network line loss and the economic benefits of both power suppliers and power consumers. In this paper, the accuracy of electric energy measurement under single-phase ground fault was studied. Meanwhile, a 10 kV distribution network single-phase ground fault test platform was built to analyze the measurement performance changes of three-wire and four-wire power metering device under different single-phase ground fault types. The research results reveal that the single-phase ground fault does not affect the error of voltage transformer. On the power supply side, the power metering device PT adopts the V/v wiring mode, which would cause the energy metering inaccuracy under a single-phase ground fault. In addition, for the unground neutral system, the three-phase and three-wire connection can keep accurate measurement performance. However, for the ground system with neutral point passing through arc suppression coil, there may be measurement error in three-phase and three-wire power metering device. © 2020 IEEE.

The amalgamation of cell-free networks and reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) has become a prospective technique for future sixth-generation wireless communication systems. In this paper, we focus on the precoding and beamforming design for a downlink RIS-aided cell-free network. The design is formulated as a non-convex optimization problem by jointly optimizing the combining vector, active precoding, and passive RIS beamforming for minimizing the weighted sum of users’ mean square error. A novel joint distributed precoding and beamforming framework is proposed to decentralize the alternating optimization method for acquiring a suboptimal solution to the design problem. Finally, numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed precoding and beamforming framework, showing its low-complexity and improved scalability compared with the centralized method. In recent years, the subsynchronous oscillation has arouse wide attention, and the oscillation of turbo-generator will cause serious influence. In general, the eigenvalue method and time domain simulation method are often used to analyze. The two methods focus on the system overall stability, and detailed structure and parameters of each element are required. However, the influence of components on oscillation is often difficult to obtain. In this paper, the positive-net-damping method is used to analyze the influence of the line on the torsional vibration. This method combines the complex torque coefficient method and Nyquist criterion, and divides the whole system into mechanical and electrical subsystems. Then the influence of each component on the damping coefficient can be obtained explicitly. After derivation and simulation verification, the system stability becomes worse at complementary frequency of line resonance frequency, and the line resistance may lead to poor stability. © 2020 IEEE.

The huge axial ratio of supertetragonal perovskites can induce large polarization due to the coupling between the unit cell and ion displacements, which often results in higher Curie temperature or better ferroelectric properties. With the progress of vertical strain engineering, experimentally available supertetragonal PbTiO3 raises much interest in the relation between its intrinsic polarization and structural characteristics, such as the axial ratio and ion displacements that can be obtained with a high-resolution (scanning) transmission electron microscope nowadays. However, the interpretation and use of such obtained structural information are not without peril. Here, employing first-principles calculations, we report on the relationship between the polarization and the structural information for supertetragonal PbTiO3. Our investigation shows that, unlike normal PbTiO3, the strong sublinear correlation raises the difficulty to quantitatively estimate the spontaneous polarization for the axial ratio larger than 1.15. In addition, the relative displacement between cations (i.e., Pb and Ti) proves to be an unsuitable structural parameter to determine the spontaneous polarization, emphasizing the importance of obtaining the positions of anions, albeit presumably more difficult, along with cations.

Under the background of grid-connected guidelines requiring wind power to participate in grid frequency regulation, the doubly fed induction generators based wind turbine (DFIG-based WT) system with additional frequency control will respond to grid frequency change, which will be one of the factors that induce drivetrain torsional vibration. However, existing research are difficult to reveal the disturbance transmission process and coupling relationship of this phenomenon. In view of the above problems, this paper firstly establishes the DFIG-based WT system linearization model considering the grid frequency term, and analyzes the small-signal stability of the oscillation mode with frequency control, and finds the correlation between each control link and the drivetrain. Secondly, the interaction path between controllers and drivetrain is established by using the complex torque analysis theory, and the influence of controller parameters on the stability of drivetrain is studied. Finally, the correctness of the theoretical analysis is verified by time domain simulation and hardware in loop. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.
