At present, the high-voltage back-up protection system is facing the problems of setting difficulty and the complexity of protection coordination causing too long delay. As for the primary system device-dependent configuration principle, it aggravates the complicacy of the secondary circuit which does not have the interchangeability and interoperability, reducing the reliability of the relay protection system. As a result, this article proposes a high-voltage wide-area distributed back-up protection system using circuit breaker IED configuration principle so as to provide comprehensive back-up protection for the circuit breaker-associated primary system. In the article, a protection zoning method based on three typical system structures is demonstrated which is able to simplify IED protection logic and redistrict the protection domain into efficient fault isolation procedures in the substructures. The principle is analyzed under the typical IEEE5 nodes model, and the reliable conclusion is obtained.

Price indicators are considered as the core of optimal allocation of resources in electricity markets. Zonal pricing can provide more flexible price signals than nodal pricing and uniform pricing, and a reasonable division of the energy market into zones is essential. In this paper, a topology based K-means clustering algorithm is developed which starts from calculating the locational marginal prices (LMPs) for a certain period of time as the characteristic values of buses and then clusters the buses characterized by similar dynamic LMPs into zones while taking the system's topology into account. Finally, the methodology is applied to IEEE-118 bus system and a realistic regional power system and the simulation results show that the developed aggregation method is effective and practical.

Worldwide energy crisis and global economic depression make reducing electricity costs has become a focus for many factory managers. This paper set up a Permutation Flow Shop Scheduling (PFSS) model with delay time, which means adding delay time between different jobs to make processing period more flexible. Considering the time of use (TOU) electricity tariff, the PFSS model using the TOU electricity tariffs is established. Meanwhile, the shutdown state is introduced for the proposed model to improve the performance. The proposed PFSS model is solved by genetic algorithm with constructing the new chromosome coding. The experiment demonstrates the new PFSS model can reduce electricity cost by 16.83% and realize the purpose to save electricity cost for factories.

Realizing mode conversion and optical diode effect by coupling photonic crystal waveguides with cavity

We propose a novel two-dimensional photonic crystal structure consisting of two line defect waveguides and a cavity to realize mode conversion based on the coupling effect. The W1/cavity/W2 structure breaks the spatial symmetry and successfully converts the even（odd） mode to the odd（even） mode in the W2 waveguide during the forward（backward）transmission. When considering the incidence of only the even mode, the optical diode effect emerges and achieves approximate 35 d B unidirectionality at the resonant frequency. Moreover, owing to the narrow bandpass feature and the flexibility of the tuning cavity, utilization of the proposed structure as a wavelength filter is demonstrated in a device with a Y-branch splitter. Here, we provide a heuristic design for a mode converter, optical diode, and wavelength filter derived from the coupling effect between a cavity and adjacent waveguides, and expect that the proposed structure can be applied as a building block in future all-optical integrated circuits.

Solution of the practical problems of the ice engineering requires the data about the strength of the ice cover that depends upon its temperature. In most cases, the snow lies on the ice cover and the ice temperature differs from the atmospheric air temperature. To reveal the correlation of the air temperature with temperature on interfaces air-snow and snow-ice, the known in the thermophysics solution of the problem of the heat transfer through the multilayer plate was applied. Derived solution connects the temperature of air and temperature on the snow-ice interface and satisfactory correlates with data of the field measurements of the temperature within snow layer and ice cover and ice thickness on the Heilongjiang （Amur） River. Results of investigation are recommended for the ice temperature evaluation in engineering practice.

A designing method for the secondary system in digital substations is proposed, which takes the graphics software of Power Designing Institutes as a platform. The model of primary system and ICD (IED Capability Description) files of secondary devices are used as initial design information. Designers configure secondary devices and connect virtual terminals on the model of primary systems. Then visual virtual secondary circuits, network physical wiring and functional interoperation are generated to describe the configuration and structure of secondary system in digital substations. At the same time, SCD (Substation Configuration Description) files and CID (Configured IED Description) files will be generated automatically. The proposed method provides visual means for secondary system design in digital substations, which is good for standardized and normalized integration work of secondary systems in substations as well as for installation, adjustment, extension, reconstruction and update of devices in digital substations.

Accurate terrain estimation is essential for unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) to achieve autonomous navigation. However, some existing approaches are difficult to reconstruct the 3D surface in real-time because of serious amount of computation. A method of environmental terrain estimation based on multi-scale radial basis function with a 3D lidar mounted on a moving vehicle was proposed in this paper. By combining kernel template with terrain grid map, the approach is applicable to the non-uniform density distribution of laser point cloud with the increasing detection range and improves the efficiency of calculation. What's more, the estimation of culverts and trees will be more accurate if treat the point cloud in separate layers for suspended obstacles problem. All terrain estimation approaches were verified with good performance in an interactive system, which is set up with Virtual Robot Experimentation Platform (VREP) and actual vehicle.

Considering the locality feature of voltage control problems, This paper proposes a coordinated voltage control method with tiered weight coefficients of optimization targets, the optimization problem is formulated and solved based on the model predictive control method. At the initial control time, the correlation degree between buses is obtained based on the dynamic voltage response feature and fuzzy clustering method and the weak buses are identified according to the predicted system trajectory. In the optimization objective function, the higher correlation degree between the controlled buses and the weak buses leads to lager weight coefficients of the corresponding voltage deviation terms. In a fault scenario, the weight coefficients of the optimization targets are tiered-distributed, and the simulation results of the Nordic32 52-bus test system shows that the proposed method remarkably reduces optimization scale under the premise of a global control performance.

A Multi-dimensional Trust-aware Cloud Service Selection Mechanism Based on Evidential Reasoning Approach

In the last few years, cloud computing as a new computing paradigm has gone through significant development, but it is also facing many problems. One of them is the cloud service selection problem. As increasingly boosting cloud services are offered through the internet and some of them may be not reliable or even malicious, how to select trustworthy cloud services for cloud users is a big challenge. In this paper, we propose a multi-dimensional trust-aware cloud service selection mechanism based on evidential reasoning(ER) approach that integrates both perception-based trust value and reputation based trust value, which are derived from direct and indirect trust evidence respectively, to identify trustworthy services. Here, multi-dimensional trust evidence, which reflects the trustworthiness of cloud services from different aspects, is elicited in the form of historical users feedback ratings. Then, the ER approach is applied to aggregate the multi-dimensional trust ratings to obtain the real-time trust value and select the most trustworthy cloud service of certain type for the active users. Finally, the fresh feedback from the active users will update the trust evidence for other service users in the future.

In traditional model for security constrained economic dispatch(SCED) decision, the limit on power transfer capability of overhead transmission line(OTL) is represented by its static thermal rating(STR) which incurs conservative constraints on OTLs' transfer limits which definitely causes conservative decision results. Comparing with STR, dynamic thermal rating(DTR) is an effective technique to improve the ampacity of OTL based on the monitoring of real-time environmental conditions including ambient temperature, solar radiation, wind speed and direction. Aiming to the issue mentioned above, in this paper, a SCED implementation framework is first designed with DTR technology integration, after that, on basis of the historical data gathered by DTR, a forecasting approach for thermal rating is proposed. Predict the environmental conditions along the overhead line using the exponential smoothing method first and then the forecasting of the DTR can be obtained. Then the benefits that delivered by utilizing the forecast thermal rating in SCED is analyzed via case studies. This paper explores an application pattern of DTR technology in SCED. It is capable of enhancing the power system security and economic performances by exploiting the potential transfer capability of OTLs.
