As the complex anatomical structure of the maxillofacial region, the surgery in this area is high risk and difficult to implement. Then, a multi-arm medical robot assisted maxillofacial surgery using optical navigation was proposed in this paper, which can improve surgical precision and make the doctors away from the heavy manual work. In this paper, the medical robot system and mechanical structure of the robot were introduced. Forward kinematics and inverse kinematics were analysed. Then trajectory planning using quintic polynomial interpolation for smoothly motion was adopted, and rectilinear motion in Cartesian space was adopted. The kinematics was validated and the workspace of the robot was calculated by simulations. Finally, the robot model was established and an experiment was carried out which proved the robot run smoothly and positioned accurately. © 2012 IEEE.

Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle(UAV) has been developed quickly for decades and a new kind of VTOL(Vertical Take-Off and Landing)UAV which is called Ducted-Fan Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle attracts more and more attention. This paper presents a new structure of the ducted-fan UAV. In this vehicle, the actuator system consists of four rotary cylinders which are symmetrically installed at bottom of inside duct. The force used for attitude stabilization is generated by the interaction between the surface of cylinder and the downwash, which is known as Magnus effect. In this paper, the aerodynamic characteristics of propeller-wing interaction for the ducted fan UAV were simulated numerically based on the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) by means of sliding mesh technology. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper proposes a group of picture (GOP)-aware multipath source routing protocol (GMSR) for real-time moving picture experts group (MPEG) video delivery in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs).First,as existing multipath routing protocols usually produce large amount of route reply packets in a short period of time,which may cause traffic congestion,a cumulative route reply strategy (CRR) is employed in this ***,in order to enhance the reliability of the CRR,we investigate a selective route reply salvaging policy (SRRS) to protect an important route reply ***,we explore a novel cross-layer design framework according to the characteristics of MPEG video *** this basis,we introduce a GOP-aware flow control strategy (GFC) to coordinate video delivery,working together with the routing *** simulation results demonstrate that the GMSR achieves a significant improvement of the quality of real-time video streaming.

This paper introduces a novel variation of binary particle swarm optimization(BPSO) algorithm and a further extension to improve its ***,mimicking the behaviors of some creatures group,multiple evolutionary strategies BPSO(MBPSO) is introduced which takes different evolutionary strategies for various particles according to their ***,on the basis of MBPSO,a new strategy is discussed to improve the performance of the MBPSO(M2BPSO) which adopts the concept of the mutation operator aiming to overcome the premature convergence and slow convergent speed during the later stages of the *** proposed two algorithms are tested on seven benchmark functions and their results are compared with those obtained by other *** results show that our methods outperform the other algorithms.

The design of fast global optimal algorithm based on new binocular device

In the research of binocular vision matching algorithm, the high qualitative disparity space image could be acquired using global optimization algorithm, such as Belief Propagation or Graph Cuts. However, these global optimization algorithms are time-consuming and the matching time is usually up to 10-30 seconds, which is difficult to apply in practice environments. The dynamic programming algorithm is one of the global optimization algorithms, which have relative fast matching speed, but it has strip blemish in matching result. A new matching method based on dynamic programming is proposed to accelerate the matching speed and improve the matching quality. First, the edges of the image pair are calculated using optimal operator, then the edge points of the image pair are matched, so a scan-line is cut into several short line segments by the edge points, Secondly, the corresponding line segments are matched using dynamic programming method. Finally, all line segments are matched to obtain the disparity of a scan-line, and the whole disparity space image is acquired for matching of every scan-line, because of decreasing the length of the candidate line segments, the total matching time is reduced significantly. The experimental results indicate that the matching speed is accelerated greatly with better disparity image quality.

Histogram of the Oriented Gradient for Face Recognition

The histogram of oriented gradient has been successfully applied in many research fields with excellent performance especially in pedestrian detection. However, the method has rarely been applied to face recognition. Aimed to develop a fast and efficient new feature for face recognition, the original HOG and its variations were applied to evaluate the effects of different factors. An information theory-based criterion was also developed to evaluate the potential classification power of different features. Comparative experiments show that even with a relatively simple feature descriptor, the proposed HOG feature achieves almost the same recognition rate with much lower computational time than the widely used Gabor feature on the FRGC and CAS-PEAL databases.

Introduce the basic concept of best rational approximation and constructing procedure of the best rational approximation function in Laplace domain. By an illustrative example the design method of FOC based on best rational approximation is discussed. The performance comparison of transfer functions between the FOC obtained by best rational approximation method and conventional PID shows that it is effective to apply the method in design of FOC, which can guarantee maximum absolute error of amplitude frequency characteristic of approximation function in a given error tolerance.

Manifold learning is an important feature extraction approach in data mining. This paper presents a new semi-supervised manifold learning algorithm, called Multi-Manifold Discriminative Analysis (Multi-MDA). The proposed method is designed to explore the discriminative information hidden in geodesic distances. The main contributions of the proposed method are: 1) we propose a semi-supervised graph construction method which can effectively capture the multiple manifolds structure of the data, 2) each data point is replaced with an associated feature vector whose elements are the graph distances from it to the other data points. Information of the nonlinear structure is contained in the feature vectors which are helpful for classification, 3) we propose a new semi-supervised linear dimension reduction method for feature vectors which introduces the class information into the manifold learning process and establishes an explicit dimension reduction mapping. Experiments on benchmark data sets are conducted to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
