Influences of the ambient humidity and temperature on the material removal and wear behaviors on the soft-brittle KDP optics lithographed by the AFM probes

KDP (K2HPO4) crystals possess excellent nonlinear electro-optical properties and are often employed as Pockels cells and frequency converters. Ink-free DPN (IF-DPN) provides a promising method to lithograph surface nano-patterns in KDP optics to improve their laser damage resistances. However, material removal and wear behaviors are greatly affected by humidity and temperature. In this work, theoretical analyses at atomic- and electronic-scales are performed based on molecular dynamics and ab initio to study lithography behaviors (indentation and scratching) for IF-DPN. Lithography experiments with different humidity and temperatures are also executed on KDP substrate, which align well with theoretical results. During indentation processes, surface materials are squeezed into substrate, leading to deep subsurface damages and significant material recoveries. While the scratching processes would cause intense surface material stripping, and sharp-edge of AFM probe facilitates this process. Numerous K-related chemical structure defects would emerge during the lithography processes, which is the predisposition of microstructure change inside KDP crystal. The binding processes of AFM probe, water, and KDP crystal are spontaneous exothermic reactions. Bonding reactions of Si-O, Si-H, and O-H covalent bonds would expedite the wear of AFM probe and KDP crystal. The humidity affects lithography behaviors mainly through chemical dissolution actions, reducing surface integrity and structural strength of KDP crystal and facilitating material stripping. The high humidity would intensify the hydroxylation reaction occurring on AFM probe and KDP crystal surfaces, enhancing their hydrophilicity. The high temperature would result in a reduction of the condensed water meniscus and adsorbed water film, weakening chemical actions of IF-DPN. Recently, more attention has been paid to the humidity-related failure of power devices, and some failure is related to thermal resistance increment at an early stage during aging tests. However, this phenomenon still needs further verification. In this article, the influence of humidity on the thermal resistance of power devices is studied based on three kinds of DUTs packaged with epoxy molding compound (EMC) and silica gel with/without baseplate. The results show that moisture can invade DUT and cause transient thermal impedance Zth variation in two aspects, one corresponds to the case surface of DUTs, and the other corresponds to the solder layer of DUTs. © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

Conductive hydrogels have been extensively exploited in wearable medical monitoring, intelligent robotics, and human-machine interaction. Here, we construct an interpenetrating network of self-healing hydrogel using gelatine-modified carbon nanotubes (G/C) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polymerization chains (given as PGC). A bonding agent, borax, was chemically cross-linked with PVA molecular chains to impart self-healing ability. The addition of G/C enhances the tensile behavior and conductivity of the hydrogels. With superior sensing capability and favorable biocompatibility, the PGC hydrogel described in this study offers valuable insights for developing ideal wearable strain sensors. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Aiming at the problems of poor scalability and difficult reuse of hardware and software when IoT services are processed at smart terminals, this paper unifies the resource requirements of IoT services and takes resource balancing as the basis to decide the terminal location and resource allocation parameters for processing services. Firstly, the resource requirements of scenario services are decomposed and reconstructed, and the values of terminal resource allocation are obtained through the method of resource mapping. Then two types of resource balancing-based clustering algorithms are proposed to obtain the intelligent allocation scheme for the terminal resource. Finally, the optimal number of terminals, resource allocation and service distribution results are obtained by analyzing and comparing the evaluation value of smart terminal resources. Compared with the traditional resource design, the method has the advantages of high scalability, short design time and balanced resources. © 2023 IEEE.

In the complex optimization scenarios of real life, we often need to not only weigh the conflicts between multi-objectives but also face the challenges brought by large-scale decision variables. When the scale of decision variables increases sharply, the search space will expand exponentially, which makes it difficult for the algorithm to traverse the whole search space under limited resources, so that the number of local optimal solutions increases sharply. The so-called 'dimension disaster' appears. To effectively deal with this problem, this paper proposes a large-scale multi-objective brainstorm optimization algorithm (LMaOBSO) based on low complexity decision variable classification method and improved penalty boundary intersection strategy. The algorithm uses a low-complexity tree sorting variable classification method to divide the decision variables into converges and diversity variables quickly. At the same time, the convergent variables are optimized by the improved penalty boundary crossover strategy to solve the problems existing in large-scale optimization problems. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Planetary gearboxes find extensive application in wind power generation, aerospace, industrial production and other fields. Harsh operational conditions and prolonged periods of continuous work often lead to various gear damages. Therefore, it is important to continuously monitor the health status of planetary gearboxes. However, the fault-sensitive frequencies of planetary gearboxes used in the existing signal models and fault diagnosis indicators are calculated theoretically or searched artificially. In response to this, this paper proposes a strategy for identifying fault-sensitive frequencies in planetary gearboxes intelligently by combining spectral amplitude analysis with three models: Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Deep Neural Network (DNN). Evergreen broad-leaved forests(EBLFs) are widely distributed in East Asia and play a vital role in ecosystem stability. The occurrence of these forests in East Asia has been a subject of debate across various disciplines. In this study, we explored the occurrence of East Asian EBLFs from a paleobotanical perspective. By collecting plant fossils from four regions in East Asia, we have established the evolutionary history of EBLFs. Through floral similarity analysis and paleoclimatic reconstruction, we have revealed a diverse spatio-temporal pattern for the occurrence of EBLFs in East Asia. The earliest occurrence of EBLFs in southern China can be traced back to the middle Eocene, followed by southwestern China during the late Eocene-early Oligocene. Subsequently, EBLFs emerged in Japan during the early Oligocene and eventually appeared in central-eastern China around the Miocene. Paleoclimate simulation results suggest that the precipitation of wettest quarter(PWet Q, mm) exceeding 600 mm is crucial for the occurrence of EBLFs. Furthermore, the heterogeneous occurrence of EBLFs in East Asia is closely associated with the evolution of the Asian Monsoon. This study provides new insights into the occurrence of EBLFs in East Asia.

Comparing the isotopic composition of the D/H ratio of the water ice in main belt comets (MBCs) to that of the oceans on the Earth can enhance the understanding of where the water comes from and of how the distribution of the water ices in our early solar system. Since mineral volatiles are normally covered underground, it is difficult to accurately detect its composition from remote observation. Herein, a subsurface penetrating probe integrated with non-contamination detonation is proposed to realize an in-situ exploration. Under the rapid turbo-blasting interaction, the surrounding rubble piles will be definitely blown away, leaving an artificial crater for later remote observation. A novel a helium type turbo-blasting device (TBD) is proposed and designed. The simulant rubble pile structure detonation experiments verified the detonation equivalent.

In recent years, micromanipulator with dual end-effectors called microhand has been widely used in industrial and biological fields. Whether the tip positions of the two end-effectors of the microhand can be accurately aligned seriously affects the precise grasping of the microhand. However, few researchers have presented practical ways for precisely aligning the tip positions of a 6-DOF microhand's two end- effectors. This paper proposes a novel, inexpensive, lightweight, robust, and easy-to-use microhand dual end-effectors clamping device that can precisely and quickly align the two end-effectors of a 6-DOF microhand. First, we describe the microhand dual end-effectors clamping device's lightweight structural design. After that, we simplify the microhand dual end-effectors clamping device model and create a mathematical model to determine the relationship between the end-effectors' tip position and the rotation angles of screw No.1, screw No.2, screw No.3 of the microhand dual end-effectors clamping device. Through experimentation, we are able to attain precise alignment of the two end-effectors tip positions of the 6-DOF microhand, so we confirm that our mathematical model is true. Finally, we use the impulse response of PZT in the microhand's lower module to confirm the stability of the microhand dual end- effectors clamping device. We believe that the proposed the microhand dual end-effectors clamping device has great potential in industrial and biological applications as a universal tool for precise alignment of the tip positions of the two end-effectors of a 6-DOF microhand. © 2024 IEEE.

To improve the algorithm performance of mixed integer programming, determining the state of some integer variables in advance is the most direct and effective method. In this paper, we propose a heuristic algorithm based on characteristic analysis of unit and load for unit commitment problem. Starting with the initial state of a given unit, the state of every unit at each time point is examined. Then, the unit is considered to be put into operation when the system positive reserve not be met, and taking the load intersection line across this operation point to obtain all load characteristic values corresponding the unit, such as the load intersection point, intersection point-pair, regression time and so on. Finally, based on the division of load period, the treatment of the unit is determined one by one. By testing the standard examples and practical examples, the proposed method can save about 30% of computing time, which effectively improves the performance of mixed integer programming. © 2023 IEEE.
