An innovative curling-like amphibious robot was developed for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics ground and underwater torch relay. The shape design of imitation curling was applied to the robot in response to the theme of Winter Olympics. The amphibious robot had ground mode and water mode. In ground mode omnidirectional wheels drove the robot to rotate and move forward. The method of constant angular velocity rotation superimposed forward motion overcame ground slip. The nonlinear control of the system was improved by applying this actuation method when the robot slipped. In water mode the X-layout horizontal thrusters and vertical thrusters were applied to sail and hover. The position, depth, attitude and heading of the robot were precisely controlled when the amphibious robot dived into water for torch docking, which was realized through DVL, heading and attitude reference system. The multiple PD controllers with large control damping and phase margin were employed for the robot's control algorithm, so the control system was not diverge when the torch was collided or squeezed. Ultimately, the first underwater torch relay between robots in Olympic history was completed at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. © 2022 SPIE.

To address the precision limitation of traditional thermal models and the computational inefficiency of electromagnetic-thermal coupling finite element models, this work proposes a multidimensional correction-based electromagnetic-thermal coupling design optimization method for electric machines. Firstly, this method corrects the sensitive parameters in the analytical lumped parameters thermal network model (LPNM) based on prior information from historical experimental data to ensure the accuracy for thermal performance analysis. Subsequently, to enhance computational efficiency, a large number of low-fidelity (LF) samples are obtained using the corrected thermal model in a serial electromagnetic-thermal field calculation manner, complemented by a small number of high-fidelity (HF) samples obtained from the electromagnetic-thermal coupling simulation model. Then, by employing a transfer learning technique, the data information from the low- to high-fidelity sample sets is comprehensively utilized to train a multi-fidelity (MF) surrogate model for the final optimization. The proposed method applied to a high-torque-density aerospace propulsion permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with short-term strong overload capability, it not only significantly improves the accuracy of LPNM, but also reduces the training sample acquisition time by over 50% under the same model accuracy. Finally, a prototype is tested to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Phase change cooling system is a key component of high power electronic equipment, and its insulation performance plays a very important role in the stable operation of power system. Aiming at the problem of two-phase flow charging in the phase change cooling system, a device for generating and detecting two-phase flow charging is designed in this paper, and a test method for two-phase flow and single-phase flow charging is proposed. First of all, it can generate two-phase flow, control the two-phase flow in a certain boiling state to measure the flush current, simulate the actual condition of phase change media in high-power power electronic equipment. Secondly, it can measure the charging of single-phase liquid flow at the same time and compare the charging degree of the same phase change medium in the two-phase state and the monomeric state. Microelectromechanical system(MEMS)pressure sensors based on silicon are widely used and offer the benefits of miniaturization and high ***,they cannot easily withstand high temperatures exceeding 150 ℃ because of intrinsic material ***,we proposed and executed a systematic and full-process study of Sic-based MEMS pressure sensors that operate stably from-50 to 300 ℃.First,to explore the nonlinear piezoresistive effect,the temperature coefficient of resistance(TCR)values of 4H-SiC piezoresistors were obtained from-50 to 500 ℃.A conductivity variation model based on scattering theory was established to reveal the nonlinear variation ***,a piezoresistive pressure sensor based on 4H-SiC was designed and *** sensor shows good output sensitivity(3.38 mVN/MPa),accuracy(0.56%FS)and low temperature coefficient of sensitivity(TCS)(-0.067%FS/℃)in the range of-50 to 300 ℃.In addition,the survivability of the sensor chip in extreme environments was demonstrated by its anti-corrosion capability in H_(2)SO_(4) and NaOH solutions and its radiation tolerance under 5 W ***,the sensor developed in this work has high potential to measure pressure in high-temperature and extreme environments such as are faced in geothermal energy extraction,deep well dilling,aeroengines and gas turbines.

Safeguarding high voltage direct current (HVDC) systems against direct current faults is an inherently demanding task. A promising solution to tackle this challenge is the application of piezoelectrically actuated fast mechanical switches (PA-FMS). However, mechanical resonance and random vibrations in the travel curves of P A-FMS have a substantial impact on their control accuracy. To tackle this challenge, a robust-tube model predictive control (RTMPC) strategy is developed. RTMPC drives the disturbed system state into the minimal robustly positively invariant (mRPI) set centered on the target and ensures that constraints are satisfied. The error feedback gain is calculated using the proposed linear matrix inequality (LMI) based method to minimize the effect of disturbances on the trajectory. An efficient outer approximation method is used to compute the mRPI set. Simulation results show that the critically damped travel curves have been achieved, along with a reduction of the external disturbances by 98%. © 2024 IEEE.

Due to the excellent mechanical,chemical,and electrical properties of third-generation semiconductor silicon carbide(SiC),pressure sensors utilizing this material might be able to operate in extreme environments with temperatures exceeding 300℃.However,the significant output drift at elevated temperatures challenges the precision and stability of ***-time in situ temperature monitoring of the pressure sensor chip is highly important for the accurate compensation of the pressure *** this study,we fabricate platinum(Pt)thin-film resistance temperature detectors(RTDs)on a SiC substrate by incorporating aluminum oxide(Al_(2)O_(3))as the transition layer and utilizing aluminum nitride(AIN)grooves for alignment through microfabrication *** composite layers strongly adhere to the substrate at temperatures reaching 950℃,and the interface of the Al2O3/Pt bilayer remains stable at elevated temperatures of approximately 950 *** stability contributes to the excellent high-temperature electrical performance of the Pt RTD,enabling it to endure temperatures exceeding 850℃ with good *** characteristics establish a basis for the future integration of Pt RTD in SiC pressure ***,tests and analyses are conducted on the interfacial diffusion,surface morphological,microstructural,and electrical properties of the Pt flms at various annealing *** can be inferred that the tensile stress and self-diffusion of Pt films lead to the formation of hillocks,ultimately reducing the electrical performance of the Pt thin-flm *** increase the upper temperature threshold,steps should be taken to prevent the agglomeration of Pt films.

Scene text recognition (STR) on Latin datasets has been extensively studied in recent years, and state-of-the-art (SOTA) models often reach high accuracy. However, the performance on non-Latin transcripts, such as Chinese, is not satisfactory. In this paper, we collect six open-source Chinese STR datasets and evaluate a series of classic methods performing well on Latin datasets, finding a significant performance drop. To improve the performance on Chinese datasets, we propose a novel radical-embedding (RE) representation to utilize the ideographic descriptions of Chinese characters. The ideographic descriptions of Chinese characters are firstly converted to bags of radicals and then fused with learnable character embeddings by a character-vector-fusion-module (CVFM). In addition, we utilize a bag of radicals as supervision signals for multi-task training to improve the ideographic structure perception of our model. Experiments show performance of the model with RE + CVFM + multi-task training is superior compared with the baseline on six Chinese STR datasets. © 2022. The submerged phase change cooling technology has excellent heat transfer performance, can reduce the ground occupation of the ice melting device, and has good economic benefits.
