Advanced Operation and Control Schemes of Retired Batteries in DC Microgrid for Secondary Usage

The utilization of repurposed second-life batteries from electric vehicles in DC microgrids presents a sustainable and cost-effective solution. However, efficiently integrating these batteries within DC microgrids poses two main challenges: (1) poor consistency among retired battery packs;(2) fluctuations in the DC bus voltage. Traditional approaches primarily focus on achieving the state of charge (SOC) balancing within retired battery packs, often neglecting the suppression of voltage fluctuations, thereby compromising system stability. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a virtual DC machine (VDCM)-based control strategy that enhances both the power quality of the DC microgrid and the consistency of retired battery packs. On the one hand, reconfigurable topology and SOC balancing strategies are developed to manage the equalization current, achieving SOC balancing within the retired battery packs. On the other hand, a VDCM strategy is designed to leverage the capacity characteristics of retired batteries to increase the inertia of the DC microgrid. Compared to conventional methods, experimental results show that the proposed strategy not only maintains SOC balancing during both the charging and discharging phases but also significantly reduces overshoot and settle times of dc voltage to 64.2% and 55.6%, respectively. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

3D facial similarity measure is a critical research direction in fields such as 3D face recognition, craniofacial reconstruction, and heritability estimation, etc. and represents a challenging and meaningful task. In this paper, we propose a novel method based on deformation field to establish the similarity relationship between 3D faces. The main idea is divided into two steps as follows: (1) The landmarks are semi-automatically marked on all faces to build correspondences between landmarks (2) According to the distance field and the dense corresponding relationship of faces, a deformation field is generated between 3D faces that deform the source model to the target model. The path of deformation is computed to measure the similarity between two 3D faces. Comprehensive experiments conducted on the BU3DFE database illustrate that the similarity measure method is consistent with the subjective evaluation and provides high discriminability for different individuals. © 2021 IEEE.

The state identification of the operational status of power systems plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliable operation of power systems, forming the foundation for the management and control of power system operations. In the practical operation of power systems, the duration of fault states is short, while the system remains in a safe and stable state for a significantly longer period, leading to an imbalance in the training samples available. This imbalance can cause traditional machine learning classification algorithms to favor the majority categories of power system operational states, resulting in inaccurate evaluation metrics and reduced model generalization capability. To address this issue, this paper introduces a spatiotemporal dynamic graph neural network model for the identification of power system operational states. By incorporating class cost coefficients, focal loss, and cross-entropy in a joint loss function, the model adaptively focuses on the less represented operational state categories during training, improving classification accuracy on imbalanced and challenging samples. Moreover, the integration of temporal information and spatial topology information within the graph neural network enhances the model’s robustness and generalization ability in state identification. Experimental results on the standard IEEE 68-bus system demonstrate that, compared to traditional machine learning methods, the proposed joint loss with the spatiotemporal dynamic graph neural network model achieves higher accuracy in the identification of power system operational states, significantly improving classification performance on imbalanced samples with a 4.8% increase in F1-score, reaching a peak F1-score of 98.6%.

For analyzing the power system with high penetration of wind power, it is important to establish accurate models of wind turbines and wind farms, which is a basic and important work. In the analysis of wind power grid integration, it is necessary to aggregate the equivalent value of the wind farm into one or a few wind turbines. At present, there are two commonly used equivalence methods: current source multiplication (commonly used in commercial software) and full dynamic aggregation method. The former achieves wind farm equivalence by multiplying the output current of a single wind turbine generator, while the latter dynamically aggregates the wind farm into one or several large wind turbine generators. There is still a lack of research on the differences between the two. Based on the actual wind farm structure, this paper studies the electrical characteristics of steady-state operation and transient fault ride through operation using single machine dynamic aggregation method and current source multiplication method separately, and compares the equivalent simulation results with the detailed wind farm simulation results. The equivalent accuracy of the single machine aggregation method and the current source multiplication method is calculated to provide a reference for method selection in wind farm equivalent modeling.

Printed circuit board (PCB) placement is a critical stage in industrial chip design, which still heavily relies on manual methods, leading to substantial design time consumption. Given the frequent occurrence of similar or identical modules in different PCB designs, the reuse of placements emerges as a promising avenue to enhance the efficiency of PCB placement. In this paper, we propose a sub graph matching based reference placement algorithm to achieve PCB placement reuse, thereby improving placement efficiency. We first take the netlist of the already placed and unplaced circuits as input and abstract them into graphs. Then, we construct and filter candidate spaces based on the characteristics of components and nets. In the process of filtering candidate spaces, we adopt diversity handling that includes cut edges and block nodes to ensure the proposed algorithm can handle inexact matching. Finally, we introduce virtual nodes to construct a matching tree using a combination of depth-first search (DFS) and breadth-first search (BFS), and then perform hierarchical matching based on this matching tree to complete the sub graph matching and obtain the placement results. Experimental results show that in large-scale PCB cases, our algorithm runs much faster than the state-of-the-art works. Particularly, the matching rate of our algorithm is almost 100% for the tested cases.

Gaussian boson sampling (GBS) is not only a feasible protocol for demonstrating quantum computational advantage, but also mathematically associated with certain graph-related and quantum chemistry problems. In particular, it is proposed that the generated samples from the GBS could be harnessed to enhance the classical stochastic algorithms in searching some graph features. Here, we use Jiǔzhāng, a noisy intermediate-scale quantum computer, to solve graph problems. The samples are generated from a 144-mode fully connected photonic processor, with photon click up to 80 in the quantum computational advantage regime. We investigate the open question of whether the GBS enhancement over the classical stochastic algorithms persists—and how it scales—with an increasing system size on noisy quantum devices in the computationally interesting regime. We experimentally observe the presence of GBS enhancement with a large photon-click number and a robustness of the enhancement under certain noise. Our work is a step toward testing real-world problems using the existing noisy intermediate-scale quantum computers and hopes to stimulate the development of more efficient classical and quantum-inspired algorithms.

The traffic management system in civil aviation adopts map projection when processing the target track position, but the distortion caused by the coordinate projection error will affect the processing accuracy of the system. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes an optimization method based on the networking mode, constructs multiple networking centers and processing units to form a target tracking report relationship, implements distributed processing splicing according to the regional target situation, and discusses the coordinates in the system networking mode Principles of the use of the system and coordinate conversion. The primary objective of conducting deviation analysis in the context of assembly process is to ascertain and guarantee the quality and precision of the final product. The deviation analysis is important for components that are prone to deformation. The conventional analysis approach primarily relies on the identification of local feature points on individual components to establish relationship between deviations before and after assembly. However, the method does not sufficiently represent the spatial distribution of deviations across the parts. The conventional approach also fails to account for shape inaccuracies and the influence of multiple sources of deviation coupling to certain degree. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel deviation framework for analyzing the sheet metal assembly process based on the skin model shapes and a conditional Generative Adversarial Network (cGAN). The cross-scale shape errors of the critical feature surfaces are modeled by taking the statistical parameters into account. Additionally, the contour maps of the established surface models and the multiple-source deviations are combined using images in order to construct the data for the flexible deviation network models. Then, the finite element method is used to simulate the assembly process, yielding the final component deviations. The contour maps of the assembly deviations and the images of the part deviations are utilized as the input conditions and ground truth for the dataset. The simulations and experiments conducted in this study provide evidence to support the effectiveness of the proposed method in predicting field-to-field deviation deformation. The results indicate that the proposed method outperforms traditional approaches in terms of accuracy. Furthermore, this approach enables end-to-end deviation prediction. To explore the impact of different components of track deformation caused by temperature variations of cable-stayed bridges (CSBs) and slab tracks on the dynamic response of high-speed trains (HSTs), this paper established an analytical framework based on Improved Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (ICEEMDAN) and deep learning. Initially, a finite element model for the slab track-CSB and a multi-body dynamics model for HST-CSB were established to calculate the temperature-induced deformation of the slab tracks on the CSB and the corresponding dynamic response of the HST. Subsequently, the ICEEMDAN and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)-Bi-Long Short-term Memory (BiLSTM)-Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), were fused to obtain the integrated ICEEMDAN-CNN-BiLSTM-CBAM (ICBC) model. The ICEEMDAN can effectively decompose the signal of track deformation by frequency, while BiLSTM had superior performance in capturing the spatial features of input data. The model could establish the mapping relationship between track deformation components and vehicle dynamic responses. The main conclusions obtained are as follows: When both the CSB and slab track experienced a simultaneous temperature rise, it resulted in an intricate combination of short-wave track deformations, long-wave bridge deformations, and localized deformations induced by girder ends. At the mid-span location, since the span length is as large as 450m, the wavelength of the deformation induced by temperature variations has also increased. By extracting the weight vectors of the output neural network model, the contribution of each Intrinsic Mode Functions to the vehicle dynamic response was obtained. The dynamic response of HSTs was most sensitive to the long-wave and large-amplitude components in the temperature deformation of slab track on CSB. In order to study the mechanism of high temperature environment's influence on the mechanical properties and interparticle interactions of ceramic polymer materials for fire-resistant cables, the typical models of three ceramic polyolefin Formulations were established according to the distribution proportion of each material. With the assistance of molecular simulation software, molecular dynamics simulation was carried out. The results show that with the increase of temperature, the intermolecular interaction weakens, the mechanical modulus decreases, and the FFV increases. The Formulation with the most significant intermolecular interaction at high temperature, the one with the largest mechanical modulus at the same temperature and the one with the slowest increase of FFV with temperature's increase is the mixture system of ceramic ethylene butene copolymer and 28% EVA. The simulation results can provide reference for the selection of polyolefin ceramic materials for fire resistant cables. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
