The detection of industrial invisible gas leakages plays a vital role in preventing environmental pollution, economic losses, and fire accidents. However, most industrial gas leakages can only be sensed by infrared thermography, and the invisible gas features in thermal images are extremely indistinct, posing great challenges for accurate and timely detection. To address this issue, we first captured gas leakage images from several industrial scenes by thermal cameras and establish the Industrial Invisible Gas (IIG) Dataset, building the foundation for visual industrial invisible gas detection research. Furthermore, to achieve high-accuracy and real-time industrial invisible gas detection, we propose a new lightweight network, namely GasNet. Consisting of the GasConv Block and the GasViT Block, the GasNet extracts distinct gas features by the fusion of local and global features, significantly reducing the negative impact caused by the extremely indistinct gas features on detection accuracy. Specifically, the GasConv Block is designed to fully extract the local features by combining a new Multi-scale Fusion Feature Attention (MsFFA) module which constructs multi-scale channel and spatial feature fusion maps, enabling the network to focus on more valid local information. Meanwhile, the GasViT Block extracts the global features in terms of the self-attention mechanism, while keeping the network lightweight by the innovative linear structure design of the Multi-head Linear Self-attention (MhLSa) module, leading to sufficient global feature extraction with a low computation cost. Our experimental results on the IIG Dataset show GasNet achieves 82.7% mAP50, significantly outperforming the state-of-the-art lightweight networks as ShuffleNetv2, MobileNetv3, and MobileViT. Moreover, GasNet achieves 33 FPS real-time detection with a running memory footprint of only 47.2 MB on edge computing devices and has been widely implemented in industrial invisible gas detection tasks. ©

Although micro-milling has been regarded as the most promising method to repair the micro-defects on KH2PO4 (KDP) optics surfaces, residual tool marks are inevitably generated on the repaired surfaces and would pose a direct impact on the laser-induced damage (LID) threshold of repaired KDP optics. In this work, a residual tool marks model was developed to characterize the repaired surface morphologies processed by different milling strategies (e.g. layer-milling and spiral-milling strategies). Then the predicted tool marks were utilized to built a light-filed intensity modulation model to reveal the relationship between the residual tool marks and its related optical performance. The practical of LID tests well verified the simulation results. It was revealed that the milling strategies indeed have a significant influence on the ultimate LID resistance of KDP optics after repair through impacting the generation of residual tool marks. The spiral-milling method with a smaller path interval can produce a laser-friendly repaired surfaces, which have a equivalent laser-induced resistance with the original fly cutitng surface, while the layer-milling method has a higher machining efficiency. Therefore, an optimized repair procedure, adopting layer-milling path as rough milling and spiral-milling as fine milling, was proposed for pratical engineering application in ICF facilities in the future. Robotic arms are critical for industrial automation. However, it requires a fast and accurate trajectory-tracking response despite the presence of system parametric uncertainties and time-dependent external disturbances. This paper addresses the robotic arm trajectory-tracking problem using a second- order sliding mode observer (SOSMO)-based integral sliding mode control (ISMC) scheme. Initially, we propose a SOSMO design to estimate total system perturbations. The observer estimation errors converge to a small tunable region around zero in finite time. Later, exploiting the SOSMO estimates, a robust ISMC is designed to improve the trajectory tracing performance of the system. We employ the Lyapunove stability theory to prove the convergence of observer estimation and closed-loop system state error to zero in finite time. Finally, comparative numerical simulation results validate the effectiveness and robust performance of the proposed composite control algorithm.

Performance gain bounds of coherently combining multiple radars in a target-based calibration manner

To achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) while maintaining moderate radar antenna, a target-based calibration manner is available to coherently combine multiple radars. The key to this calibration manner is to estimate coherence parameters(CPs), i.e., time and phase calibration values in transmission and reception estimation, by separating the target returns into monostatic and bistatic echoes. However, CPs estimations exist uncertainties, which will affect the performance gain after multiradar coherent combination. The principle of coherently combining multiple radars is elaborated and the signal probability model for CPs estimation is established. On this basis, CPs Cramer-Rao bound(CRB) is derived in the closed-form, according to which the non-tight and tight upper bounds for multiple radars coherent combination performance gain are derived in the closed-form and via Monte Carlo(MC) simulations, respectively. Simulations validate the correctness of the derived CRB and gain bounds.

Aiming to address the stability challenges in power systems caused by the volatility and uncertainty of photovoltaic (PV) power generation, an optimization strategy for PV-storage systems incorporating demand response (DR) is proposed. Which is based on PV generation characteristics, Time-of-Use Pricing (TUP), and demand side flexibility. A multi-objective optimization model is established to balance the operational and environmental costs of PV-storage configuration. Building on dynamic adjustments at the demand side, a Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithm with dynamic inertia weighting is introduced to enhance global search capability for optimized energy storage (ES) configuration. In case study, two scenarios are designed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model in reducing costs and improving PV utilization rates.

The fault transient characteristics of power grids have undergone a fundamental transformation as a consequence of the advent of hybrid scale access to power grids by new energy sources. Nevertheless, the existing stand-alone equivalent model is unable to accurately characterise the fault transient characteristics of the hybrid light-water-wind electric field/cluster. Furthermore, the simulation computation of the stand-alone equivalent model is considerable in scale and the simulation efficiency is low. This paper proposes a particle swarm neural network-based clustered equivalent modelling method for a light-water-wind hybrid electric field. Firstly, a transient model of the light-water-wind hybrid electric field is established, and the characteristic influence factors of faults are constructed through theoretical analysis. These include the distance between the light-water-wind hybrid electric field and the point of common coupling (PCC), the input of current limiting measures on the DC side, the light, the water speed, the wind speed, and the reactive power at the outlet. Subsequently, the Euclidean distance is calculated for the set of characteristic influencing factors, and the initial centre of clustering of wind turbines is extracted based on the improved maximum-minimum distance method. Ultimately, the clustering equivalent modelling is accomplished through the utilisation of the aforementioned feature influencing factors and the classification initial centre as the training set. The simulation results show that compared with the single-machine equivalent model, The simulation error has been reduced from the order of magnitude of 10-2 p.u. to the order of magnitude of 10-4 p.u., while the simulation efficiency of this method is has been reduced from the order of magnitude of 10-2 s to the order of magnitude of 10-4 s.

Wavelength selective switch (WSS) is the crucial component in the reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM),which plays a pivotal role in the next-generation all-optical networks. We present a compact architecture of twin 1×40 liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS)-based WSS,which can be regarded as a 4f system in the wavelength direction and a 2f system in the switching direction. It is designed with theoretical analysis and simulation investigation. Polarization multiplexing is employed for two sources of twin WSS by polarization con-version before the common optical path. The WSS system attains a coupling efficacy exceeding 96％ for 90％ of the ports through simulation optimization. The 3 dB bandwidth can be achieved by more than 44 GHz at a 50 GHz grid for all 120 channels at all deflection ports. This work establishes a solid foundation for developing high-performance WSS with larger port counts.

Transfer printing is an emerging assembly technique for flexible and stretchable *** a variety of transfer printing methods have been developed,transferring patterns with nanometer resolution remains *** report a sacrificial layer-assisted nanoscale transfer printing method.A sacrificial layer is deposited on a donor substrate,and ink is prepared on and transferred with the sacrificial *** the sacrificial layer into the transfer printing process eliminates the effect of the contact area on the energy release rate(ERR)and ensures that the ERR for the stamp/ink-sacrificial layer interface is greater than that for the sacrificial layer/donor interface even at a slow peel speed(5mm s−1).Hence,large-area nanoscale patterns can be successfully transferred with a yield of 100%,such as Au nanoline arrays(100 nm thick,4 mm long and 47 nm wide)fabricated by photolithography techniques and PZT nanowires(10mm long and 63nm wide)fabricated by electrohydrodynamic jet printing,using only a blank stamp and without the assistance of any interfacial ***,the presence of the sacrificial layer also enables the ink to move close to the mechanical neutral plane of the multilayer peel-off sheet,remarkably decreasing the bending stress and obviating cracks or fractures in the ink during transfer printing.

Simulation platform for autonomous aerial manipulation in dynamic environments

The aerial manipulator (AM) is a systematic operational robotic platform in high standard on algorithm robustness. Directly deploying the algorithms to the practical system will take numerous trial and error costs and even cause destructive results. In this paper, a new modular simulation platform is designed to evaluate aerial manipulation related algorithms before deploying. In addition, to realize a fully autonomous aerial grasping, a series of algorithm modules consisting a complete workflow are designed and integrated in the simulation platform, including perception, planning and control modules. This framework empowers the AM to autonomously grasp remote targets without colliding with surrounding obstacles relying only on on-board sensors. Benefiting from its modular design, this software architecture can be easily extended with additional algorithms. In sensorless control, sliding mode observer is widely used because of its insensitivity to parameter changes and strong robustness. For unnecessary high frequency chattering and the lack of accuracy in calculation of rotor position and machine speed in the conventional sliding mode observer, a new sliding mode observer based on the new constant velocity reaching law is used to suppress the high frequency chattering of the machine system. A new constant speed reaching law is designed to replace the conventional constant speed reaching law and it is introduced into new sliding mode observer. This method improves the approaching speed of sliding mode and reduces the high frequency chattering of conventional sliding mode observer. In addition, the arctangent function is used to estimate the position of the machine rotor, and the phase compensation for the Angle position error of the machine rotor is carried out. The simulation results show that compared with the Conventional sliding mode observer, the proposed new sliding mode observer is more stable and has better control performance. © COPYRIGHT SPIE.
