In this paper, we made an improved design on the traditional quadruped robot structure and developed a new small wheel-legged mobile robot structure. It has four legged configurations, which can be selected according to different situations, improving the mobility and operability of the robot. In wheeled mode, the robot can adjust its center of gravity according to actual needs. Including the rotational degree of freedom of the wheel, each leg has four degrees of freedom. Each leg adopts a series structure and moves the knee drive motor to the fuselage position using a parallel four-link mechanism and is symmetrically arranged with the hip drive motor. A wheel is installed at the end of the shank, and a DC brushless motor is built inside it, enabling the robot to have the function of wheeled motion. This article introduces the details of the wheel-legged robot, emphasizing the innovative design of the physical structure and the diversity of deformation. The forward kinematics was analyzed. Based on the full-elbow configuration (a type of legged configuration), a cycloidal motion optimization simulation was completed for the single leg structure. Simulation experiment has proven that the optimized robot's single leg motion is smoother. Finally, we conducted a typical experiment using an embedded controller to control single leg motion. The experimental results verify that the optimized cycloidal motion of the robot meets the desired motion effect. © 2023 IEEE.

The Mars quadrotor is a vertical take-off and landing aerial platform developed to enhance the efficiency of Mars exploration. The four-blade rotor has a high thrust coefficient due to its high solidity, which enables the quadrotor to navigate the Martian atmospheric environment efficiently. This paper proposes a payload-carrying Mars quadrotor featuring four four-bladed rotors that can fold along the rotor arms. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is employed to perform numerical hovering simulations, exploring the propulsion capability and aerodynamic efficiency of rotors with different diameters. The mass distribution and hovering time are estimated when the quadrotor consists of the rotors with the highest figure of merit. The results demonstrate that a larger rotor diameter of the quadrotor yields greater payload capacity and shorter hovering time. During the launch, the quadrotor is folded and constrained within an envelope to protect it from vibrations and shocks. A lifting mechanism with shape-constraint slides is utilized for quadrotor deployment. © 2023 IEEE.

Despite the progress made in few-shot video action recognition, existing methods still struggle to achieve satisfactory performance when support samples are limited (e.g., 1-shot task). This paper proposes to augment training samples without relying on additional supervision and labor costs, aiming at improving generalizability of learned representations. We introduce a novel self-supervised salient object detection model which results in frame-level saliency and background features of videos. A shared encoder is employed to fuse saliency and background information from different videos. Both intra- and inter-class fusion are performed, in which the latter is controlled by prior probability to avoid semantic ambiguities. This way actually corresponds to augment training data in feature space. The saliency-background representations formed from query and support videos are used to construct class prototypes through Temporal-Relational CrossTransformers. Experimental results on four standard benchmarks demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-arts under various few-shot settings, particularly excelling in the 1-shot case. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Development of a cable-driven redundant space manipulator with large bending angle by combining quaternion joints and segmented coupled linkages mechanism

A cable-driven redundant manipulator has significant potential in confined space applications, such as environmental exploration, equipment monitoring, or maintenance. A traditional design requires 3N driving motors/cables to supply 2N degrees of freedom(DOF) movement *** number of motors is 1.5 times that of the joints’ DOF, increasing the hardware cost and the complexity of the kinematics, dynamics, and control. This study develops a novel redundant space manipulator with decoupled cable-driven joints and segmented linkages. It is a 1680 mm continuum manipulator with eight DOF, consisting of four segmented linkages driven by eight motors/pairs of cables. Each segment has two equivalent DOF, which are realized by four quaternion joints synchronously driven by two linkage cables. The linkage cables of adjacent joints are symmetrically decoupled and offset at 180°. This design allows equal-angle movement of all the joints of each segment. Moreover, each decoupling driving mechanism is designed based on a pulley block composed of two fixed and movable pulleys. The two movable pulleys realize the opposite but equidistant motions of the two driving cables, i.e., pulling and loosening, assuring symmetrical movements of the two driving cables of each segment. Consequently, the equivalent 2N-DOF joints are driven only by 2N motors, significantly reducing the hardware cost and simplifying the mapping relationship between the motor angle/cable length and the joint angle. Furthermore, the bending range of each segment could reach 360°, which is three times that of a traditional design. Finally, a prototype has been developed and experimented with to verify the performance of the proposed mechanism and the corresponding algorithms.

This paper analyzed the impact of phase back electromotive force (back EMF) harmonics on torque of dual three phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (DTPPMSM) from the view of electromagnetic power, and proposed a torque ripple suppression fault-tolerant method for open-circuit fault of DTPPMSM. The proposed method can consider the phase back EMF harmonics, thus achieveing both minimum torque ripple and maximum average torque. The proposed method is verified by both finite element analysis (FEA) and prototype experiment. © 2023 IEEE.

In this study, the fabrication of advanced lithium orthosilicate (Li4SiO4) ceramic tritium breeding pebbles through photopolymerization using ceramic precursors (i.e., SiO2 and Li2CO3) is reported for the first time. The pebbles exhibit excellent mechanical and physical properties. Through optimization of manufacturing parameters and a geometrical correction model to compensate printing deviations, the printing accuracy of the pebbles was enhanced. The resulting pebbles had a diameter of approximately 1 mm, a sphericity of 1.01, a uniformly distributed pore structure, a phase purity > 95%, and a satisfying relative density reaching 91.39%. The average crush load 25.7 ± 0.3 N, surpassed that achieved by previously reported methods. Furthermore, the thermal conductivity was enhanced compared to that of solid-phase synthesized Li4SiO4 powder, facilitating the tritium release process for fusion applications. This study may serve as a guidance for designing appropriate ceramic breeders, providing a cost-effective approach applicable to produce other high-precision ceramic components with complex compositions. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Redirected walking (RDW) provides an immersive user experience in virtual reality applications. In RDW, the size of the physical play area is limited, which makes it challenging to design the virtual path in a larger virtual space. Mainstream RDW approaches rigidly manipulate gains to guide the user to follow predetermined rules. However, these methods may cause simulator sickness, boundary collision, and reset. Static mapping approaches warp the virtual path through expensive vertex replacement in the stage of model pre-processing. They are restricted to narrow spaces with non-looping pathways, partition walls, and planar surfaces. These methods fail to provide a smooth walking experience for large-scale open scenes. To tackle these problems, we propose a novel approach that dynamically redirects the user to walk in a non-linear virtual space. More specifically, we propose a Bezier-curve-based mapping algorithm to warp the virtual space dynamically and apply multiperspective fusion for visualization augmentation. We conduct comparable experiments to show its superiority over state-of-the-art large-scale redirected walking approaches on our self-collected photogrammetry dataset. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The demand for photodetectors and image sensors has grown exponentially in the past decade in biomedical, security surveillance, robotics, automotive, quality control, image recognition, and military applications, due to their superior quality, broadband detection, lower noise, and economic viability. Here,we report a MoS2channel-based phototransistor over an HfO2/n-Si substrate isolated by an h BN layer. The high photoresponse is achieved through the integration of the photoconduction, photogating, and mobility enhancement process by utilizing excellent features of MoS2, HfO2/Si, and h BN. The capacitive coupling of the photogenerated carriers by high-k dielectric HfO2leads to modulation of MoS2Fermi level due to electrostatic doping. Furthermore, the MoS2also contributes to the photogeneration of carriers due to its semiconducting nature, leading to additional photocurrent. Ultimately, the combination of photogating,photoconduction, and swift carrier extraction with remarkable mobility of 11.65 cm2· V-1· s-1results in high responsivity, external quantum efficiency, and detectivity of 4.5 × 10～8A · W-1, 0.72 × 10～6, and 6.20× 1016Jones at 266 nm illumination, respectively. The device also demonstrates broadband photoresponse from 266–1000 nm wavelengths. The high responsivity distinguishes the potential of our device for the future of optoelectronics and broadband image sensing applications.

Novel view synthesis under sparse views has been a long-term important challenge in 3D reconstruction. Existing works mainly rely on introducing external semantic or depth priors to supervise the optimization of 3D representations. However, the diffusion model, as an external prior that can directly provide visual supervision, has always underperformed in sparse-view 3D reconstruction using Score Distillation Sampling (SDS) due to the low information entropy of sparse views compared to text, leading to optimization challenges caused by mode deviation. To this end, we present a thorough analysis of SDS from the mode-seeking perspective and propose Inline Prior Guided Score Matching (IPSM), which leverages visual inline priors provided by pose relationships between viewpoints to rectify the rendered image distribution and decomposes the original optimization objective of SDS, thereby offering effective diffusion visual guidance without any fine-tuning or pre-training. Furthermore, we propose the IPSM-Gaussian pipeline, which adopts 3D Gaussian Splatting as the backbone and supplements depth and geometry consistency regularization based on IPSM to further improve inline priors and rectified distribution. Experimental results on different public datasets show that our method achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction quality.
