A new reconfigurable multi-BMA VLSI architecture was proposed to select different levels of trade-off between video quality, computing complexity and power for power aware applications. The architecture can reuse the smaller blocks' SADs to calculate 41 motion vectors of a 16times16 block in parallel for H.264's VBSME. TSMC 0.18 um CMOS technology was adopted and the circuit's power consumption can be changed between 13.8 and 247 mW with the typical algorithms. Under a clock frequency of 157 Mhz, the architecture allows the real-time processing of VGA at 30 fps with FS in a search range [-16, +15] at the high level.

Recommendation system is one of the most important technologies applied in e-commerce. Similarity measuring method is fundamental to collaborative filtering algorithm, and traditional methods are inefficient especially when the user rating data are extremely sparse. Based on the outstanding characteristics of Cloud Model on the process of transforming a qualitative concept to a set of quantitative numerical values, a novel similarity measuring method, namely the likeness comparing method based on cloud model (LICM) is proposed in this paper. LICM compares the similarity of two users on knowledge level, which can overcome the drawback of attributes' strictly matching. This work analysis traditional methods throughly and puts forward a novel collaborative filtering algorithm, which is based on the LICM method. Experiments on typical data set show the excellent performance of the present collaborative filtering algorithm based on LICM, even with extremely sparsity of data.

Soft robotic systems are human friendly and can mimic the complex motions of animals, which introduces promising potential in various applications, ranging from novel actuation and wearable electronics to bioinspired robots operating in unstructured environments. Due to the use of soft materials, the traditional fabrication and manufacturing methods for rigid materials are unavailable for soft robots. 3D printing is a promising fabrication method for the multifunctional and multimaterial demands of soft robots, as it enables the personalization and customization of the materials and structures. This review provides perspectives on the manufacturing methods for various types of soft robotic systems and discusses the challenges and prospects of future research, including in-depth discussion of pneumatic, electrically activated, magnetically driven, and 4D-printed soft actuators and integrated soft actuators and sensors. Finally, the challenges of realizing multimaterial, multiscale, and multifunctional 3D-printed soft robots are discussed.
