In-plane isotropic separator-induced highly efficient sodium plating for unlocking the fast-charging capability of anode-free sodium battery at practical conditions

Ether-based electrolytes with excellent reductive stability are compatible with sodium(Na)metal an-odes,which enables stable cycling for Na metal batteries even in an anode-free ***,the practical applications of anode-free sodium batteries(AFSBs)with a high theoretical energy density are restricted by the low-rate capability and limited cycle *** we demonstrate that the mechanical properties of the separators,which have been overlooked in previous studies,can significantly affect the cycling stability of AFSBs due to the intrinsic softness of Na and the large volume variation of AFSBs during Na plating/*** using various separators including polypropylene(PP),polyethylene(PE),PP/PE/PP tri-layer,and aluminum oxide-coated separators,we find that the balanced elastic moduli of the separator along the machine direction and transverse direction are crucial for enabling highly effi-cient Na plating and unlocking the 4 C fast-charging capability of the AFSBs at practical conditions including a high cathode active mass loading(13.5 mg/cm^(2)),lean electrolyte addition(8.8 mL/cm^(2)),and no pre-sodiation *** study provides an important separator design principle for the develop-ment of high-rate and long-cycle-life AFSBs.

Isolation of Trichoderma virens 6PS-2 and its effects on Fusarium proliferatum f. sp. Malus domestica MR5 related to apple replant disease in China

Apple replant disease(ARD) is primarily caused by biotic factors that seriously inhibits the development of apple industry. Therefore, the use of biological control measures to inhibit the main pathogens(such as Fusarium spp.) that cause ARD is of great significance to the sustainable development of the apple industry. Trichoderma virens 6PS-2, which exhibited antagonism toward a variety of pathogens, was screened from the rhizosphere soils of healthy apple trees(Malus robusta) in different replanted orchards in the Yantai and Zibo Cities, Shandong Province, China. Its fermentation extract inhibited the growth of pathogenic Fusarium proliferatum f. sp. Malus domestica MR5, which was proportional to the concentration. These substances also increased the hairy root volume and growth of Arabidopsis thaliana lateral roots. The phenotype of Malus hupehensis seedlings and microbial community structure in rhizosphere soils in greenhouse experiment using Highthroughput sequencing were analyzed, and the field experiment with grafted apple trees were used for further verification. Compared with the application of potato dextrose broth(PDB) medium, application of 6PS-2 spore suspension directly to replanted soils could improve the growth of M. hupehensis seedlings as well as the elongation of grafted apple trees. Concomitant decreases in the gene copy number of Fusarium and increases in the culturable bacteria/fungi were also observed in the greenhouse and field experiments. The abundance of Trichoderma,Bacillus, and Streptomyces increased significantly, but that of Fusarium, Pseudarthrobacter, and Humicola decreased. The content of esters, phenols,furans, and amino acids in root exudates of M. hupehensis seedlings increased, which significantly inhibited the multiplication of Fusarium, but was positively correlated with Bacillus and Trichoderma. Competition between biodetoxification fungus and lactic acid bacterium in the biorefinery processing chain for production of cellulosic L-lactic acid

Biodetoxification fungus selectively degrades toxic inhibitors generated from pretreatment of lignocellulose without consuming fermentable ***,one barrier for practical application is the sustained cell viability in the consequent fermentation step to compete the fermentable sugars with fermenting strains,resulting in sugar loss and reduced target product *** study investigated the competitive growth property between the biodetoxification fungus Paecilomyces variotii FN89 and the L-lactic acid bacterium Pediococcus acidilactici ZY271 under varying temperature and lactic acid osmatic *** results show that the L-lactic acid bacterium *** ZY271 showed less thermotolerance to *** FN89 at high temperature of 45°C to 50°C in both synthetic medium and wheat straw *** the higher temperature environment,the growth of the biodetoxification strian failed to compete with the lactic acid fermentation strain and was quickly eliminated from the fermentation *** high temperature fermentation facilitated a fast transition from the detoxification stage to the fermentation stage for higher production of L-lactic acid.

Dielectric nanocomposites with superb high-temperature capacitive performance based on high intrinsic dielectric constant polymer

Advancements in power electronics necessitate dielectric polymer films capable of operating at high temperatures and possessing high energy *** significant strides have been achieved by integrating inorganic fillers into high-temperature polymer matrices,the inherently low dielectric constants of these matrices have tempered the magnitude of *** this work,we report an innovative nanocomposite based on sulfonylated polyimide(SPI),distinguished by the incorporation of sulfonyl groups within the SPI backbone and the inclusion of wide bandgap hafnium dioxide(HfO_(2))*** nanocomposite has demonstrated notable enhancements in thermal stability,dielectric properties,and capacitive performance at elevated *** simulations at both molecular and mesoscopic levels have elucidated the mechanisms behind these improvements,which could be attributed to confined segmental motion,an optimized electronic band structure,and a diminished incidence of dielectric breakdown ascribed to the presence of sulfonyl ***,the SPI-HfO_(2)nanocomposite demonstrates a high charge-discharge efficiency of 95.7%at an elevated temperature of 150℃and an applied electric field of 200 MV/***,it achieves a maximum discharged energy density of 2.71 J/cm^(3),signalling its substantial potential for energy storage applications under extreme conditions.

FaSnRK1a mediates salicylic acid pathways to enhance strawberry resistance to Botrytis cinerea

Microstructural evolution during the progressive transformation-induced plasticity effect in a Fe-0.1C-5Mnmedium manganese steel

The microstructural evolution of a cold-rolled and intercritical annealed medium-Mn steel(Fe-0.10C-5Mn)was investigated during uniaxial tensile ***-situ observations under scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy,and X-ray diffraction analysis were conducted to characterize the progressive transformation-induced plasticity process and associated fracture initiation *** findings were discussed with the local strain measurements via digital image *** results indicated that Lüders band formation in the steel was limited to 1.5%strain,which was mainly due to the early-stage martensitic phase transformation of a very small amount of the less stable large-sized retained austenite(RA),which led to localized stress concentrations and strain hardening and further retardation of *** small-sized RA exhibited high stability and progressively transformed into martensite and contributed to a stably extended Portevin-Le Chatelier *** volume fraction of RA gradually decreased from 26.8%to 8.2%prior to *** the late deformation stage,fracture initiation primarily occurred at the austenite/martensite and ferrite/martensite interfaces and the ferrite phase.

Near-infrared non-fused electron acceptors for efficient organic photovoltaics

Developing narrow-bandgap organic semiconductors is important to facilitate the advancement of organic photovoltaics(OPVs). Herein, two near-infrared non-fused ring acceptors(NIR NFRAs), PTBFTT-F and PTBFTT-Cl have been developed with A-π_A-π_D-D-π_D-π_A-A non-fused structures. It is revealed that the introduction of electron deficient π-bridge(π_A) and multiple intramolecular noncovalent interactions effectively retained the structural planarity and intramolecular charge transfer of NFRAs, extending strong NIR photon absorption up to 950 nm. Further, the chlorinated acceptor, with the enlarged π-surface compared to the fluorinated counterpart, promoted not only molecular stacking in solid, but also the desirable photochemical stability in ambient, which are helpful to thereby improve the exciton and charge dynamics for the corresponding OPVs. Overall, this work provides valuable insights into the design of NIR organic semiconductors.

High temperature polyimide nanocomposites containing twodimensional nanofillers for improved thermal stability and capacitive energy storage performance

Future electronic devices toward high integration and miniaturization demand reliable operation of dielectric materials at high electric fields and elevated ***,the electrical deterioration caused by Joule heat generation remains a persistent challenge to ***,the solution-processed polyimide(PI)nanocomposites with unique two-dimensional(2D)alumina nanoplates are *** improvements in the breakdown strength,charge–discharge efficiency and discharged energy density at elevated temperatures have been demonstrated in the composites,owing to simultaneously suppressed conduction loss and increased thermal conductivity upon the incorporation of 2D Al_(2)O_(3) nanofillers possessing excellent dielectric insulation and thermophysical *** predominance of Al_(2)O_(3) nanoplates in enhancing thermal stability and high-temperature capacitive performance over nanoparticles and nanowires is validated experimentally and is further rationalized via finite element ***,the Al_(2)O_(3) nanoplates filled PI nanocomposite exhibits a hightemperature capability up to 200℃ and remarkable efficiency(e.g.≥95% at 200 MV/m)over a wide temperature range,which outperforms commercial dielectric polymers and rivals the state-of-the-art polyimide nanocomposites.

Study on the Radiation Synthesis Mechanism and the Electrochemical Property of Polyaniline

As a highly promising conductive polymer material,the synthesis method,structure regulation,and performance improvement of polyaniline(PANI)are hot research *** this work,the radiation-induced polymerization of aniline in HNO_(3)solution was successfully achieved at room temperature without the use of chemical *** the analysis of the radiation chemical reactions of inorganic acids and nitrate salt solutions,the characterization of the intermediate free radicals in the irradiated systems,and the influence of the pH of the solutions on the polymerization activity and product morphologies,the radiation-induced polymerization mechanism of aniline is discussed in detail and *** at a condition of[HNO_(3)]>[aniline],i.e.,pH<2.5,PANI can be successfully obtained underγ-ray *** polymerization begins with the oxidation of aniline cations to aniline cation radicals by·NO_(3)generated by radiolysis reactions,and undergoes repeated three steps of monomer free radical recombination,deprotonation,and oxidation reaction of·NO_(3),thus forming a PANI *** addition to the polymerization reaction,the aniline units are protonated and oxidized because of the strongly acidity and oxidation of the reaction system under γ-ray irradiation,which means that the molecular chain structure of the radiation-synthesized PANI can be regulated by pH,nitrate concentration,and irradiation ***-synthesized PANI has a moderate protonation and oxidation state,which can be used for the preparation of PANI supercapacitors with better electrochemical properties than those prepared by chemical oxidation under the same *** work presents a new radiation-synthesis method and polymerization mechanism of PANI,which not only expands the application of radiation technique in the field of polymer synthesis,but also provides a new idea for the structural regulation and electrochemical property optimization of PANI.
