Saddle point problems have been widely applied to many engineering areas such as fluid dynamics, constrained and weighted least squares estimation, electrical circuits and networks, electromagnetics, image registration, and mesh generation for computer graphics. In this paper, we propose a nongeneric algorithm to solve a class of nonlinear saddle point problems. Under weak conditions, we obtain the global convergence results of this new algorithm, whose initial points can be chosen more easily than the locally convergent algorithms. We also analyze in detail the implementation of the algorithm in practice.
