Bioactive molecules have shown great promise for effectively regulating various bone formation processes,rendering them attractive therapeutics for bone ***,the widespread application of bioactive molecules is limited by their low accumulation and short half-lives in *** have emerged as ideal carriers to address these challenges,offering the potential to prolong retention times at lesion sites,extend half-lives in vivo and mitigate side effects,avoid burst release,and promote adsorption under physiological *** review systematically summarizes the recent advances in the development of bioactive molecule-loaded hydrogels for bone regeneration,encompassing applications in cranial defect repair,femoral defect repair,periodontal bone regeneration,and bone regeneration with underlying ***,this review discusses the current strategies aimed at improving the release profiles of bioactive molecules through stimuli-responsive delivery,carrier-assisted delivery,and sequential ***,this review elucidates the existing challenges and future directions of hydrogel encapsulated bioactive molecules in the field of bone regeneration.

Dynamic Convolution and Transformer Based Dual-Branch Coding in Semantic Communication System

Semantic communication is a potential key technology in 6G intelligent communication era. To reduce the information redundancy and improve the accuracy of text data transmission, this paper proposes a novel dual-branch joint source-channel coding model in semantic communication system that integrates dynamic convolution (DynConv) with Transformer architecture. The system utilizes the convolutional attention mechanism to capture the local semantic details and the Transformer self-attention mechanism for contextual associations within sentences. In particular, we further investigate the dimension allocation strategy between these two attention mechanisms, seeking the optimal balance between the recovery performance and complexity of the system. Simulation results demonstrate that, compared with the traditional communication system and the typical semantic communication system based on the standard Transformer, the proposed system achieves higher recovery performance, better robustness, and lower complexity. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

The development of information technology brings diversification of data sources and large-scale data sets and calls for the exploration of distributed learning algorithms. In distributed systems, some local machines may behave abnormally and send arbitrary information to the central machine(known as Byzantine failures), which can invalidate the distributed algorithms based on the assumption of faultless systems. This paper studies Byzantine-robust distributed algorithms for support vector machines(SVMs) in the context of binary classification. Despite a vast literature on Byzantine problems, much less is known about the theoretical properties of Byzantine-robust SVMs due to their unique challenges. In this paper, we propose two distributed gradient descent algorithms for SVMs. The median and trimmed mean operations in aggregation can effectively defend against Byzantine failures. Theoretically, we show the convergence of the proposed estimators and provide the statistical error rates. After a certain number of iterations, our estimators achieve near-optimal rates. Simulation studies and real data analysis are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed Byzantine-robust distributed algorithms.

Methane, an abundant one-carbon(C_(1)) resource, is extensively used in the industrial production of vital fuels and value-added chemicals. However, current industrial methane conversion technologies are energy-and carbon-intensive, mainly due to the high activation energy required to break the inert C–H bond, low selectivity, and problematic side reactions, including CO_(2)emissions and coke deposition. Electrochemical conversion of methane(ECM) using intermittent renewable energy offers an attractive solution, due to its modular reactor design and operational flexibility across a broad spectrum of temperatures and pressures. This review emphasizes conversion pathways of methane in various reaction systems, highlighting the significance and advantages of ECM in facilitating a sustainable artificial carbon cycle. This work provides a comprehensive overview of conventional methane activation mechanisms and delineates the complete pathways of methane conversion in electrolysis contexts. Based on surface/interface chemistry, this work systematically analyzes proposed reaction pathways and corresponding strategies to enhance ECM efficiency towards various target products, including syngas, hydrocarbons, oxygenates, and advanced carbon materials. The discussion also encompasses opportunities and challenges for the ECM process, including insights into ECM pathways, rational electrocatalyst design, establishment of benchmarking protocols, electrolyte engineering, enhancement of CH4conversion rates, and minimization of CO_(2)emission.

Mobile edge computing (MEC) considerably enhances the capabilities and performance of connected autonomous vehicles (CAVs) by deploying edge servers (ESs) on roadside units (RSUs) near CAVs, thereby ensuring low-latency services. Given the constrained and costly nature of ES resources (computing, storage, and bandwidth), equitable ES utilization is critical for CAV operations. However, fairness considerations are often overlooked in current budgeted edge server placement (ESP) strategies, potentially worsening resource imbalances and compromising user experience. This paper investigates the fairness-aware budgeted edge server placement (FESP) problem within RSUs, proving its NP-hardness. To address FESP, we first propose FESP-O, an integer programming-based optimal approach for small-scale problems, followed by FESP-APX, an approximation approach for large-scale scenarios that provides near-optimal solutions. We analyze the time complexity and approximation ratio of our proposed algorithms and validate their efficacy through experiments on real-world datasets. Extensive experimental results demonstrate significant performance improvements over baseline and state-of-the-art methods, indicating practical suitability and efficiency. © 2002-2012 IEEE.

A space-decoupling framework for optimization on bounded-rank matrices with orthogonally invariant constraints

Imposing additional constraints on low-rank optimization has garnered growing interest. However, the geometry of coupled constraints hampers the well-developed low-rank structure and makes the problem intricate. To this end, we propose a space-decoupling framework for optimization on bounded-rank matrices with orthogonally invariant constraints. The "space-decoupling" is reflected in several ways. We show that the tangent cone of coupled constraints is the intersection of tangent cones of each constraint. Moreover, we decouple the intertwined bounded-rank and orthogonally invariant constraints into two spaces, leading to optimization on a smooth manifold. Implementing Riemannian algorithms on this manifold is painless as long as the geometry of additional constraints is known. In addition, we unveil the equivalence between the reformulated problem and the original problem. Numerical experiments on real-world applications—spherical data fitting, graph similarity measuring, low-rank SDP, model reduction of Markov processes, reinforcement learning, and deep learning—validate the superiority of the proposed framework. Stance detection, a natural language processing technique, captures user attitudes on controversial social media topics. However, the semantic ambiguity of social texts makes accurate stance determination challenging. Existing annotated data is often domain-specific, resulting in poor model generalization for unseen targets and cross-domain scenarios. To tackle this challenge, we introduce inference tasks related to stance detection as auxiliary tasks and use a multitask learning approach to improve the model's understanding of textual semantics. Meanwhile, to alleviate the scarcity of annotated data, we use argumentation corpus with abundant resources as the source domain to train the basic stance detection model. We integrate this model with a large-scale framework to facilitate weakly supervised learning for machine annotation of unlabeled social texts, thereby boosting the model's adaptability across different targets and domains. Experimental results on four Twitter datasets demonstrate that our method can significantly improve the model's stance discriminative ability and generalization performance. © 2025 IEEE.
