In this paper, we consider the optimization method for monotone variational inequality problems on polyhedral sets. First, we consider the mixed complementarity problem based on the original problem. Then, a merit function for the mixed complementarity problem is proposed and some desirable properties of the merit function are obtained. Under certain assumptions: we show that any stationary point of the merit function is a solution of the original problem. A descent method for the optimization problem is proposed and the global convergence of the method is shown.

Helicity plays an essential role in the interscale dynamics of turbulence. This paper focuses on the compressible effects on helicity cascades via structure functions. We first investigate the spatial-local dynamics of helicity, revealing that helicity is enhanced by pressure gradients along vorticity lines. Then, structure functions are used to describe the multiscale dynamics. The scaling law r2/3 for helicity remains valid in compressible turbulence, as helicity is independent of the compressive components. Additional pressure and divergence terms are introduced in the new third-order relation for helicity in compressible turbulence. The pressure term is related to the pressure gradients along the vorticity lines and plays a dominant role in the dissipative range. The divergence term is mainly induced by the mixed structure function of divergence and helicity, significantly contributing to inverse helicity cascades in the inertial range.

We consider optimization methods for monotone variational inequality problems with nonlinear inequality constraints. First, we study the mixed complementarity problem based on the original problem. Then, a merit function for the mixed complementarity problem is proposed, and some desirable properties of the merit function are obtained. Through the merit function, the original variational inequality problem is reformulated as simple bounded minimization. Under certain assumptions, we show that any stationary point of the optimization problem is a solution of the problem considered. Finally, we propose a descent method for the variational inequality problem and prove its global convergence.

The structural stability and phonon properties of SnSe/SnS superlattices at finite temperatures have been studied using machine learning force field molecular dynamics and the anharmonic phonon approach. The vertical SnSe/SnS superlattice undergoes a phase transition from the Pnma phase to a P4/nmm phase at finite temperatures, which is different from the high-temperature Cmcm phase of the SnSe and SnS systems. The stability of P4/nmm phase is determined by molecular dynamics trajectories and anharmonic phonon dispersion relations. The TO modes at the q=Γ(0,0,0) and q=M(1/2,1/2,0) points in the P4/nmm phase exhibit imaginary frequencies in the harmonic approximation but stabilize at elevated temperatures. An analysis of phonon power spectra upon temperature also confirms the dynamic stabilization. The P4/nmm phase has higher symmetry than the Pnma phase, and the phase transition between them is accompanied by competition between the Jahn-Teller effect and phonon anharmonicity. Unlike the anisotropic distribution of Sn-Se/S bonds in the Pnma phase, the P4/nmm phase forms chemical bonds with similar bond lengths both in plane and interlayer, and their resonance effect can significantly enhance phonon scattering. The calculated phonon density of states and lifetime are strongly temperature dependent, demonstrating the heavy anharmonicity in the SnSe/SnS system. The P4/nmm phase has an extremely low lattice thermal conductivity, close to the experimental values of SnSe and SnS. Moreover, with the reduction of band gap and the enhancement of band degeneracy near the Fermi level, the P4/nmm phase exhibits superior electronic transport properties and significantly enhanced response to infrared and visible light. This makes it show great potential in thermoelectric and photovoltaic applications.
