Attaining a highly efficient and inexpensive electrocatalyst is significant for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)but still challenging *** transition-metal phosphides(TMPs)catalysts with platinum-like electronic structures are a potential candidate for the HER,but those are prone to be strongly bound with hydrogen intermediates(H∗),resulting in sluggish HER *** we report a unique hybrid structure of CoP anchored on graphene nanoscrolls@carbon nano tubes(CNTs)scaffold(Ni M@C-CoP)encapsulating various Ni M(M=Zn,Mo,Ni,Co)bimetal nanoalloy via chemical vapor deposi-tion(CVD)growth of CNT on graphene nanoscrolls followed by the impregnation of cobalt precursors and phosphorization for efficiently electrocatalytic hydrogen *** nanoparticles mainly scattered at the tip of CNT branches which exhibited the analogical“Three-layer core-shell”*** and density functional theory(DFT)calculations consistently disclose that the encapsulated various NiMs can offer different numbers of electrons to weaken the interactions of outmost CoP with H∗and push the downshift of the d-band center to different degrees as well as stabilize the outmost CoP nanopar-ticles to gain catalytic stability via the electron traversing *** electrocatalytic HER activity can be maximumly enhanced with low overpotentials of 78 mV(alkaline)and 89 mV(acidic)at a current density of 10 mA/cm^(2) and sustained at least 24 h especially for NiZn@C-CoP *** novel system is distinct from conventional three-layer heterostructure,providing a specially thought of d-band center control engineering strategy for the design of heterogeneous catalysts and expanding to other electrocat-alysts,energy storage,sensing,and other applications.

A new adaptive subspace minimization three-term conjugate gradient algorithm with nonmonotone line search is introduced and analyzed in this *** search directions are computed by minimizing a quadratic approximation of the objective function on special subspaces,and we also proposed an adaptive rule for choosing different searching directions at each *** obtain a significant conclusion that the each choice of the search directions satisfies the sufficient descent *** the used nonmonotone line search,we prove that the new algorithm is globally convergent for general nonlinear functions under some mild *** experiments show that the proposed algorithm is promising for the given test problem set.

Online Queue-Aware Service Migration and Resource Allocation in Mobile Edge computing

Mobile edge computing (MEC) integrated with Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) helps run a wide range of services implemented by Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) deployed at MEC networks. This emerging paradigm offers flexible edge resource management for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and improves service satisfaction of diverse applications. However, a critical challenge lies in processing extremely unpredictable and bursty traffic flow, especially in event-trigger sensing tasks. In this paper, we study queue-aware service migration and resource allocation in an MEC network, where different devices with different arrival patterns request different network services. To this end, we first formulate a novel long-term operation cost minimization problem subject to the stability of multiple queues by adopting a simultaneous migration scheme and determining resource allocation dynamically. To address the problem efficiently, we propose an online control framework to make decisions without any prior system *** first adopt the Lyapunov optimization technique to decompose the long-term optimization problem into multiper-slot subproblems. Then, we adopt a decoupled optimization algorithm based on the coordinate descent method and augmented Lagrangian method to solve the offline mixed integer non-linear programming (MINLP) subproblems. Extensive results reveal that the proposed online optimization framework can efficiently balance queue stability and cost consumption. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

The development of information technology brings diversification of data sources and large-scale data sets and calls for the exploration of distributed learning algorithms. In distributed systems, some local machines may behave abnormally and send arbitrary information to the central machine(known as Byzantine failures), which can invalidate the distributed algorithms based on the assumption of faultless systems. This paper studies Byzantine-robust distributed algorithms for support vector machines(SVMs) in the context of binary classification. Despite a vast literature on Byzantine problems, much less is known about the theoretical properties of Byzantine-robust SVMs due to their unique challenges. In this paper, we propose two distributed gradient descent algorithms for SVMs. The median and trimmed mean operations in aggregation can effectively defend against Byzantine failures. Theoretically, we show the convergence of the proposed estimators and provide the statistical error rates. After a certain number of iterations, our estimators achieve near-optimal rates. Simulation studies and real data analysis are conducted to demonstrate the performance of the proposed Byzantine-robust distributed algorithms.

Defects evolution in n-type 4H-SiC induced by electron irradiation and annealing

Radiation damage produced in 4H-SiC by electrons of different doses is presented by using multiple characterization techniques. Raman spectra results indicate that SiC crystal structures are essentially impervious to 10 Me V electron irradiation with doses up to 3000 kGy. However, irradiation indeed leads to the generation of various defects, which are evaluated through photoluminescence(PL) and deep level transient spectroscopy(DLTS). The PL spectra feature a prominent broad band centered at 500 nm, accompanied by several smaller peaks ranging from 660 to 808 nm. The intensity of each PL peak demonstrates a linear correlation with the irradiation dose, indicating a proportional increase in defect concentration during irradiation. The DLTS spectra reveal several thermally unstable and stable defects that exhibit similarities at low irradiation ***, after irradiating at the higher dose of 1000 kGy, a new stable defect labeled as R_(2)(Ec-0.51 eV) appeared after annealing at 800 K. Furthermore, the impact of irradiation-induced defects on SiC junction barrier Schottky diodes is discussed. It is observed that high-dose electron irradiation converts SiC n-epilayers to semi-insulating layers. However, subjecting the samples to a temperature of only 800 K results in a significant reduction in resistance due to the annealing out of unstable defects.

Tilted Perpendicular Anisotropy-Induced Spin-Orbit Ratchet Effects

Using micromagnetic simulations, we demonstrate the tilted perpendicular anisotropy-induced spin-orbit ratchet effect. In spin-orbit torque(SOT)-induced magnetization switching, the critical currents required to switch between the two magnetization states(upward and downward magnetization) are asymmetric. In addition, in the nanowire structure, tilted anisotropy induces formation of tilted domain walls(DWs). The tilted DWs exhibit a ratchet behavior during motion. The ratchet effect during switching and DW motions can be tuned by changing the current direction with respect to the tilting direction of anisotropy. The ratchet motion of the DWs can be used to mimic the leaky-integrate-fire function of a biological neuron, especially the asymmetric property of the “potential” and “reset” processes. Our results provide a full understanding of the influence of tilted perpendicular anisotropy on SOT-induced magnetization switching and DW motion, and are beneficial for designs of further SOT-based devices.
