Analytic approximations of Von Krmn plate under arbitrary uniform pressure—equations in integral form

Analytic approximations of the Von Karman＇s plate equations in integral form for a circular plate under external uniform pressure to arbitrary magnitude are successfully obtained by means of the homotopy analysis method （HAM）, an analytic approximation technique for highly nonlinear problems. Two HAM-based approaches are proposed for either a given external uniform pressure Q or a given central deflection, respectively. Both of them are valid for uniform pressure to arbitrary magnitude by choosing proper values of the so-called convergence-control parameters c1 and c2 in the frame of the HAM. Besides, it is found that the HAM- based iteration approaches generally converge much faster than the interpolation iterative method. Furthermore, we prove that the interpolation iterative method is a special case of the first-order HAM iteration approach for a given external uniform pressure Q when c1= -0 and c2 = -1, where 0 denotes the interpolation iterative parameter. Therefore, according to the convergence theorem of Zheng and Zhou about the interpolation iterative method, the HAM-based approaches are valid for uniform pressure to arbitrary magnitude at least in the special case c1 = -0 and c2= -1. In addition, we prove that the HAM approach for the Von karman＇s plate equations in differential form is just a special case of the HAM for the Von karman＇s plate equations in integral form mentioned in this paper. All of these illustrate the validity and great potential of the HAM for highly nonlinear problems, and its superiority over perturbation techniques.

The Learning-With-Errors (LWE) problem is a fundamental computational challenge with implications for post-quantum cryptography and computational learning theory. Here we propose a quantum-classical hybrid algorithm with Ising model to address LWE, transforming it into the Shortest Vector Problem and using variable qubits to encode lattice vectors into an Ising Hamiltonian. By identifying low-energy Hamiltonian levels, the solution is extracted, making the method suitable for noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices. The required number of qubits is less than m(m + 1), where m is the number of samples. Our heuristic algorithm’s time complexity depends on the specific quantum eigensolver used to find low-energy levels, and the performance when using the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm is investigated. We validate the algorithm by solving a 2-dimensional LWE problem on a 5-qubit quantum device, demonstrating its potential for solving meaningful LWE instances on near-term quantum devices. © The Author(s) 2025.

Dynamic evolution of collective emotions in social networks: a case study of Sina weibo

Emotion is a fundamental object of human existence and determined by a complex set of factors. With the rapid development of online social networks (OSNs), more and more people would like to express their emotion in OSNs, which provides wonderful opportunities to gain insight into how and why individual emotion is evolved in social network. In this paper, we focus on emotion dynamics in OSNs, and try to recognize the evolving process of collective emotions. As a basis of this research, we first construct a corpus and build an emotion classifier based on Bayes theory, and some effective strategies (entropy and salience) are introduced to improve the performance of our classifier, with which we can classify any Chinese tweet into a particular emotion with an accuracy as high as 82%. By analyzing the collective emotions in our sample networks in detail, we get some interesting findings, including a phenomenon of emotion synchronization between friends in OSNs, which offers good evidence for that human emotion can be spread from one person to another. Furthermore, we find that the number of friends has strong correlation with individual emotion. Based on those useful findings, we present a dynamic evolution model of collective emotions, in which both self-evolving process and mutual-evolving process are considered. To this end, extensive simulations on both real and artificial networks have been done to estimate the parameters of our emotion dynamic model, and we find that mutual-evolution plays a more important role than self-evolution in the distribution of collective emotions. As an application of our emotion dynamic model, we design an efficient strategy to control the collective emotions of the whole network by selecting seed users according to k-core rather than degree.

Aluminum electrolysis spent refractory material (SRM) is waste generated during the production process of the aluminum industry, containing a large amount of environmentally harmful fluorides, making its treatment and recycling extremely difficult. To achieve reliable recycling of SRM, this paper substitutes SRM for limestone mineral powder (LM) filler and introduces graphene oxide (GO) and waste crumb rubber (CR) as asphalt modifiers to prepare SRM asphalt mastic and LM asphalt mastic. The feasibility and synergies of SRM and GO in CR modified asphalt mastic and its mixture are studied through a series of macro and micro tests. The macroscopic test results show that SRM asphalt mastic has good high temperature stability, which is further reflected in the improvement of the asphalt mixture's resistance to high temperature rutting deformation, and when the SRM content is 50 %, the water damage resistance is enhanced, but SRM has an adverse effect on the low temperature crack resistance of the mixture. The microscopic test results show that the content of CaO and Al2O3 in SRM is greater than LM, which plays a role in enhancing the high temperature stability of asphalt mastic and resisting external deformation. There are more folds and gullies on the surface of both SRM and GO, which can adsorb free asphalt more effectively, but SRM does not react with asphalt. The fluorine ion adsorption test and leaching test show that the combined action of GO's adsorption and the encapsulation by asphalt effectively reduces the fluoride ion concentration in the leachate This study provides an effective method for the recycling of SRM, which is of great significance for the healthy and green development of the environment. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Coupled hydrodynamic lubrication and unbalanced magnetic force analysis in water-lubricated bearings for rim-driven thrusters

During the operation of rim-driven thrusters (RDTs), eccentricity between the journal and water-lubricated bearing (WLB), as well as between the motor's stator and rotor, is commonly observed. This eccentricity generates both hydrodynamic force (HF) and unbalanced magnetic pull (UMP), which interact in a coupled manner, complicating the accurate evaluation of the hydrodynamic performance of the WLB. This paper proposes a coupled model that integrates the HF and UMP. The HF is derived from the Reynolds equation, while the UMP is calculated using the magnetic potential and air gap reluctance. These forces are then coupled to determine the bearing's equilibrium position and hydrodynamic performance in the RDT. This paper demonstrates the necessity of considering UMP in the hydrodynamic lubrication analysis of WLBs working in RDTs. Additionally, the impact of motor parameters on the WLB is investigated under both fixed and varying operating conditions. It is found that the bearing's hydrodynamic performance is significantly affected by the length of the permanent magnet and the air gap. © 2025 Author(s).

The anomalous Hall effect (AHE) in magnetic materials has attracted tremendous interest in condensed-matter physics. Recent studies reveal that the intrinsic contribution to the AHE would arise out of the Berry curvature (BC) of occupied electronic states. The BC is closely related to nontrivial band crossings such as Dirac and Weyl nodes or nodal lines. Here, we report the comprehensive electronic band structure and transport properties of the NdMnSi2 ferromagnet. A gapped nodal ring near the Fermi level (EF) induced by spin-orbit coupling was observed in the calculated energy band structure, which brings forth a large BC and accordingly leads to a large anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC). Within the permissible range of error, this theoretical value can be reproduced by experimental measurements to be approximately 192Ω−1cm−1. Our study explored the theoretical origin of the BC-induced AHE and provides experimental evidence for BC-induced large AHC in topological nodal-ring semimetal systems.

A TrustEnclave-Based Architecture for Ensuring Run-Time Security in Embedded Terminals

The run-time security guarantee is a hotspot in current cyberspace security research, especially on embedded terminals, such as smart hardware as well as wearable and mobile devices. Typically, these devices use universal hardware and software to connect with public networks via the Internet, and are probably open to security threats from Trojan viruses and other malware. As a result, the security of sensitive personal data is threatened and economic interests in the industry are compromised. To address the run-time security problems efficiently, first, a TrustEnclave-based secure architecture is proposed, and the trusted execution environment is constructed by hardware isolation technology. Then the prototype system is implemented on real TrustZone-enabled hardware devices. Finally, both analytical and experimental evaluations are provided. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed security scheme.

In this paper, we explore the low-complexity optimal bilinear equalizer (OBE) combining scheme design for cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output networks with spatially correlated Rician fading *** provide a spectral efficiency (SE) performance analysis framework for both the centralized and distributed processing schemes with bilinear equalizer (BE)-structure combining schemes applied. The BE-structured combining is a set of schemes that are constructed by the multiplications of channel statistics-based BE matrices and instantaneous channel estimates. Notably, we derive closed-form achievable SE expressions for centralized and distributed BE-structured combining schemes. We propose one centralized and two distributed OBE schemes: Centralized OBE (C-OBE), Distributed OBE based on Global channel statistics (DG-OBE), and Distributed OBE based on Local channel statistics (DL-OBE), which maximize their respective SE expressions. OBE matrices in these schemes are tailored based on varying levels of channel statistics. Notably, we obtain new and insightful closed-form results for the C-OBE, DG-OBE, and DL-OBE combining schemes. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed OBE schemes can achieve excellent SE, even in scenarios with severe pilot contamination. © 2025 IEEE. All rights reserved.

Learning with Noisy Labels: the Exploration of Error Bounds in Classification

Numerous studies have shown that label noise can lead to poor generalization performance, negatively affecting classification accuracy. Therefore, understanding the effectiveness of classifiers trained using deep neural networks in the presence of noisy labels is of considerable practical significance. In this paper, we focus on the error bounds of excess risks for classification problems with noisy labels within deep learning frameworks. We begin by exploring loss functions with noise-tolerant properties, ensuring that the empirical minimizer on noisy data aligns with that on the true data. Next, we estimate the error bounds of the excess risks, expressed as a sum of statistical error and approximation error. We estimate the statistical error on a dependent (mixing) sequence, bounding it with the help of the associated independent block sequence. For the approximation error, we first express the classifiers as the composition of the softmax function and a continuous function from [0, 1]d to RK. The main task is then to estimate the approximation error for the continuous function from [0, 1]d to RK.
