Failure of the DC system itself to withdraw from operation or failure of the AC system causing blocking of the DC system may result in a tidal shift to overload the AC line. Unreasonable tripping of the AC line's distance III backup protection based on local information drives the development of chain tripping incidents and can lead to significant outages. For this reason, a method based on conservation and control synergy is proposed, using DC control information to optimise AC distance III backup protection action behaviour. When the tidal shift triggered by the DC phase change failure blocking makes the distance protection section III act unreasonably, the DC control information is used as the activation condition for the backup protection action range adjustment to improve reliability and prevent the backup protection from acting unreasonably. Finally, the effectiveness of the above strategy is verified by PSCAD software simulation. © 2022 IEEE.

The power system becomes more complex, due to the high penetration of renewable energy and more electronic devices are integrated to the traditional grid. SSCS is the critical task for power grid operation to ensure the control reliability and effectivity. It is inevitable to improve verification experiment technology for SSCS considering the development trend of the power system. RTDS is a powerful simulator for power system which is able to reflects the practical power system operation in real time. In this paper, a method for status tracking of power system model in RTDS is developed that SSCS is able to be verified under multiple operation conditions. It is found that the status cannot be tracked consistently as given, due to the limitations of RTDS models and raw data. The limitation in tracking reactive power output of generators is overcame in this paper. Besides, the development trend of online stability analysis and control is discussed as well as SSCS verification experiment technology. © 2021 IEEE.

A new method for locating ground faults in distribution network was introduced by analysis of the characteristics of the ground fault for the isolated neutral system. The method by comparing the longitudinal current change of the adjacent measurement point to judge the ground fault location, and has verify it by building the simulation model on the PSCAD/EMTDC. The results show that the method has a strong ability of resistance to transition resistance. The specific implementation scheme was given based on the fault indicator which is widely used in distribution network at present. © 2021 IEEE.

With the advanced 5G communication technology and the wireless communication environment of 5G communication network with high bandwidth, low delay and high reliability, line differential protection based on 5G communication has become the development trend of MV (Medium Voltage) and LV (Low Voltage) distribution network protection. This paper provides an overall architecture scheme of line differential protection based on 5G communication to further explain the characteristics of 5G network, and aiming at the problem of delay jitter existing in 5G network, presents a sampling point sequence number synchronization method based on absolute time-marker of external clock to analyze data encapsulation, interaction and traffic consumption of bilateral differential protection, and the corresponding technical solutions, and at last, it proposes a processing mechanism of protection device in dealing with clock loss and data anomaly, which provides a complete technical route for line differential protection based on 5G communication, facilitates the large-scale application of longitudinal differential protection in the closed-loop operation of MV and LV power network, and ensures that the requirements of quickness and selectivity can be met in the traditional non-unit protection of MV and LV power network, so as to improve the reliability level of power network. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

At present, the generation units in the frequency modulation market in China has entered the market-oriented operation, while the market-oriented operation of the load side resources has not been started. This paper presents a mechanism design and system application of load side frequency modulation resources participating in frequency modulation auxiliary service market. Firstly, it analyzes the key mechanisms such as declaration, transaction clearing and settlement in the frequency modulation market. Secondly, the operation mechanism of load side regulation resources after participating in frequency modulation market and the operation interaction process with power market are designed. Then, build the clearing model of load side resources participating in frequency modulation auxiliary service market, and jointly clear the power market and frequency modulation market. Taking the provincial power system of frequency modulation auxiliary service market as an example, the relationship between frequency modulation auxiliary service market system and other systems is discussed. Through the market mechanism, the comprehensive optimization operation of the power grid is carried out, and the reserve capacity of the frequency modulation is effectively configured so as to achieve the goal of the lowest operating cost. © 2022 IEEE.

The exploration of eco-friendly insulating gas to substitute the most potent greenhouse gas sulphur hexafluoride(SF6)has consistently garnered significant ***,the au-thors evaluated the feasibility of utilising perfluoromethyl vinyl ether(PMVE,C_(3)F_(6)O)as a new branch of eco-friendly insulating gas for the first *** primary dielectric and stability characteristics of PMVE regarding AC breakdown,partial discharge,dielectric recovery,and decomposition properties were revealed under various gas pressure and electrical field *** was found that PMVE demonstrated superior dielectric strength,with the AC breakdown and PD inception voltage(PDIV)1.10 and 1.14 times that of pure SF_(6).Furthermore,the dielectric strength of PMVE exhibits stability even after undergoing 100 cycles of AC breakdowns,and there is no observable formation of solid precipitation on the electrode *** discharge decomposition of PMVE mainly generates fluorocarbon(CF_(4),C_(2)F_(6),C_(3)F_(6),C_(3)F_(8),etc.)and ***,the exceptional insulation stabilityandno absence of solidprecipitation featuresendow PMVE tobe utilised as a new eco-friendly gas for SF_(6)-free gas-insulated equipment.

The smart substation communication network is the basis for information sharing of various devices in the substation. Its operation status has an important impact on the safe operation of the substation and even the power grid. Therefore, real-time status monitoring of the smart substation communication network is becoming more and more important. Aiming at the problems of single dimension, insufficient real-time performance and manual fault analysis in existing substation communication network state monitoring technology, this paper proposes a method of smart substation communication network state monitoring and fault prediction based on network communication quality. This paper uses switch ACL technology and coloring technology to obtain communication quality indexes such as bandwidth utilization, delay, and packet loss rate in real time;based on a multi-dimensional evaluation algorithm, a comprehensive evaluation model of network communication quality is constructed;the model of the relationship between abnormal network communication quality and failures is established. Finally, real-time monitoring of network communication quality and fault prediction are realized. The application analysis in a typical 110 kV substation shows that this method can effectively evaluate the network communication quality and accurately predict failures, and can guide operationer and maintenaner to quickly restore the normal operation of the communication network. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. The data sharing based on process level network is the development trend of the digitalization of the secondary circuit in smart substation. However, abnormal problems of data transmission such as network storms bring certain hidden dangers to the safe and stable operation of the secondary equipment. In this paper, the main problems affecting the reliability of data transmission are analyzed, and the message management technology based on data flow control is proposed, which can effectively improve the reliability of data transmission. To address the continuous growth of equipment scale and the number of measurement points in autonomous and controllable intelligent substations, while existing data collection strategies, equipment modeling methods, and data transmission dimensions cannot meet the requirements of panoramic monitoring and deep data mining analysis for the new-generation of substation centralized monitoring system, this paper proposes a data penetration and retrieval method based on DL/T860 CMS standard. This article introduces the background and technical advantages of the DL/T860 CMS standard, as well as the overall process of on-demand access. It also designs the overall architecture, and discusses in detail the key technologies involved in file access, dynamic dataset access, and remote process *** application results of on-site operation of multiple centralized control systems in Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui, and other provinces show that on-demand penetration and retrieval services provide reliable technical support for centralized monitoring of substations, effectively improving the monitoring level of the centralized control system regarding the primary and auxiliary equipment of the substation. © 2024 SPIE.

When large-power disturbances occur in power grids, the system frequency will shift greatly, and there may be obvious spatial-temporal distribution characteristics. By analyzing the single-machine frequency response characteristics of the system and the frequency difference between the two systems, a system frequency analysis model considering nonlinear factors under large frequency difference is proposed to estimate the maximum offset of the system frequency. It is proposed to reduce the maximum frequency offset and reduce the frequency spatiotemporal distribution characteristics by selecting the coordination method of emergency control at different locations at different times, thus improving the safety and stability of the power grid. © 2022 IEEE.
