Hybrid MANET-satellite network is a natural evolution in achieving ubiquitous communication. Their combination gives full play to respective advantages—autonomy and flexibility of MANET, wide coverage and resilience to natural disasters of satellite network. Although large quantities of researches have been conducted on hybrid MANET-satellite network, there are relatively few researches on its routing. In this paper, we construct a basic model of hybrid MANET-satellite network and explore the performance and applicability of ad-hoc routing protocols in hybrid network. Simulation results by NS3 demonstrate that the hybrid network working in ad hoc manner can acquire the performance that conforms to the standard of QoS. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2018.

This paper proposes a high-performance full electromagnetic transient simulation system of Fujian power grid. The system is developed based on the General Transient Simulator (GTS), which is a self-developed electromagnetic transient simulation tool. The key technologies of the simulation system, such as the high-performance automatic parallel computing technology and the large time step electromagnetic transient simulation technology, are introduced. The full electromagnetic transient simulation of the AC power system above lOkV in Fujian power grid based on the dispatching control cloud platform is realized. Study cases are carried out and the validity and accuracy of the simulation are verified by comparing the actual fault recording data and simulation waveforms. © 2021 IEEE

Machine learning methods have become a promising method for rapid identification of transient stability and unstable generators of power systems. However, the transient unstable instances are always fewer than stable instances, which brings difficulties of transient instability identification. This paper presents a data augmentation approach to increase the number of unstable instances. Firstly, original data will be generated by time domain simulation considering the randomness and limitations of power systems. Then, the patient rule induction space (Prism) method is used to obtain the unstable rule set from the training data. After that, new instances can be generated by the unstable rules and time domain simulation. Then, the machine learning method is used to generate the transient stability prediction model and unstable generator identification model based these two kinds of instances. All the generated instances can be verified by time domain simulation. Comprehensive studies are conducted on the New England 10-machine 39-bus system to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2019 IEEE.

The HVDC transmission schedule for clean energy seldom considers the demand of receiving grid. With the expansion of clean energy scale, it brings great pressure to the receiving grid for safe and stable operation. For this reason, a generation and transmission scheduling model of inter-regional HVDC tie-line system considering conditional section is proposed. A step power adjustment model for the HVDC tie-line operation optimization is developed with consideration given to various constraints on tie-line power, which not only give full play to the characteristics of HVDC tie-line that can be flexibly adjusted, but also avoid the frequent conversion of HVDC converter equipment, making the HVDC tie-line schedule more executable. The joint operation model of cascaded hydropower plants in sending grid is established to meet the operational constraints such as the restricted operating zones of hydropower units, and to ensure the priority of clean hydropower resources and the practicability of the hydropower schedule. The model of conditional control section is established, which can effectively deal with the problem of the coupling between the power limits of section and the number of running units, so as to ensure the safe and stable operation of related sections. Based on the actual data of a cross-regional interconnected power grid, the validity of the model is verified, which can promote the accommodation of clean energy across a wide range of regions, reduce the supply cost of large power system, and alleviate the pressure of safe and stable operation at the receiving system.

The modular multilevel converter based battery energy storage system (MMC-BESS) has the problem of pulsating current affecting battery life, and the high cost of retrofitting traditional modular multilevel converter (MMC) stations. The proposed DC direct-mounted energy storage topology in this paper is battery friendly and required number of battery cells is only 1/6 of MMC-BESS, greatly saving costs. This paper analyzes the topology structure and working principle of DC direct-mounted energy storage devices, and proposes a design method for the DC direct-mounted energy storage devices. The proposed design method is validated through simulation and prototype experiments. The simulation and construction of a DC 750V prototype have verified that the prototype has achieved good charging and discharging functions for DC energy storage, with small fluctuations in DC grid connected current and good power control effect. This study can provide reference and guidance for the design and application of high-voltage and high-capacity direct current energy storage devices that support offshore wind power to move towards the deep sea in the future. © 2024 IEEE.

High proportion of renewable energy integrated into the power grid results in lower system inertia and deterioration of voltage characteristics. Understanding the reactive power support characteristics of wind/photovoltaic (PV) /storage power station is critical for achieving coordinated control of their reactive power. In this regard, the paper proposes a comprehensive evaluation index system that considers voltage, reactive power support, and reactive power control to evaluate the reactive power support capability of wind/photovoltaic/storage power station. To validate the effectiveness of the index system, this paper constructs a simulation scenario of a wind/photovoltaic/storage power station connected to the regional power grid and calculates the corresponding indices. The fuzzy membership function is used to normalize the indicators. The subjective and objective combination weighting method is used to assign values to the indicators, and the reactive power support capability ratings of each power station are calculated. Finally, the reactive power support capability of the wind/photovoltaic/storage power plant was analyzed in combination with simulation scenarios, and the effectiveness of the comprehensive evaluation index system and method was verified. © 2023 IEEE.

As the sampling interruption is the heartbeat of merging unit, its stability is directly related to the accuracy and discreteness of the output SV packets of merging unit. To prevent the output error from merging unit when its sampling interruption is abnormal, this paper proposes crystal frequency monitoring technology, sampling interruption monitoring technology and SV packets timing monitoring technology, forming the prevention and control system of sampling interruption exception of merging unit. The merging unit developed by above technology has the function of early warning and processing for the occasional sampling interruption exception, which improves the reliability of intelligent substation operation.

Capacitance current has significant effect on long-distance fault of high-voltage transmission line, and the current single-ended quantity location algorithm can hardly eliminate the effect of capacitance current under the power frequency. To reduce capacitance current’s effect on location algorithm, this paper builds metallic grounding fault model based on RLC type circuit, takes fault location as the unknown variable, builds a mathematical location model within time domain applicable for taking account of capacitance current, and obtains the quadratic equation with one unknown for fault location. Then it substitutes the two independent variables for the linear term and quadratic term, solves independent variables through linear equation, and proves the solution exists and is unique. Then under analysis on the same difference error, it compares magnitude of error generated during calculation of the two independent variables, it corrects difference error first, and inversely solves fault location by selecting the numerically disturbed smaller independent variable. Simulation results indicate the algorithm can accurately take account of effect of capacitance current under different metallic fault conditions, and solve fault location in a stable and accurate manner.

A correction method for HVDC transmission plan considering the correlation between sending end new energy generation and receiving end loads

Recently, new energy is conversely distributed and centralized grid connection which need transmit redundant power to other regions urgently by HVDC system. Based on the characteristics of new energy, this paper analyzes the correlation between sending end new energy and receiving end loads by person correlation coefficient method and proposes a correction method for HVDC transmission plan considering the correlation which promotes new energy penetration level and improves utilization of HVDC system. By taking a HVDC system as an example, the results of analyzing practical scheduling data in 2015 demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed method.

The incentive policies for non-fossil energy are important factors affecting the investment behavior of generation companies (GENCOs). However, the investment behavior of different types of GENCOs in the system could be quite different, so the implementation of the policy must consider how to achieve incentive compatibility with the investment behavior of GENCOs. This article constructs a power transition simulation model that considers the investment behavior of GENCOs. Taking the wind power feed-in tariff policy as an example, it analyzes the impact of policy on the whole system's low carbon transition pathway of the power structure and the evolution trajectory of system carbon emissions under different behavior scenarios. © 2021 IEEE.
