HengTanghe River, which is a channel along the west coast of Taihu Lake, connects several inflow rivers into the lake. It has a certain distance away from the lake embankment. From June 2010 to May 2011, the water samples of Hengtanghe River were collected in Zhoutie town near the village of Yangxi, Yixing. The variation of river water quality was analyzed throughout the whole year. The results showed that: (1) the annual total nitrogen (TN) concentration was inferior to Class V water quality except August, while other indexes were superior to Class V water quality. (2) Dissolved total nitrogen (DTN) accounted for the main form in TN in the river, while TP was mainly in the form of particulate phosphorus (PP). Chemistry oxygen demand (CODMn) had a higher concentration during June and August compared to other months, and the maximum chlorophyll a (Chla) concentration was monitored in August. There were significantly higher CODMn and Chla concentrations in the hot season than that in the cold season, while the TN concentration exhibited the opposite tendency with CODMn and Chla. A comparative study of the purifying efficiency between two plant species was conducted in the bio-rack wetlands for low-concentration polluted river water treatment in order to evaluate the purified effects of different wetland plants. When TN, NH3-N, NO3-N, TP, and COD concentrations of the influent were 1.42-5.92 mg/L, 0.153-2.04 mg/L, 0.392-1.966 mg/L, 0.074-0.211 mg/L and 5.38-12.73 mg/L, respectively, the average removal efficiencies of wetland planted with Thalia dealbata and Acorus calamus were 67.36% and 58.42%, 63.31% and 50.13%, 71.69% and 54.73%, 80.62% and 70.01%, and 24.03% and 19.19%. It indicated that the bio-rack wetland was an efficient approach for nutrient treatment, and removal efficiencies were influenced by plant species. Thalia dealbata showed higher contaminant removal rate than that of Acorus calamus, indicating Thalia dealbata was suitable for selected plant to purify low-concentration polluted river water in the bio-rack system © 2012 TSI Press.

Experimental study on supporting technology of gob-side entry with different roof conditions

Aiming to effectively solve the problem of deep mining with safety and high efficiency, according to geological conditions, production and stress analysis in roadway surrounding rock, experimental studies on roadway supporting of workface 103 under three types of roof conditions with different supporting technologies and parameters were carried out based on the theory of supporting technology of gob-side entry. The results show the supporting of gob-side entry retaining is successful, and the deep surrounding rock is effectively controlled by field monitoring and drilling-hole photos. After stress in surrounding rock of roadways restores stable, the final roadway deformation of surrounding rock of haulage roadway and air-roadway are both about 300 mm; width of gob-side entry is 3.8-4.0 m and average height is 2.0-2.2 m; roadway section is above 8.0 m^2, which solves the problems of gob-side entry retaining support strength and safe mining; necessary conditions of mining safety in workface 103 are met.

R-spondin family factors, known as regulators of e-catenin signaling pathway, are conserved in vertebrate. They play roles in multiple processes during vertebrate development. Rspo1, a member of R-spondin family, regulates sex differentiation in both mammals (e.g. mouse) and reptiles (e.g. turtle). However, the role of Rspo1 in fish remains elusive. Our previous work showed the expression of Rspo1 in zebra fish (zRspo1). In this study, we further investigated potential function of zRspo1. We compared Rspo1 homologs in zebra fish and in human (hRspo1-4). By bioinformatics analysis, we predicted that zRspo1 functions on activating e-catenin signaling through a manner similar to hRSpo1. By his-tag indication, we detected zRspo1 on cell membrane and Golgi apparatus in zebra fish liver cells. This result suggests that zRspo1 may first secrete to the milieu and then extra cellular zRspo1 activates e-catenin. © 2012 IEEE.

Active control of sound transmission through a stiffened panel using a hybrid control strategy

This article presents active control laws for sound transmission through a stiffened panel in the low-frequency range. A stiffened panel mounted on a metallic box is used to simulate aircraft fuselage and cabin system. A loudspeaker located outside the box is driven by band-limited white noise to exert acoustic excitation. Dynamic properties of the stiffened panel are characterized through a series of modal testing. Sound isolation performance is evaluated both analytically and experimentally for further efficient control algorithms design. Based on the analysis of these results, a hybrid control strategy combining both feedback and feedforward control is proposed, which utilizes a high-authority/low-authority control architecture. The low-authority control loop is positive position feedback control and high-authority control loop is filtered-X control. When positive position feedback is implemented, active damping is added on the secondary path, which makes filtered-X least mean square more robust, accelerates convergence rates, and reduces residue errors. In the end, the effectiveness of the hybrid control is verified through a serious of closed-loop control experiments. These results demonstrate that sound pressure level could be lowered by a maximum of 15.9 dB at the first resonance frequency. In addition, the overall sound reduction in the cabin is more than 7 dB.

The effects on the target terms for the structural fragments from the explosions of the cylindrical and spherical vessels were investigated using a parametric approach using Monte-Carlo simulations,to explore the characteristics of fragment impact and penetration into nearby *** results showed that fragment rotation and lack of wind decreased the probability of impact within a given distance,but the rupture probability of the target was not affected by fragment rotation or *** probabilistic confidence intervals of fragment impact,and target penetration became narrower with the number of simulation runs,but the accuracy of the results *** probability of fragment impact increased with the volume of the target vessel and the degree of filling of the explosion vessel,but did not depend on the kind of *** probability of target rupture increased slowly with the degree of filling of the explosion vessel,but was little influenced by the volume of the target vessel or the kind of explosion.

The domino effect risk caused by fragments was investigated in consideration of the clapboard and protective layer of polyvinylchloride (PVC) resin based on the plasticity *** effects of the risk reduction were explored and compared by Monte-Carlo *** results showed that the clapboard only prevented the projectiles in the range of its size and reduced the impact probability of the fragments to some extent,but the protective layer cut down the failure possibility of target *** relative deviations demonstrated that more than 90 % reduction in the domino effect risk caused by fragments was performed by the protective layer of PVC resin,accounting for 2 to 3 times of that produced by the *** risk of domino effect occurrence caused by fragments decreased exponentially according to the thickness of the protective layer of PVC resin,and the relationship between the two variables,of high reliability,as the theoretical basis for the design of the protective facilities of the tanks against the fragment impact,was created by data *** best practice to reduce the possibility of the domino effect to the tank initiated by fragments was the use of the protective layer.
