The experiments were carried out indoors to observe and analyze the variations of urease, catalase, and phosphatase activities in soil samples with presence of PFOA. The results showed that during the incubation period, the urease activity could be significantly inhibited over a selected range of PFOA concentrations. As for the catalase and the phosphatase activities, they were first stimulated and then decreased with increasing PFOA concentration.

The degradation dynamics of phenanthrene in soil was studied. The half-life of phenanthrene in the non-sterilized contaminated soil was only 5.1 d, much shorter than the same in the sterilized soil. The dominant strain of phenanthrene microbial degradation was isolated and identified by 16S rDNA as Alcaligenes sp.;its growth and degradative capability were highest at 25 ℃ and pH of 7.0. Inoculation of the dominant strain to soil enhanced phenanthrene degradation, and faster degradation rates were observed with larger doses of the strain inoculated.

A total of 118 of agricultural soil and 43 of vegetable samples were collected from Dongguan City, Guangdong, China. The spatial distribution, sources, accumulation characteristics and potential risk of heavy metals in the agricultural soils and vegetables were depicted in details by three different approaches, including total contents of eight metal elements in soils and vegetables, GIS maps and multivariate analysis of heavy metals in soils in the study. The results show that there are higher accumulation of heavy metals such as Cu, Zn, Ni, Pb, Cd and Hg in agricultural soils, and the contents of Pb (65.38 mg kg^-1) and Hg (0.24 mg kg^-1) are 1.82 and 2.82 times of the background contents of the corresponding heavy metals in soils of Guangdong Province, respectively. There are about 3.4% of Cu, 5.9% of Ni, 1.7% of Cd and 28% of Hg in all collected soil samples from all investigated sites which have overran the contents for heavy metals of the China Environmental Quality Standard for Soils (GB15618-1995, Grade Ⅱ). The pollution characteristics of multi-metals in soils are mainly reflected by Hg. There are different sources to eight metal elements in soils, Cu, Zn, Ni Cr and As are predominantly derived from parent materials, and Pb, Hg and Cd are affected by anthropogenic activities. The spatial distribution shows that the Cu, Zn, Ni, Cr, Pb, As and Hg contents of agricultural soils are high in the west and low in the east, and Cd contents are high in the northwest, southeast and low in the southwest in Dongguan. The ratios of vegetable samples which Ni, Pb and As concentrations higher than the Maximum Levels of Contaminants in Foods (GB2762-2005) are 4.7%, 16.3% and 48.8%, respectively. The order of bio-concentration factors (BCF) of heavy metals in vegetables is Cd 〉 Zn 〉 Cu 〉 As 〉 Ni 〉 Hg 〉 Cr 〉 Pb. Distributed generation (DG) injects new vigor into the power system, but it sometimes brings unfavorable factors influencing the power quality of distribution network. In this paper, the Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is introduced to the distribution network to improve the power quality. In view of that the detection of voltage compensation is the key factor that influences the effect of voltage compensation, a voltage direct detection method based on mathematical morphology is proposed. Firstly, the positive-sequence voltage with harmonics can be extracted by the instantaneous sequence-component decomposer. And then the harmonics is filtered by mathematical morphology filter. Lastly, the control variable of voltage compensation needed by DVR can be calculated from the voltage direct-detecting algorithm. The simulation results show that this method has the characteristics of favorable accuracy, real-time performance and simplicity, and assures the voltage quality of load side after compensation by DVR.

Digital based data processing and protection and control system along with digital communication networks introduces new structures for substation protection and control systems and new methods for intelligent protection and control systems. This paper presents a unique vision for the future integration of protection and control systems. Firstly, the basic concept and configuration of the developed protection and control systems for smart substation is introduced. The features and functions of integrated protection and control systems for smart substation are then discussed and compared with that of the traditional substation in detail.
