As the global climate continues to change, ice floe channels are gradually becoming a common operating environment for icebreakers. It is essential to investigate the ice resistance performance under such conditions. A coupled computational fluid dynamics-discrete element method (CFD-DEM) is used to numerically simulate the navigation of a floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) in an ice floe area. Specifically, CFD is used to solve the hydrodynamics to determine the hydrodynamics of the ship. A numerical model of the ship-ice-water interaction has been developed by considering the collision forces between ice-ice, ship-ice and ice-wall in conjunction with the discrete element method. The results of the numerical calculations are compared with semi-empirical formulae to validate the ability of the method to accurately predict the ice resistance of a navigating ship. Based on this validation, a series of simulations are carried out to investigate the process characteristics of the ship-ice interaction and the effects of different parameters, such as ship speed, ice concentration and ice shape, on the ice resistance. This paper proposes a practical method for predicting the resistance of a ship while navigating in an ice floe channel, which provides a theoretical basis for the optimal design of polar ships. © 2024 by the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers (ISOPE).

With the continuous development of the protective structures and the upgrading of blast mitigation materials, traditional shaped charge warheads are gradually difficult to cause effective damage to heavily armoured ships. To improve the penetration capability of the warhead and achieve large aperture damage to the structures, Annular Shaped Charge (ASC) with unique geometric structure is proposed and applied. In order to investigate the damage effect of the ASC on thin-walled structures with near-field explosion, a series of numerical calculations are carried out based on the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. The influence of the standoff distance on the penetration performance of the ASC is analysed, and the optimal standoff distance is also obtained. Moreover, the influence of medium on the penetration ability of the ASC is explored. The process of jet formation and penetration of the ASC in air medium, water medium and water with an air cavity are compared and analysed. The results show that water not only limits the formation effect of the ASC, but also significantly reduces the jet tip velocity. Accordingly, an air cavity is added in front of the liner to improve the formation effect of the ASC. As a result, both the formation effect and the penetration ability of the ASC in water are significantly improved, and the radius of the penetration hole is greatly increased. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. In order to improve the anti-shock performance of underwater target, composite materials have been widely used. A numerical model of near-field underwater explosions associated with shaped charges was developed based on the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. The damage modes of composite Q235 steel/SiC ceramic/UHMWPE sandwich plates were compared. According to material properties, a new composite sandwich plate was proposed-Q235 steel/UHMWPE/SiC ceramic/UHMWPE composite sandwich plate. The effect of different material mass ratios on the protective effect of composite sandwich plates was analyzed. The results show that new composite sandwich plate underwater explosion impact resistance, anti-projectile performance greatly improved. The composite sandwich plate with proper mass ratio has superior resistance to shaped charge underwater explosion. Composite sandwich plate with faceboard UHMWPE 48.06 mm, SiC ceramic 14.63 mm and backboard UHMWPE 48.06 mm is the most effective. This pressure hull has the greatest decrease in head velocity of metal jet. The casing is a critical design factor for underwater weapons, significantly influencing the energy output of underwater explosion (UNDEX) charges. In this study, a numerical model for cased charge UNDEX was developed using the coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. To optimize the shock wave and bubble energy outputs, the effects of the thickness ratio n and casing material on load characteristics were systematically investigated, and optimal parameters were derived. First, the enhancement effects of the thickness ratio n on shock wave and bubble loads were examined at varying distance parameters δ. Subsequently, the influence of n on the spatial distribution of shock wave and bubble loads was analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) model. Four typical underwater weapon casing materials - Ti6%Al4%V, Cu-OFHC, Al 6061-T6, Q235 - were selected. Their impacts on key parameters, including peak shock wave overpressure, bubble radius, bubble period, bubble shape, and pulsation pressure, were thoroughly evaluated. This study aims to elucidate the spatial and temporal evolution laws of shock wave and bubble loads for different types of cased charges, providing insights into the design and optimization of underwater weapons. © 2025

In ocean engineering, curved structures are commonly used in various marine applications, including unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) and autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). However, the interaction between underwater explosions (UNDEX) and such elastic-plastic curved structures remains insufficiently understood, particularly regarding bubble dynamics and water jet loading near deformable boundaries. To address this gap, this study presents a combined experimental and numerical investigation of UNDEX near an elastic-plastic curved double-hull structure—a configuration that has received limited prior attention. Shockwave and bubble pulsation pressures were recorded using pressure sensors, and bubble motion and jet formation were captured via high-speed imaging. Numerical simulations using the coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method were performed to complement the experiments, covering 63 representative cases. Compared to shockwave loading alone, the combined action of shockwave, bubble, and water jet increased the outer hull deflection by 184%, highlighting the critical role of multi-source interactions. Two key parameters—distance parameter ( γ ) and ring rib position ( β )—were systematically varied to assess their influence on bubble behavior, jet dynamics, and structural damage. This study contributes new insights into the emergence of mutually deviating water jets and proposes a classification of six typical bubble shapes, four fundamental jet units, and five distinct jet types near elastic-plastic boundaries. These findings enhance the understanding of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) under multi-source loading and reveal the structural vulnerability associated with bubble pulsation and jet impact. The results underscore the importance of considering these coupled effects in the design and protection of marine structures exposed to underwater explosions.

In the design of modern high-performance processors, branch prediction is a very important component, and good branch prediction can greatly improve the performance of the processor. And Branch Target Buffer (BTB) is an important part of branch prediction. BTB is used to store information about branch instructions. Different from storing each branch as a unit, Glenn et al. proposed a BTB that stores branch information in a unit of fetch block, which they call Fetch Target Buffer (FTB). This design can optimize the timing by limiting the branch prediction width. But they did not give specific implementation details. In this paper, we propose a specific FTB implementation, and it is used in the second version architecture of XiangShan high-performance processor. First, we give the fields in the FTB entry in this design and their corresponding functions. Most BTB entries need to store the following information: branch tag, branch type, target address. In addition to these fields in this paper, FTB will also store other information for managing entries and optimizing branch prediction performance. Secondly, we proposed the management strategy of FTB entries, when to add, modify, and replace. After all the instructions in a fetch block are committed, we need to decide whether this fetch block needs to be written to FTB, and which way to write, how to avoid the problem of multiple hits. Under the 14nm process, compared to the 1.8GHz of the first version of the architecture, the frequency of the new architecture using FTB can be increased to 2GHz. © 2022 SPIE.

Ascribe to the research significance and great application potential of elastic wave manipulation, the topological phononic crystals with peculiar functions in robust waveguiding have attracted enormous research attention. High-dimensional, higher-order, multifunctional, intelligent, and multi-frequency topological structures are expected to be a prominent research focus in the coming decades, while grand challenges still exist in designing such devices. In this regard, this paper presents a hexagonal lattice structure with six internally connected cylinders. Utilizing the accidental Dirac cones, the separate control of closing/opening and topological phases of three bandgaps at different frequencies is achieved. The subsequent parametric analyses reveal the whole picture of valley Chern numbers variation in the parametric space, which helps summarize the design principles of frequency-dependent topologically protected interface modes. Several superstructures consisting of two types of unitcells are then constructed to achieve the waveguiding in a straight path and frequency-dependent wave filtration. Consequently, introducing more types of unitcells can form interfaces that support waveguiding at different frequencies, leading to the realization of frequency-dependent wave separation and demultiplex. The presented work in this paper not only offers a novel design for multi-frequency wave separation and filtration but also inspires further explorations in multi-functional integrated elastic wave processors.

Network Virtualization paves the way for sharing the physical infrastructure with many service providers and enables resources in physical substrate network being applied and provisioned as a form of Virtual Network(VN).However,there exist many obstacles in applications of this *** problem of VN embedding is commonly considered the most difficult one of *** existing research only considers the case of how to embed VN *** user demands on Virtual Network are dynamically changing,how to efficiently reconfigure VN to adapt to changing demand is challenging *** this paper,our objective is to find way for optimally reorganize VN that already embedded on VN in a cost sensitive way to meet the changed *** address this problem by proposing a cost sensitive VN reconfiguration approach.A heuristic VN reconfiguration algorithm with virtual node and virtual link migration and swapping strategy is *** validate and evaluate the given algorithms by conducting experiments in high fidelity emulation *** evaluation results show that the proposed approach can effectively reconfigure VN while minimizing cost and fragmentation of *** comparing our algorithms with others,the given reconfiguration algorithm outperforms existing solutions.

In this paper, we will do some researches on the relationship between action sequence and system efficiency in multi-agent system. Usually, when an agent gets a task, it will calculate all the feasible action sequences and choose the best one whether the task has used to appeared in this system before. It wastes a lot of time on re-calculating and re-comparing. So we propose solution sharing mechanism to make all the agents share the same solution space which keeps the current optimal plan for tasks. After achieved new tasks, each agent will have only one calculation and comparison, and then choose the better current action sequence. The reduction of time and better action sequence will improve the efficiency of multi-agent system.

Prior mobile malware defensive means is usually retroactive, which may either lead to high false negatives or can hardly recover systems states from malware activities. PreCrime is a proactive malware detection scheme that detects and stops malware activities from happening. PreCrime creates mirrors of a mobile device in a resource-rich and trusted cloud, which speculatively executes multiple likely user operations concurrently to detect potential tampering and information leakage. Our preliminary evaluation shows that PreCrime introduces small performance overhead on smartphones and feasible delay during speculative execution on the cloud. © 2014 ACM.
