IEA: an answerer recommendation approach on stack overflow

Stack overflow is a web-based service where users can seek information by asking questions and share knowledge by providing answers about software development. Ideally, new questions are assigned to experts and answered within a short time after their submissions. However, the number of new questions is very large on stack overflow, answerers are not easy to find suitable questions timely. Therefore, an answerer recommendation approach is required to assign appropriate questions to answerers. In this paper, we make an empirical study about developers' activities. Empirical results show that 66.24% of users have more than30% of comment activities. Furthermore, active users in the previous day are likely to be active in the next day. In this paper, we propose an approach IEA which combines user topical interest, topical expertise and activeness to recommend answerers for new questions. We first model user topical interest and expertise based on historical questions and answers. We also build a calculation method of users' activeness based on historical questions, answers, and comments. We evaluate the performance of IEA on 3428 users containing41950 questions, 64894 answers, and 96960 comments. In comparison with the state-of-the-art approaches of TEM, TTEA and TTEA-ACT, IEA improves n DCG by 2.48%, 3.45% and 3.79%, and improves Pearson rank correlation coefficient by 236.20%, 84.91% and 224.12%, and improves Kendall rank correlation coefficient by 424.18%, 1845.30% and 772.60%.

Travel Patterns Analysis of Urban Residents Using Automated Fare Collection System

As one of the essential information, passenger Origin-destination(OD) matrix is crucial for transit system planning. Automated fare collection(AFC) system is widely used in big cities all around the world, OD data not only can be collected in dynamic way but also through citywide. It is only a byproduct of AFC and have the imperfection. This paper proposes a novel method to infer trip chain information of each commuter’s OD matrix based on travel pattern identify, and then the relationship between lines which have the character of the geographical proximity is used to calibrate the result of inferring. A serious of experiment results based on the real data show that the method has relatively high accuracy and can be use to practical application.

Damage characteristics of typical structures subjected to underwater contact explosion of array charges

This paper studies the damage characteristics of underwater explosions on typical underwater structures with array charges, using both experimental and numerical methods. A small-scale explosion experiment is conducted in a water tank to compare the damage effects of single-charge and array charge explosions under contact explosion conditions. Subsequently, numerical methods are used to analyze the effects of array spacing and detonation distance on the damage characteristics of array charges under full-scale conditions. A damage model for typical cylindrical shell structures under underwater contact explosions with array charges is established. The rupture width and deflection are used as characteristic parameters to investigate the damage effect. The results show that, under specific array spacing and detonation distance conditions, array charges exhibit significant energy concentration and enhanced damage effects. When the radius-to-distance ratio is 6, the damage effect is up to 48.3% higher than that of a single charge with equal mass. When the detonation distance exceeds 70 cm, the damage effect gradually decreases as the radius-to-distance ratio increases. Under the same damage mode, the pulsating jet load accounts for a large proportion of the damage, which increases as the detonation distance increases. © 2025 Author(s).

Recent development in sensing and communication technologies has made the collection of a large amount of traffic data easy and transportation engineering has entered the big data era. The massive traffic data provides some good opportunities for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), while some great challenges because of its characteristics of large value, variety, velocity, veracity, and volume. In recent few years, tensor decomposition has played an important role in traffic data analytic solutions and attached great interest from both academic and industrial areas. In this paper, the preliminary background and the implementation of tensor decomposition are presented. Then, some recent studies of tensor decomposition for traffic data imputation, traffic state prediction, and analysis of travel pattern are reviewed. Furthermore, advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Finally, remaining challenges of the application of tensor decomposition in transportation engineering are pointed out. © 2024

Experimental study of damage to double-hull structure by underwater explosions of three charge types - blasting, shaped, and linear shaped charges

In recent years, due to the improvement in ship protection capabilities, near-field underwater explosions no longer pose fatal damage to ships. Since stiffened plates are typical structures in ships, studying the impact of underwater explosions with different types of explosives on ships is of great significance. This experiment investigated the damage characteristics of blasting, shaped, and linear shaped charges on the same type of stiffened plate. The experimental results indicate that linear shaped charges can create larger penetration holes on target plates, but they suffer from insufficient flight capability. In contrast, shaped charges exhibit stronger penetrating power, yet they lack sufficient damage capability against target plates. Although the penetration capability of blasting charges is inferior to the first two, its overall deflection of the plate frame exceeds that caused by shaped charges and linear shaped charges by 1.6 % and 5.7 %, respectively. To further investigate the penetration process and the load characteristics of the penetrator, a finite element model was established in this paper. The numerical results show that there is no significant difference in jet length and velocity between the two models, but the shapes of the jet tips differ, and the computational results are in good agreement with the experimental results, confirming the validity of the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) method. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

CSLabel： An Approach for Labelling Mobile App Reviews

Mobile apps （applications） have become a popular form of software, and the app reviews by users have become an important feedback resource. Users may raise some issues in their reviews when they use apps, such as a functional bug, a network lag, or a request for a feature. Understanding these issues can help developers to focus on users＇ concerns, and help users to evaluate similar apps for download or purchase. However, we do not know which types of issues are raised in a review. Moreover, the amount of user reviews is huge and the nature of the reviews＇ text is unstructured and informal. In this paper, we analyze 3 902 user reviews from 11 mobile apps in a Chinese app store -- 360 Mobile Assistant, and uncover 17 issue types. Then, we propose an approach CSLabel that can label user reviews based on the raised issue types. CSLabel uses a cost-sensitive learning method to mitigate the effects of the imbalanced data, and optimizes the setting of the support vector machine （SVM） classifier＇s kernel function. Results show that CSLabel can correctly label reviews with the precision of 66.5%, the recall of 69.8%, and the F1 measure of 69.8%. In comparison with the state-of-the-art approach, CSLabel improves the precision by 14%, the recall by 30%, the F1 measure by 22%. Finally, we apply our approach to two real scenarios： 1） we provide an overview of 1 076 786 user reviews from 1 100 apps in the 360 Mobile Assistant and 2） we find that some issue types have a negative correlation with users＇ evaluation of apps.

CoreDevRec： Automatic Core Member Recommendation for Contribution Evaluation

The pull-based software development helps developers make contributions flexibly and efficiently. Core members evaluate code changes submitted by contributors, and decide whether to merge these code changes into repositories or not. Ideally, code changes are assigned to core members and evaluated within a short time after their submission. However, in reality, some popular projects receive many pull requests, and core members have difficulties in choosing pull requests which are to be evaluated. Therefore, there is a growing need for automatic core member recommendation, which improves the evaluation process. In this paper, we investigate pull requests with manual assignment. Results show that 3.2%～40.6% of pull requests are manually assigned to specific core members. To assist with the manual assignment, we propose CoreDevRec to recommend core members for contribution evaluation in GitHub. CoreDevRec uses support vector machines to analyze different kinds of features, including file paths of modified codes, relationships between contributors and core members, and activeness of core members. We evaluate CoreDevRec on 18 651 pull requests of five popular projects in GitHub. Results show that CoreDevRec achieves accuracy from 72.9% to 93.5% for top 3 recommendation. In comparison with a baseline approach, CoreDevRec improves the accuracy from 18.7% to 81.3% for top 3 recommendation. Moreover, CoreDevRec even has higher accuracy than manual assignment in the project TrinityCore. We believe that CoreDevRec can improve the assignment of pull requests.

Applied research of data sensing and service to ubiquitous intelligent transportation system

High-efficiency transportation systems in urban environments are not only solutions for the growing public travel demands, but are also the premise for enlarging transportation capacity and narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas. Such transportation systems should have characteristics such as mobility, convenience and being accident-free. Ubiquitous-intelligent transportation systems (U-ITS) are next generation of intelligent transportation system (ITS). The key issue of U-ITS is providing better and more efficient services by providing vehicle to vehicle (V2V) or vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) interconnection. The emergence of cyber physical systems (CPS), which focus on information awareness technologies, provides technical assurance for the rapid development of U-ITS. This paper introduces the ongoing Beijing U-ITS project, which utilizes mobile sensors. Realization of universal interconnection between real-time information systems and large-scale detectors allows the system to maximize equipment efficiency and improve transportation efficiency through information services.

Specifying redundancy tactics as crosscutting concerns using aspect-oriented modeling

Various redundancy tactics can be modeled at the design stage of safety-critical systems thereby providing a set of fault-tolerance guidelines for subsequent development activities. However, existing approaches usually interweave redundancy tactics into the functional models making them complex and cluttered; the maintenance of such models is time-consuming and error-prone. To address this problem, we provide a modeling approach to separate the redundancy tactics from the base functional models using aspect-oriented modeling. More specifically, the conceptual models of the redundancy tactics and their semantic constraints are first defined for deriving the relevant aspects. Subsequently, a UML profile is proposed to specify the tactic aspects followed by mapping these concepts to the corresponding concepts of aspect-oriented modeling based on pre-defined principles. In accordance with our proposed profile, reuse directives are applied to handle the overlap of structural features between redundancy tactics and other kinds of tactic. Based on our tactic aspects and their configured attributes, a weaving algorithm is proposed to associate the tactic aspects with the base functional models. The proposed approach is compared with a traditional tactic modeling approach using two safety-critical systems, revealing that： 1） our approach significantly reduces the number of extra model elements needed in the tactic design stage; 2） our approach can largely avoid the impact of changing of the base functional model as the model evolves.
