Dual-environment feature fusion-based method for estimating building-scale population distributions

Information on the population distribution at the building scale can help governments make supplemental decisions to address complex urban management ***,the discon-tinuity and strong spatial heterogeneity of research units at the building scale make it challenging to fuse multi-source geographic data,which causes significant errors in population *** address this problem,this study proposes a method for population estimation at the building scale based on Dual-Environment Feature Fusion(DEFF).The dual environments of buildings were constructed by splitting the physical boundaries and extracting features suitable for the dual-environment scale from multi-source geographic data to describe the complex environmental features of ***,Data Quality Weighting based Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(DQW-TOPSIS)method was proposed to assign appropriate weights to the features of the external environment for better feature ***,a regression model was established using dual-environment features for building-scale population *** experimental areas chosen for this study were Jianghan and Wuchang Districts,both located in wuhan City,*** estimated results of the DEFF were compared with those of the ablation experiments,as well as three publicly accessible population datasets,specifically LandScan,WorldPop,and GHS-POP,at the commu-nity *** evaluation results showed that DEFF had an R2 of approximately 0.8,Mean Absolute Error(MAE)of approximately 1200,Root Mean Square Error(RMSE)of approximately 1700,and both Mean Absolute Percentage Error(MAPE)and Symmetric Mean Absolute Percentage Error(SMAPE)of approximately 26％,indicating an improved performance and verifying the validity of the proposed method for fine-scale population estimation.

Remote sensing image super-resolution via cross-scale hierarchical transformer

Global and local modeling is essential for image super-resolution ***,current efforts often lack explicit consideration of the cross-scale knowledge in large-scale earth observation scenarios,resulting in suboptimal single-scale representations in global and local *** key motivation of this work is inspired by two observations:1)There exists hierarchical features at the local and global regions in remote sensing images,and 2)they exhibit scale variation of similar ground objects(***-scale similarity).In light of these,this paper presents an effective method to grasp the global and local image hierarchies by system-atically exploring the cross-scale ***,we developed a Cross-scale Self-Attention(CSA)to model the global features,which introduces an auxiliary token space to calculate cross-scale self-attention matrices,thus exploring global dependency from diverse token *** extract the cross-scale localities,a Cross-scale Channel Attention(CCA)is devised,where multi-scale features are explored and progressively incorporated into an enriched ***,by hierarchically deploying CSA and CCA into transformer groups,the proposed Cross-scale Hierarchical Transformer(CHT)can effectively explore cross-scale representations in remote sensing images,leading to a favorable reconstruction *** experiments and analysis on four remote sensing datasets have demonstrated the superiority of CHT in both simulated and real-world remote sensing *** particular,our CHT outperforms the state-of-the-art approach(TransENet)in terms of PSNR by 0.11 dB on average,but only accounts for 54.8％of its parameters.

Shape optimisation of basin insulator for DC gas insulated switchgear/gas insulated transmission lines based on artificial bee colony algorithm

The surface charge accumulation on the basin insulator is a particular problem in high-voltage direct current(HVDC)gas insulated switchgears(GIS)and gas insulated trans-mission lines(GIL),which restricts the development and application of extra/ultra high-voltage(EHV/UHV)*** surface charge distribution and anti-flashover performance are closely related to the insulator *** obtain the optimal basin insulator,a shape optimisation model based on artificial bee colony algorithm was established,and the minimisation objective functions based on capacitive(initial)electric field distribution and resistive(steady-state)electric field distribution were respectively *** optimisation results of the two objective functions were calculated,and the electric field and charge distribution on the surface of the insulator before and after optimisation were evaluated and compared using the simulation *** results indicated that the optimisation based on the capacitive electric field can significantly inhibit the surface charge accumulation,and the optimised insulator can significantly reduce the surface normal electric field and make the distribution of the tangential electric field more uniform,and the maximum tangential electric field can be reduced by 10%;the optimisation based on resistive electric field can achieve similar results,but requires more computational *** on the results,the‘anti-charge’basin insulator structure suitable for the DC field was given.

The shear mechanical behavior is regarded as an essential factor affecting the stability of the surrounding rocks in underground *** shear strength and failure mechanisms of layered rock are significantly affected by the foliation *** shear tests were conducted on cubic slate samples with foliation angles of 0°,30°,45°,60°,and 90°.The effect of foliation angles on failure patterns,acoustic emission(AE)characteristics,and shear strength parameters was *** on AE characteristics,the slate failure process could be divided into four stages:quiet period,step-like increasing period,dramatic increasing period,and remission period.A new empirical expression of cohesion for layered rock was proposed,which was compared with linear and sinusoidal cohesion expressions based on the results made by this paper and previous *** comparative analysis demonstrated that the new expression has better prediction ability than other *** proposed empirical equation was used for direct shear simulations with the combined finite-discrete element method(FDEM),and it was found to align well with the experimental *** both computational efficiency and accuracy,it was recommended to use a shear rate of 0.01 m/s for FDEM to carry out direct shear *** balance the relationship between the number of elements and the simulation results in the direct shear simulations,the recommended element size is 1 mm.

Experimental study on the influences of cutter geometry and material on scraper wear during shield TBM tunnelling in abrasive sandy ground

When shield TBM tunnelling in abrasive sandy ground,the rational design of cutter parameters is critical to reduce tool wear and improve tunnelling ***,the influence mechanism of cutter parameters on scraper wear remains unclear due to the lack of a reliable test *** and material optimisation are often based on subjective experience,which is unfavourable for improving scraper geological *** the present study,the newly developed WHU-SAT soil abrasion test was used to evaluate the variation in scraper wear with cutter geometry,material and *** influence mechanism of cutter parameters on scraper wear has been revealed according to the scratch characteristics of the scraper *** geometry and material parameters have been optimised to reduce scraper *** results indicate that the variation in scraper wear with cutter geometry is related to the cutting resistance,frictional resistance and stress *** appropriate increase in the front angle(or back angle)reduces the cutting resistance(or frictional resistance),while an excessive increase in the front angle(or back angle)reduces the edge angle and causes stress *** optimal front angle,back angle and edge angle for quartz sand samples areα=25°,β=10°andγ=55°,*** wear resistance of the modelled scrapers made of different metal materials is related to the chemical elements and *** wear resistances of the modelled scrapers made of 45#,06Cr19Ni10,42CrMo4 and 40CrNiMoA are 0.569,0.661,0.691 and 0.728 times those made of WC-Co,*** the alloy hardness is less than 47 HRC(or greater than 58 HRC),scraper wear decreases slowly with increasing alloy hardness as the scratch depth of the particle asperity on the metal surface stabilizes at a high(or low)***,when the alloy hardness is between 47 HRC and 58 HRC,scraper wear decreases rapidly with increasing alloy hardness as the scratch depth transitions

Longitudinal dispersive coefficient in channels with aquatic vegetation:A review

The determination of longitudinal dispersion coefficient in rivers is necessary for pollution control,environmental risk assessment,and *** rivers with aquatic vegetation,the flow field is remarkably modified by canopies,which affects velocity profiles and dispersion characteristics dominated by the heterogeneity of the velocity *** dispersion is deduced from lateral and vertical longitudinal velocity gradients for compound channels with vegetated floodplains and rectangular channels with river-wide vegetation,*** many efforts have been exerted to clarify the dispersion process in different conditions and predict the diffusion of contaminants in vegetated rivers,no studies have introduced it *** study reviews the dispersion coefficient characteristics,including magnitude,main impacted factors,and relationships with flow and vegetation features,in channels with aquatic canopies considering the variation of impact factors changing with the different vegetation and river morphology *** typical methodologies for determining longitudinal dispersion coefficients are also summarized to understand the dispersion processes and *** from the pioneer outcomes of previous studies,the review also emphasizes the deficiency of existing studies and suggests possible future directions for improving the theory of dispersion in vegetated channels.

Co-pyrolysis of Sewage Sludge with Distillation Residue: Kinetics Analysis via Iso-conversional Methods

This study explored the synergistic interaction of sewage sludge(SS)and distillation residue(DR)during co-pyrolysis for the optimized treatment of sewage sludge in cement kiln systems,utilizing thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)and thermogravimetric analysis with mass spectrometry(TGA-MS).The results reveal the coexisting synergistic and antagonistic effects in the co-pyrolysis of SS/*** synergistic effect arises from hydrogen free radicals in SS and catalytic components in ash fractions,while the antagonistic effect is mainly due to the melting of DR on the surface of SS particles during pyrolysis and the reaction of SS ash with alkali metals to form inert ***/DR co-pyrolysis reduces the yielding of coke and gas while increasing tar *** study will promote the reduction,recycling,and harmless treatment of hazardous solid waste.
