WDM systems cascaded by Er 3 -Tm 3+ -codoped tellurite fiber amplifiers pumped by 800- and 980-nm lasers are analyzed for the first time in this paper. We use an amplifier model based on propagation and population-rate equations that are solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta algorithm and Newton's iterative method. In addition to analyzing the performance of the 800-nm pump, we also study the performance improvement after adding a new pump of 980 nm. With this new 980-nm pump, channels in the 1420-1620-nm wavelength region can reach a bit error rate (BER) less than 1times10 -9 , with a transmission distance of 400 km.

Other research groups have proposed many valuable schemes on microring resonator optical switch. We analyzed the characteristic of the microring resonator based on its theory and structure. Depending on the latest research progress, we introduce the use of the microring resonator as switches. We also discuss the emphasis which need to be further improved and the perspective of the microring resonator as ultralow-latency optical switches.

FTTH development is slow but steady in China. The phenomenon is rooted from some major challenges, such as cost, limited bandwidth in Metro networks, bandwidth consumption behaviours. To address above challenges, FTTH architectures and bandwidth consumption behaviours are studied in the paper. To remove the bandwidth bottleneck between access and Metro networks and reduce cost, LR-PON (Long-Reach Passive optical Network) is suggested to be applied in two ways in China. For resolving the challenge of bandwidth exhaustion in Metro networks caused by high-capacity consumption in access networks, a new bandwidth scheduling, Bandwidth on Schedule (BoS) is proposed to improve efficiency of bandwidth utilization. In the paper, the proposed solutions to challenges will be helpful to increase the penetration rate of FTTH deployment in China.

A 65, 042312 (2002)], we present more detailed presentations and proofs of the quantum-signature scheme in our paper. We feel our further investigation has shown that the original quantum-signature scheme is secure and operationally well defined. In addition, proofs illustrate that the quantum-signature scheme with unknown quantum states is also suitable in principle.

We present a universal protocol for continuous-variable graph-state teleportation. A mathematical model is established to determine an arbitrary graph state’s properties, including the possibility of teleportation and the relevant analytical criteria. By investigating the properties of several fundamental graph-state types, we identify a general strategy for optimizing excess noise due to finite squeezing. As an application, a general scheme for teleportation between two arbitrary parties on a two-dimensional square lattice cluster state is given, along with a cheaper yet equivalent optimization for fixed source-target teleportation. Finally, a universal way to distill bipartite entanglement from a graph-state entanglement network is presented based on the equivalence between teleportation and entanglement distillation.
