The rapid development of UHVDC, new energy and power market enhances significantly the uncertainty of power grid. The control strategy of stability control system calculated offline cannot cover the complex and changeable power grid operation situation. A hierarchical closed-loop stability control system is proposed to meet the stability control requirements under multiple and cascading faults, including dispatching center station, coordination control master station and regional control master station The dispatching center integrates natural disaster information to generate high-risk faults and searches online control strategy based on controllable resources acquired by coordination control master station. Coordination control master station stores control strategy of high-risk faults, identify high-risk faults in different places, and issue the control strategy. Regional control master station is responsible for the implementation of high-risk faults control strategy. The analysis results demonstrate that the system can improve the security defense level of power grid. The proposed method is proved to be fast and effective through the analysis of a practical power grid example.

This paper overcomes the shortcomings of the traditional Risk assessment method of Risk Priority Number (RPN). The evaluation process is established by combining the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) with the cloud model theory. And applied to solve the DC charger failure mode risk assessment, analysis and determination of DC charger key failure mode and failure mechanism. Firstly, the expert assessment information of DC charger fault mode was converted into a cloud model, and then the risk assessment index and expert weight of risk assessment were calculated. Finally, the TOPSIS method was used to determine the risk priority of the fault mode, and the failure mechanism of the high-priority fault mode was analyzed to determine the failure physical model.

To effectively reduce the impact of complex and severe faults on the power grid, an online verification and optimization decision-making system for emergency disposal of power grid faults has been designed. Firstly, standardize the modeling of traditional fault emergency disposal and extract the typical structure, constituent elements, and organizational approach of fault emergency disposal. A general description method for fault emergency disposal has been established to achieve structured and modular processing of data. Then, based on the actual fault handling process of the power grid and the priority of handling multiple types of safety and stability issues, the effectiveness of adjustment measures, disposal speed of control measures, control costs, and other constraints are comprehensively considered. Calculate specific control measures, control areas, and control quantities based on the stage of fault disposal. Translate rough handling points into specific control measures and suggestions to achieve online verification and optimization decision-making for fault emergency disposal. Finally, the practicality of the system is verified through an example in the article.

Reasonable and effective assessments of power system resilience and targeted improvement measures are critical for improving clean energy consumption rates and building modern power systems. Conventional power system resilience assessments do not sufficiently account for the macroscopic grid structure or the correlations between static and dynamic resilience. Therefore, this paper proposes a power system resilience evaluation method that considers static network topology and dynamic operational adjustments. First, the power system resilience analytical framework is established. Second, the evaluation indicators of static resilience and dynamic resilience of a power system are proposed, and these indicators are analyzed using complex network theory and a dynamic adjustment strategy, respectively. Finally, the validity and applicability of the theoretical methods proposed herein are evaluated based on actual grid structures. © 2023 IEEE.

Capacitive voltage transformer (CVT) has the advantages such as low insulation cost, small size and large electric field strength margin, so it is widely used in voltage measurement, relay protection and high frequency communication. However, CVT has the capacitors and inductors in its structure, these components are sensitive to frequency, so it can not accurately measure harmonics. Considering the stray capacitance and coupling capacitance of capacitive voltage transformer, the broadband response equivalent circuit model of CVT is established, and a cascade hierarchical analysis method is proposed to deduce the complete transfer function. On this basis, the influence of key parameters of CVT on harmonic transmission characteristics is simulated and analysed. The simulation results show that the increase of compensation reactor stray capacitance will make the resistance band move to the low frequency direction, the stray capacitance of the primary side of the intermediate transformer affects the attenuation degree of the high frequency band, and the effect of secondary side of transformer stray capacitance on the frequency response of CVT can be ignored. The results have reference significance for accurate harmonic measurement and manufacturing of CVT.

In the case of AC system fault at the inverter side of HVDC transmission system, commutation failure will occur when the turn-off angle of the inverter is less than the limit turn-off angle. To solve the problem of commutation failure, this paper presents a commutation failure suppression strategy of HVDC transmission system based on Deep Double Q-Network (DDQN). A reinforcement learning algorithm with double neural network structure is adopted to accurately predict the DC current value at the inverter side, thus improving the commutation failure prevention and control module (CFPREV), reducing the trigger delay angle at the inverter side and dynamically adjusting the constant current reference value at the rectifier side based on predicted value. At last, the experimental results show that this strategy can effectively suppress commutation failure of HVDC transmission system. © 2021 SPIE.

The transient stability mechanism of grid-following inverter (GFL-inverter) and grid-forming inverter (GFM-inverter) in the power system has been extensively studied respectively, whereas the integration of GFM-inverters and GFL-inverters into the grid unavoidably change the transient stability of the power system. This paper aims to analyze the transient stability for the mixed-GFM-GFL power system (MGGPS). The equilibrium point of the MGGPS system is analyzed. The large-signal model of the system is established. Based on this model, an analysis of the transient stability is carried out. It is revealed that the change of GFM-inverter terminal voltage will move the position of GFL-inverter equilibrium points, and the increase of GFL-inverter terminal current will enhance the transient stability of GFM-inverter. With the simulation of phase portraits, the aforementioned transient stability mechanism is proved. © 2021 IEEE.

As the increasing penetration of inverter-based distributed generations (DG) reduces the inertia of the power system, the stability of the system under small disturbances is threatened. grid-forming (GFM) inverter, which can simulate inertia, damping and droop characteristics, is one of the most effective solutions. Virtual inertia and damping coefficient have important effects on the performance in primary frequency modulation. This paper presents an explicit and universal small-signal model for multi-GFM system based on the Newton-Raffson power flow algorithm in polar coordinates to realize the optimal design of virtual inertia and damping coefficient. The validity of the proposed model is demonstrated by comparing with the simulation model, and the effect of virtual inertia and damping coefficient on frequency response is analyzed in the end. © 2021 IEEE.

Light gas protection only operates when gas within the transformer collection chamber reaches threshold volume. Such criterion failed to reflect transformer conditions accurately due to the lack of understanding for defect developing process and corresponding gas generation- convergence pattern, which has led to lower protection reliability and has caused several transformer explosions. To address current problem, an experimental tank with structure resembling that of a power transformer is set up, inside which the needle-plate oil-pressboard breakdown model is planted. Experimental results indicate that throughout fault development, voltage drops became more frequent until arcing occurs, so is HFCT signal;meanwhile gas generation rate increases through slight partial discharge, spark discharge and arcing stage, the collected gas volume corresponds with patterns above. The purpose of this study is to clarify the defect developing process and the gas generation-convergence pattern for oil-immersed transformer internal fault in guidance for a more reliable protection method. © 2021 IEEE.

With the wide application of power semiconductor devices in severe working conditions, the reliability and lifetime estimation of power semiconductor devices have become the research hotspot. Power cycling test is a significant method to study the reliability issues. This paper first analyzes the existing methods and then proposes a new power cycling method which considers not only realistic electrical conditions but also the thermal stress from different regions. Firstly, rainflow algorithm is used to extract the temperature cycles with large amplitude. Next, the junction temperature cycles and case temperature cycles are matched using integer programming algorithm and modified by means of equivalent substitution. At the same time, a method to control the case temperature and the junction temperature simultaneously is proposed. Afterwards, modified rainflow reconstruction algorithm is used to combine these matched cycles to temperature arrays. Finally, test load profile is formed. An electric vehicle motor drive system based on the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure mission profile is used to verify the proposed method. This method can simultaneously stress the bonding wire and the solder layer, which provides a new way to access the reliability of power devices in real application. © 2021 IEEE.
